This is why I say the Stoney Ridge Farmer is by far the BEST informative, educational farming channel to ever hit TH-cam, Facebook, and or any other sites. Josh, your hard work on and off camera, dedication to your farm, healthy lifestyle, and teaching of others is not nearly recognized or appreciated to its fullest yet. One day, I see someone sitting down with Mr. and Mrs. Stoney Ridge discussing their story and how they made a first generation farm out of a neglected abused landscape into a profitable self staining farm that will be around for generations to come. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! 🚜-Woooooo!!!

    Hi Josh,
Thanks for taking the time to interview Ms Grandin. I probably would never have found her and several things she said were very applicable to our situation as well as being of general interest anyway. I truly never knew it was ok to think in pictures, something I've done all my life but always kept to myself. If you speak to Ms Grandin again please pass on my appreciation to her.
    Stay safe
    Lloyd.

Dr. Grandin is AMAZING, I came across her work several years ago. Thank you so much for having her on your channel.
This was sort of mentioned in the part where she was talking about cattle wanting to go back where they came from. She developed a chute system whereby the truck/trailer you want to load them into is near the pen they are leaving. The chute is U shaped, starts at the pen, ends at the truck. They can't see the truck/trailer from the chute as they walk by. The cattle are more than happy to follow the chute right to the truck.

Josh this was an awesome interview! I was diagnosed autistic, I struggled in school but excelled at self directed hands on learning. Dr. Grandin is my idol in life. Josh, thank you for this video ! From this video I've learned that I am a visual thinker. I've always called it having vision because I didn't know what it was. When one can look at something and see the little things that most people do not see or see the whole picture ( everything included, tiny to the very large )and that also applies to working with animals of all kinds and understand why they are doing what they are doing. Thank's again, I know this will open a lot of peoples eyes so they can learn new things !

SRF, I have been waiting for enough signal to watch this in full and I finally got to watch it. All I can really say is, thank you Josh for what ever kind of hardship, the cold you had, the travel, wearing the mask to fly out there, and every other inconvenience you endured to make this video! I know we all have our short comings as I'm sure you do as well, but the sheer volume of knowledge in this video, 11,810 views (so far) is wealth in knowledge for anyone that watches it. I'm overwhelmingly proud to see a fellow veteran gain success and do so simply by sharing knowledge, what greater deed is there than to give knowledge and wisdom away and ask nothing in return. And you having a friend named Drake did not escape us parents of 90's kids "Drake and Josh" pun there for you Disney fans lol.

Oh yes Temple. I'm a middle school teacher/ retired RN, I've been saying this about the education system for years! They want everyone to end up as a white collar worker! They think everything needs to be run by computers. That's fine for some. But, who is going to fix our cars, our sewer treatment plants, our lawn mowers, big machinery, our basic infrastructure! Who's going to grow our food? GMO is only good in certain times, like severe drought. Big farms are why we're having a food shortage now. The big processing plants ran out all the small butchers. Like she said...fragile!

I heard about Grandin years ago. What a fascinating person. I have two children on the spectrum. My daughter raises goats, I raise chickens for eggs. She's a real smart cookie when it comes to goats. We live in the foothills of NC. We bought my grandfathers house that he built in 1946 and the five acres that was his farm. I have memories as a little girl of watching my grandfather milk his cow, collect eggs, kill a chicken for Sunday supper, plow his garden and reap a harvest of sweet taters and corn. He put a love in my heart for homesteading, my daughter caught that love. My Son though, his autism is a little more severe and he withdraws more. TY for interviewing Temple, I loved it! What a smart little sweetie!!

Josh I’m watching you from our small farm (tiny compared with yours!) in England which we bought 6 years ago with no knowledge about how to raise a few sheep, pigs and chickens. With love and care they have a great life and the quality of our food is like nothing we used to eat. You are an inspiration to others, keep doing what you are doing, there is a movement slowly going on across the world for sustainable small scale production based on traditional methods to produce superb quality. Temple Grandin is a legend - we had to order her film from the US 5 years ago and she has changed the world with her methods - unbelievable! Great interview Josh and good luck with your amazing farm !
