0 pilot - That's Entertainment - The day after the latest Extermination, Charlie, the princess of Hell, pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in Hell. She opens a hotel in hopes that patients will be "checking out" into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted girlfriend, Vaggie, and their first client, adult film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When Alastor, a powerful entity known as "The Radio Demon", reaches out to Charlie to assist in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality
1 - Overture - One week after the events of the pilot, Charlie reveals in a backstory that her father, Lucifer, was an angel that fell in love with Lilith, the first woman. They gave the second woman, Eve, the gift of free will, inadvertently creating Hell, where Lucifer and Lilith were banished by Heaven. To keep the sinners of Hell in line, angels created the annual Extermination. As Hell is still recovering from the last Extermination, Charlie mentions that she has not seen or heard from Lilith in seven years. Charlie later receives a call from her father, who asks her to take his place in his annual meeting with Heaven. Charlie pitches to Adam - leader of the Exterminations - and his second-in-command Lute, her plan to save sinners through redemption in her hotel. Her pitch is ignored and laughed at, and Adam reveals that the next Extermination will happen in six months rather than a year. Meanwhile, Vaggie, Charlie's girlfriend, enlists the hotel's staff to make a commercial to promote the hotel, but the final product is cut short by a news broadcast announcing the Extermination date being moved. Lute finds the corpse of an exterminator killed in Hell and shows Adam, and the two plan to kill every demon in Hell during the next Extermination.

You are the FIRST reactor that get's the Joke as to why Lucifer send Charlie to see Adam. I haven't seen a reactor yet that got the joke this quick!

The entire cast is stacked with Broadway veterans.
Just so you are aware, Hazbin has a sister show called Helluva Boss entirely on TH-cam that is definitely worth watching. It is currently nearing the end of its second season.
Helluva is set in the same universe as HH, but instead of focusing on sinners, the main cast are all hellborn demons. They're safe from the exterminations, but have their own problems. The show itself is more raunchy and character driven. There are also a fair number of musical numbers, but not as many as HH
If you do watch it play close attention to the backgrounds, there are a lot of fun details hidden there.
This was really enjoyable! Can’t wait to see more of your reactions to the rest of the season! Btw: The snake-man is Sir Pentious. A play on “serpent”. A bit of a dork, but I love him.
Some lore for you (in case someone else hasn't already told you). When killed, sinners re-spawn in hell (like in the pilot when that sinner was surprised that he was alive before being killed again ironically). The only exception is if sinners are killed with angelic weapons (white blades like the ones carried by the angels). Anyone killed by angelic weapons are permanently dead.
A little Infos for you.
Charlie is THE second most powerful being in Hell. Her Mom Lillith shares this powerlevel with her. Lucifer is the most powerful one.
The Scale is like this
1. Lucifer
2. Charlie / Lillith
3. The 7 Deadly Sins (whom you can see in the Sister show 'Helluva Boss' which is free on TH-cam, Lucifer is the Sin of Pride btw)
4. Ars Goetia (also whom you can see in the Sister show 'Helluva Boss', they are basically Demon Royalty)
5. Overlords (Sinners who own Souls. The more you own, the stronger you are. They control Pentagram City, where the show takes place. Alastor, for example, is an Overlord)
6. Sinners (The people of earth who died an went to hell. For example, Angel Dust or Niffty or every other 'normal' Person.)
7. Imps & Hellhounds (the hellborn Creatures who are the lowest of the low, alsowhom you can see in the Sister show 'Helluva Boss').
So why is everyone treating Charlie like she is an absolute Joke? Because she is a Disney Princess in hell, basically. She is to nice, to naive and way to innocent. After all, she is a Nephilim, a Child of an Angel and a Mortal.
Well now I’m kind of freaked out!
Because if I did my nutritional facts label right, Charlie is 50% Demon, 25% Human and 25% Angel.
That’s 100% Nephilim in godspawn.
And that’s why I’m so freaked out.
Who ever does the species in hell has now respect for logic and math!
There is a companion series to this show on the creator's (Vivziepop) TH-cam channel called Helluva Boss. The best part is that any videos from her official channel she allows to be shown in full and unedited on reaction videos. Vivziepop (Vivienne Medrano) has expressed that she enjoys reaction channels covering her work and encourages them to show her full videos in their reactions. This means all episodes of Helluva Boss as well as the Hazbin pilot don't need to be hidden behind a paywall on Patreon. Though remember the Hazbin pilot is the only exception of all the Hazbin episodes as it is the only one still outright owned by Vivienne and not Amazon Prime and A24. Highly recommend you watch the Hazbin Hotel music video "ADDICT".
It was made after the pilot, but before Amazon picked it up. Adds some more context to Angel Dust's character and its damn catchy.
I love love LOVE finding new reactors to this show! There's something so inspiring about a bunch of amateur artists creating a pilot on TH-cam and it resonating so much that it gets actual backing from A24. I understand that the optics of the cast being 99% queer in hell is not the greatest but it's also one of the ONLY cartoons I've seen with a majority queer cast (and I'm ace so trust me our rep is practically non existent). I'll be watching along! I hope that if you haven't already, you check out the sister show, Helluva Boss, after this! It's set in the same universe but goes to other rings of hell as well and is more about demons than sinners. Very, very good!
a cool sub we had in middle school that allowed peaople only to have to do a little work then hang out after constatly would say "thats so uncool" when someone did something bad.
You are one of the few reactors I've seen who immediately got the Jeffery Dahmer joke. Good on ya.
All the little nods and details in the show and characters makes this even more amazing. Example, in the pilot, all the drugs in the vending machine are actually IRL names for different drugs. And Alastor has a radio filter voice because he was a radio broadcaster back in the 30s before he died.
I love Vox's design too. He's not meant to be Alastor level of scary though. He's more of a lowkey political and control type of frightening. And him and The Vs are supposed to be main antagonists for Season 2.

No, this is definitely NOT for kids. Fair warning, episode 4 is the only 18+ episode in the season. It deals with abuse in a very intense way but also has 2 of my favorite songs in the show (and this show has amazing songs).

I love Lilith and Lucifer story something of this is even in demonology.

I hope you will react to Helluva Boss too, it's set in the same universe, from the same author and it's entirely on youtube (which means you can watch it wothout editing). Its more character driven that plot, with some amazing songs too, and I like it even better than Hazbin

Adam is sush a good villain, he is one of my favorite, he is a toxic misogynistic douchebag that you have fun love to hate. For a musical show about princess of hell trying to redeem sinners, leader of exorcists, archangel rockstar and first human winner Adam is so fitting for this. He's funny and entertaining. He's complete opposite of Charlie, but they're both have something common, they are both too immature for those over a hundred years old, they both don't understand how the world works, and both of their character and behavior don't correspond to the environment of their world. Charlie is a demon in hell, but as person she's a true angel who committed all 7 virtues in first episode "overtue", she's singing disney princess songs, loves cute stuff, rainbows and all heaven wibe, when Adam is an angel in heaven, but as person he's true demon who committed all 7 deadly sins in the same episode, he likes rock/metal, cool stuff, he even said that he likes hell's wibe and tunes, he always wears demonic looking mask and doesn't take off unlike Lute and other exorcists. Charlie's trying to solve the problem of overpopulation of sinners by the idea of redeeming them, so basically pacifist route, when Adam's idea is exterminating sinners, genocide route. Also his story is opposite to our main characters sinners, who's trying to get redeemed and become better in hell, when he's a first winner who's spoiled and become worse in heaven. The main guestion, why Adam is an asshole and in heaven? Note to the beginning when Lucifer gave Eve fruit of knowledge (where's popular theory that after Eve ate apple, Root of all Evil took over her body and became a character named Roo, a future antagonist). So, when Eve ate apple, Adam is nowhere to be seen. So basically in hazbin hotel universe, Adam didn't ate apple. Do you know what it means? So basically Adam is a child in grown man's body who doesn't ’t have parents and doesn't have any knowledge about morals, what's right or wrong, the difference between good and evil and he couldn't acknowledge his mistakes like being a masagionist is wrong. He get to heaven (in ep 6 and 8 we learn that angels don't choose which soul get to heaven or hell, they get automatically). Higher angels acceptd him as one of their own, thinking that if he's in heaven, that means he's good flawles person and everything what's he's doing is ok and they don't argue with him. They teach him black and white rules. Angels in heaven are good, sinners in hell are evil. Just because he's a first human soul in heaven they give him higher status,labeled him as someone so special and significant important, fed him a story as flawless man and progenitor of mankind and the fact that he had a life without normal discipline and punishment, he never faced a consequences of his own actions, so he never learned from his mistakes. So basically Adam get corrupted by all this and doing whatever he wants for his own entertainment and also maintains his importance in heaven, and he became spoiled frat dudebro with God complex. He swears a lot because again, he is a big extremely immature child who didn't normally grow up in heaven, so basically he as child thinks that swearing is cool and angels don't argue with him about that. He's being merciless towards sinners is also understandable. Besides of angels bad teaching about black and white, Adam just like Lucifer didn't saw anithing good from sinners for ten thousands years, even Lucifer didn't care about sinners and he just like Sera gave Adam permission to kill them "go ahead and kill averyone". So Adam couldn't understand the value of the souls of sinners, so for him it's ok to kill evil sinners and have fun like a doomslayer gamer, or just like Finn and Jake have fun killing evil monsters. Extermination of sinners for him is like a special party that he can't do in heaven every time he wants, because Adam tired of everything good and perfect in heaven, he even pointed that he likes tunes and wibe in hell more than in heaven in first episode. Also unlike lute and other exorcists who takes masks off Adam always wears demon looking mask even in heaven. Why? Because behind that mask of cool happy narcissistic chad, for whom everything is great in heaven and has everything, hiding a sad loser who has nothing, with insecurity and selfloathing because he lost his two wifes, and possibly Cain and Able story (no wonder he hates sinners). He even overeats to suppress his feelings and become fat, even Lucifer pointed that Adam let himself go. I can't wait for him to return as a sinner in season 2. He's one of my favorites, alongside with Sir Pentious, Lucifer, Vox and Baxter
