"Like a hopeless kid brother" was exactly how Tsubaki described Kousei to Kaori. So Kaori is just teasing Tsubaki by using the same words that Tsubaki herself used.
I think Kaori describing Kousei as a 'hopeless kid brother' actually has way more implications to it. Because that's EXACTLY how Tsubaki described Kousei, but I think Kaori realizes Tsubaki isn't totally honest about how she actually feels. So in a way, it's kind of like a "Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you"
The rivals are coming!! The dynamics of the piano trio is actually pretty fun. There's a part of Kousei that he only shows to his piano competitors and I find that really cool
Also "On the Way Home" is such a great title for the episode. All the major parts in it happened while the characters are going home--from Kousei and Tsubaki, Kaori and Tsubaki, Kaori and Kousei, Senpai and Tsubaki, and finally back to Kousei and Tsubaki, a full circle.

Honestly the real tragedy of this story is the senpai tsubaki is going out with. She’s basically just using him to get her mind off the person she actually loves😭
This episode might have had you rooting for Tsubaki more than Kaori, but I bet you'll switch to Kaori when you learn more about her and how much she loves Kousei.
@@Slolucid I respect that. We each have our own preferences, I guess I just happen to prefer Kaori over Tsubaki because of how Kaori's love for Kousei manifests. Tsubaki is amazing and I like her too, I just feel that between Kaori and Tsubaki it was Kaori who handled her feelings for Kousei better for the things she did in the amount of time she had.
I need to stop you there, Kaori and kousei is just perfection,later on you gonna see what i mean .. i love tsubaki but kaori is the one that made everything colorful in kousei , after all you kicked right in without taking off your shoes ♥️ can't wait for the next EP
(spoilers) its reasonable that she has this opinion this early on in the show tho, because kaori hasnt really developed "proper feelings" for kousei yet. also, many people ship tsubaki and kousei, i dont, but just saying, its a normal opinion to have (especially for girls)
