I agree I switched to an cabrinha nitro apex (sls from cabrinha) and neet to recognize that before doing kiteloops I felt it just a bit more forgiving and stable, but since I do kiteloops I understand the real benefits, catch me so fast that I build a lot of confidence !!
First, I wasn't sure that I need an SLS kite, now I'm sure I want one :-D Thanks for the video. I thought you share more insights from the experience in trying those other SLS kites but getting just the conclusion is good enough.
@@vikingh3008 I own an aluula wing. It definitely is a game changer, but the delamination is an issue. I have used my wing for 3 years though, so it's definitely a used wing, but you just cannot resell this wing after 2-3 years, because of the white patches of delaminated aluula.
Hi, I switched to SLS 2 years ago when i was riding Duotone Neo..that in jargon we call it 'the truck' 😂, instantly I felt a much lighter pressure on the bar, that allowed me to ride and control much better with one end and achieve toeside upwind. Recently I switched to EVO SLS and besides the bar pressure being even lighter and the upwind capability incredible, I am progressing very fast in any new trick that I try...of course I also got better in general compared to last years. I get to teach beginners with many different brands and kite models, but I really have to confirm that Duotone SLS are great kites one step above many many others...unfortunately I also must agree that on land they are much more delicate and expensive to buy and repair properly. Cheers 🤙🤙🤙
You know what is a confirmation bias? Cos i see some of it in your words. My point is- we all naturally progress as we kite more and more. You credit all your progress to sls. I credit it you getting better. Probably would have happened too without an sls kite too. Maybe slower. Maybe faster. Sls only helps if you good enough. Insee lately so many kiters being really bad riders on aluulas. They might be more invested in to kiting as they burned 3k on gear. Thats a motivational factor too. All this rabbit hole is way deeper than just the kite is better or worst. Look at the riders 15 years ago with pretty bad kites compared to todays kites - doing everything and more that you and i do together. Ponder on this 🙌 and keep progressing
@EpicGust I get what you mean and I partially agree that's why I specified that I also got much better. I do the same tricks with super cheap, old torn kites, but especially when it is about looping I think that the superiority it is undeniable. Keep rocking, I really enjoyed your stuff.
since the answer i was keep thinking - much more can be cos of the conditions and your progression than the kite itself. Maybe you had some good flat session where you could master your takeoff- the you kept progressing maybe some waves - kickers, you got better timing, and voila all was possible. It is never the kite it is always the rider.
@@peteribs5643 true i even have a wing like that, great stuff. Yet amaong kites i dont know wich is that and if they call it with a specific name like sls or not?
the fact is one. while people try to explain how duotones are not the best kites for a number of reasons. dutone sell over 50% of kites in the world... they innovate, everyone else is catching up...
If you would have watched the video - which you did not - you would know the takeaway is that i wont be able to go back to a non SLS kite. Duotone created here a remarkable step forwad, more affordable than aluula but already noticable changes from simple dacron. Comes with downsides but they are not important factors for me. Kudos

THats weird - I bought several ozone edge the past 6 months, V12. They dont seem to made from light material - it is not the dacron that the other sls kite has, also doesnt seemed too light for me. (i did not measure it) I dont see any ultra x edge. There is the vortex that is ultra x but thats aluula so different leauge.
@@EpicGust Ozone knows how to keep kite light, the Edge and the Enduro are still not ultra X, probably in September will arrive the Enduro ultra X the Edge is a wonderful kite I have 2 V10 in 10 and 8 meters, I can get upwind so fast that I never see others kiters doing it, and never get overpowered early
@@EpicGust I also care a lot about my kites. But sometimes things do happen, you know? Bad launching, kite does fly/roll downwind over the beach, or coming to the shore, the wind is gusting at 60 - 65 kts, I have to flag out even the 5 qm kite when I can’t hold the power, and so on… Somehow I am always lucky enough, that in my good one year of kiting I did not get holes, rips and cuts in my kites. I just damage my twintips kinda always…
Hmmm.. Is there not another aspect with harder kites on gusty days...? Harder kites are less comfortable in gusty winds. the rider gets the direct feedback from the kite and has to absorb those gust on the bar, while a non SLS kite does absorb the gust by bending itself. Maybe also a point beside the prize which a kiter who doesn't care that much about performance should think about...?
I flew aluula kites that has the most rigid frame. Also 7-9 atachement points per side on the bridle (thats extra stiffness) It does react faster to the wind changes for sure, but somehow it is not waht you expect rather a fast kite reacting well. It doesnt make it shaky or whatever else was in your head. Not on the SLS either. They all able to bend. for turning thats a must for a kite (there is a slight twist happnes). If you do not care about the performance and you wnat a kite to live 5 plus years withyou then dont go SLS way!
I paused the video twice to see if it was another tab playing the music. To high and difficult to stay calm listening to you. take it as feedback for improvement, not a complain.
