    Simply and absolutely beautiful and thank you to the donators of these great stones. Since they are screwed one row at a time, they don't add weight to the lower levels. Great product...

    Helpful? Enjoyable? Paul, Emily, that was awesome! One of the best bang for your buck, drop dead feature walls. And a little girl who might have a memory of daddy building the chimney in a day! How Awesomer than that can you get! FR

      @@MrPostFrame Paul, Emily, ya'll did the work! I merely ate pop corn and watched as it developed. I have wanted a home like that since I was old enough to work on the lawn mower myself. A house with a close shop for me to keep all the gears grinding and "my projects". I'm just jealous, is all! ;) FR
      PS; The thing about the Versetta Stone wall was the lagniappe good parents deserve. fr

    It looks like at 18:30 you put up two pieces on the second to last full width courses and didn't screw them in before putting another piece on top for the last full width course and leveling it and screwing it in. It may have been done off camera. It looks great and I'm going to do the same thing, just in a different style. I really like the angle iron idea.

    Nothing like a simple DIY build your own entire home project and get to do it in flip flops.
    On a more serious note, the wood stove could be a bit larger? Your stove will give off a lot of BTU.
    Mow the lawn and finish the mantel all in on day only with proper planning and the right tools and equipment...plus the right little helper.

      @@MrPostFrame I've been through several masons before and have yet to find a good one, which is why I was looking at versa stone. HD had 200sqft market down 30% but it was the the wrong color. Even at that discount it was still several thousand. So we're still looking for options.

    Very nice, looks great. Wish I had that Versetta stone when I did my stove, used mortar and grout with the castle stone. Instructions suggested working top to bottom to keep mortar off the already placed stone, but the pieces kept falling off so I switched directions so as not to get hit in the head, came out great.

    So the stone is class A rated from what I saw. We just bought a large JA Roby cuisenere wood cook stove so I’m trying to watch what people have done. Ours will be up against a sheet rock wall so I was looking to need to offset 1” from the wall for a thermal break to reduce distance to offset the stove. Essentially a floating wall, since considering this product I wonder if it is safe to go right to the Sheetrock. This question of how to do the wall portion is basically covered nowhere. Maybe I should put concrete board behind first then the versetta stone.
    I’m not sure if any of that made sense

  • @joopterwijn
    @joopterwijn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The moment you tell us the audience about the mantel 80” ... etc I noticed 79 likes and 1 dislike (why,..?) well that’s 80 to so that made perfectsence (hahah 🤪😂) beautiful fire place!

    Great video! It looks like you set the Starter strip to rest on top of the hearth. Is there any reason I cant keep my starter strip elevated about 3/8" inch, instead of resting on my finished floor? My concern is that if (when) I eventually replace the laminate floor it would make removal of the existing floor more difficult.

  • @p51mustang31
    @p51mustang31 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome build! If my wall board is just 1/2" Drywall, I assume each panel needs to be screwed through into studs? What if I have only a partial piece that doesn't land on a stud?

  • @thomasduin2746
    @thomasduin2746 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you notch the fastening strip on the stone on each edge so it did not sit on top of the angle iron?

      The plywood allowed to screw in anywhere without being worried that it wouldn't hold, so it's probably a good idea!

    Isn't it better to install the mantle first and then install the stone above and below it? Now you're going to have gaps when you install the mantle over the uneven stone surface and it won't sit flat.
