    How do they relate to each other?

    Had had is killing me. English is my first language and I felt as if I never really use that until you mentioned the contractions. Then it was clear that I do use it in contracted form. I also just reminisce earlier on than and then. I had a bad habit of using them interchangeably.

    In the olden days there was no smart phones. So I hadn't had a chance to learn English. Later on when smart phones appeared, I had the opportunity to learn English through them.
    My mother tongue is Malayalam.

    About contractions in the past perfect, the first person is: I'd had, right? At 5:00 minutes, you said the contraction "I've had ".
    So, it's I'd had or I've had ?

    Present simple: I have a cute dog. / She has great skills.
    Past simple: I had two cars. / She had everything that she wanted.
    Present perfect: I've had some pain lately. / She's had strange feelings about him.
    Past perfect: I'd had great friends at school until this happened. / She'd had all of it if she was smarter.

    Present simple:-
    *I have two bags.
    *She has nothing to eat.
    past simple:-
    *We had to go.
    *I had to do it.
    Present perfect:-
    *It has had to be done.
    *I have had to leave.
    Past perfect:-
    *They'd had to work there for an hour.
