Jacob, you are not long-winded. You give thorough, detailed, thoughtful answers. That’s a good thing. You are a good speaker and clearly an interesting person. I hope you are able to find more peace within yourself through this process of learning about NPD, self reflection and increasing your insight into your thought patterns and behaviours. NPD sounds like it encompasses a lot of thought patterns which severely impair self-acceptance or a sense of inner peace. I hope through intellectualising your thoughts and behaviour you can find routes to inner peace instead.

Great work. You are putting a lot of good out into the world by giving a more nuanced view of NPD and personality disorders in general. A quote comes to mind: "There isn't anyone you can't learn to love once you've heard their story." Not sure who said it, but I think you are contributing to a deeper understanding and compassion for folks struggling with these disorders. Thank you.

People don't understand that narcissistic Personality disorder is who the person is. And if a person doesn't have the awareness they will not change. I think it's awesome when an individual gets help and they accept it and really change. Good for you..I hope more people find awareness and actually decide to change.

Thank you for breaking down an understanding of what NPD is, especially from an internal standpoint. While getting my degree in psychology/Phil. it was really depressing how professors and student’s perceptions were so cut off from understanding anything outside of themselves. ..
I’m sick of everything being labeled “bad or awful” because people are too lazy or just don’t want to understand the deeper motivations behind disorders, as well as any internal experiences that may come with it. I don’t think we’re helping or addressing anything if we’re not looking for the roots ..

Exactly! I'm so tired of the hate and vitriol tbh (I'm cluster b). We are basically adult children who went through hell. I am not proud of that and how it affected me and I am not proud of my behavior in the past.

Im extremely impressed by youre level of self-awareness. I hope you could understand that without having success, you are still perfectedly worthy. Its also important to understand that every single person feels pain and suffering in life in some way, and this helps to connect with others and realize that there really isnt a competition in life. The car example is interesting to me, because even if your friend runs errands first, what matters is that he is there to help you. You never know why he feels like he needs to run the errands first.

@@Thenamelessnarcissist If you reflected on events from your childhood that are remarkable. You will understand what forced your personality.
You would begin to recognize yourself and could begin to question symptom expressions with Socratic questioning.
      Belief > Thought > Feeling > Action = Conduct.
Your conduct is already the disorder because of your beliefs. And consequently his character expresses the disorder.
Questioning the "dysfunctional beliefs" that in your opinion or according to psychopathology trigger the symptoms, expressed in your behavior.
You have a lot of knowledge about psychopathology and you analyze yourself.
Day by day, if questioned and seeing the opposite side and the evidence for and against your beliefs that trigger the behaviors, you would start to stimulate a new neuroplasticity.
I know a friend who also has this psychopathology, but for her it's not simple because she doesn't have that knowledge of herself like you do. And she for years had no access to treatment or information.
And also she has 25 years without diagnosis.
She has eliminated 3 symptoms in the last 11 months and is now going to be tested for my work on cognitive psychology as proof of the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral psychology.
The longer you go without questioning the "why" and "what is the evidence to the contrary?" more will reinforce your behavior.
      Talk it over with yourself.
I have a degree in cognitive behavioral psychology and psychoanalysis. The treatment you need is in your mind.

Yup. Great work. I haven't heard you talking about published studies in any detail before now and you did a great job. I used to be a scientist and have a Ph.D. in psychology (did evolutionary stuff though). And the bit focussing on what happens when grandiosity is burst and bursting thresholds was really useful. Difficult to see how you'd get through to a narcissist in grandiose mode though. Perhaps you might explain if there's an approach which might be constructive.

Do you believe that Narcasistic abuse usually follows a certain pattern? *I know not all narcasists are abusive.*

    • @emerald5824
      @emerald5824 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think when narcissists abuse people it's often a retaliation to a perceived slight. The perceived slight is something the non-narcissist wouldn't understand at all. Combined with the lack of empathy, it's kinda a recipe for abuse. I think self awareness is pretty powerful for a narcissist to be able to recognize when their perception doesn't = something worthy of retaliation. Therapy is good for that.
Also when the idealization turns into devaluation. I think self awareness in that aspect is also useful.

How can anyone not see this is all a grift? Just look at all the attention, praise, and free validation always given in the comments. It’s almost as if these people have zero grasp on what they’re dealing with.
