Your documentaries are wonderful. My mom met Tony in 1950, when she was working as a receptionist at Universal Studios on 5th Ave, NYC. She saw him every day for two weeks. Other women who worked at the studio asked mom if she wanted to trade places with them while Tony was at the studio. She told them to get lost.........
Mr Skinner it's an enormous pleasure to see the excellent work you've done with Mr. Anthony Curtis, one of my favorite actors. The way you go and unravel the complicated life some of them have lived, then shairing with us the finish work is amazing. Thank you so much.
You Are Family Mr. Skinner.....Thank You as always for bringing your stories to ALL of our Kitchen Tables and reciting the tales in your home spun voice! You Are Appreciated.....Cheers From Ohio
I met Tony while out walking by the ocean in Cannes in the south of France in 1974. I was with my girl friend and he was coming out of a hotel one morning, my girlfriend just ran up to him and asked if she could have a photo taken I with him and he was so happy to pose with her while I took the picture, he was so so polite and happy and talked with us for a while.I have always liked him since I was a kid,. Thanks for a great video.
I lived in Nice at this time, and was fortunate to see Tony on another occasion, he and Roger Moor were filming a car chase scene on Promenade des Anglaise that was awesome to see.
I met Tony at the Night of 100 stars Oscar Gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I think it was in 2006. I have a pic with him. He was very happy and nice. That’s how I remember him.
Jerry Skinner: Well done!!! I met Mr. Curtis very briefly in 1979. He was making a racehorse picture called "Little Miss Marker" in Santa Rosa, Calif. It was a remake of a Adolph Mengue and Shirley Temple movie. Mr Curtis's Characters name was Blackie, a Bookie. I was hired on as Rangler taking care of the horeses and as an extra. My father who was a Professional Jockey along with other jockeys rode the horses in the movie. One day I was walking to lunch and on my way past Mr Curtis and we gave each other a professional greeting and walked on. On my way back I noticed Mr. Curtis was riding a horse with my Dad's saddle underneath. Just thought I'd share that with y'all. Thank you.
Tony Curtis was a favourite actor of mine. You say that Houdini came out in 1953 which means I could have seen it at the Bayview theatre in Toronto when I was only 5. This may have occurred but since I have a strong memory of that entire movie I think I was at least a couple of years later than this. Maybe the manager brought it in as an older movie. Through my teens I saw all the light romantic comedies he was in with my girlfriend Christine. I always found you could count on a Tony Curtis movie. I later gained respect for his serious acting. Thanks for this.
'Jerry' - Thank you from the bottom of my heart for an excellent study about a man I liked very much as I was growing up, only knew from his 'stage' presence. Liked that 'image' he projected and the way he did it a great deal & now appreciate him even more now, thanks to you, what the real man was like and what his real life was like. Makes me like him even more. All the best.
Hi Jerry, actually at the 30th Academy Awards in 1957 Alec Guinness won Best Actor, the following year in 1958 Tony Curtis was nominated for Best Actor along with Sidney Poitier but it went to David Niven for his performance in Separate Tables! Still its a fine tribute to Tony Curtis!!
I was only 3 when "Houdini" came out, so I had to wait until it was shown on TV to watch it. It immediately became my favorite Tony Curtis movie. Mr. Curtis was my first Hollywood crush, lol. He was one of the most attractive men I have ever seen. I appreciate all of the work you put into making your videos. They are always excellent. A special thank you for this one.
Thanks Jerry another great actor and very good looking one of my favourites there is not many left now it’s a shame because they are not like they used to be. Thanks again Jerry
Mr. Curtis is one of my favorite Actors and was very Personable and also Generous in conversation with persons. He was a Classy Gentleman too when it dictated. A Clever Man capable of capturing the imagination!!! Miss Jamie Leigh is very similar and also a Classy Person!!!
No parent is obligated to leave their worldly possessions to their children when their spouse is still living. When my stepfather died, it all rightfully went to my mother. In 1950, mom was the screening room receptionist at Universal Studios when it was located on 5th Avenue in NYC. Tony was there with then-wife Janet Leigh. Mom gave him his mail every morning for two weeks. He was 26 and she was 16. She said he was the most gorgeous man she'd ever seen.
I had a brief encounter with Tony Curtis. And thought his sense of humor was insensitive. After watching this video, I feel I understand him a little better. Thank you.
Never judge another, we each have a path chosen by our Soul for purposes we can only know when we return to the fullness of that Nonphysical Soul energy. Embrace your you, know your worth, and set in the feelings of Love ...
My mother used to watch his movies when I was a kid. Thank you for letting me know more about him I didn't know he had married so many women. It was interesting to see his life and I didn't know mental illness was in his family either. You never know what people endure on their journey through life
Tony Curtis, an acquaintance of mine. What you saw on film, you experienced in person. A delicious energy of real, yourhful, fun. He was truly a positive individual, adored by his friends and family.
I met Tony Curtis and his Wife Jill at a soft opening of the Wynn Casino where he and his Wife joined me for a drink and great conversation. I lived in Northen Virginia and Jill brought up her passion of horses where she was familiar with the many horse farms in Middleburg, Virginia. Tony was a very nice man and I enjoyed my moment of meeting him.
Good video as always, Jerry. I have to say that Tony Curtis was one of the most outspoken celebrities I've ever seen. He never pulled punches in interviews, and sometimes I winced at his answers. But an interesting person with an interesting career. Thanks again - Diane.
Wow! That was an incredibly good production. I’ve always been a admirer of Tony Curtis. This documentary certainly did him and his family a great service. Many details that are not highlighted in his many interviews. The only thing that seems to be missing was that he also wrote an autobiography that is still available. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and the gentleman who narrates has a wonderful almost whimsical tone that comes easy and smoothly. Very professional but also personable. I’ll be looking through some more of these to put in the Watchlist for later. Great job.
Another great production, Jerry, thanks! I love the new look to the opening credits, the music, your narration (as always)! Looking forward to the next biography!
Excellent video - thank you, Jerry! I had no idea that he led such a difficult early life. The way he was treated by his mother, it's understandable why he was not very successful in his relationships. Makes me wish for a video about Jamie Lee (hint hint ;) because it makes you wonder how she seemed to manage to grow up to a decent woman!
Young man saw the Great Race first film i cried with laughter, four o clock in the morning up and at um there's a polar bear in the back of the car, what has happened to comedy, sadly they invented canned laughter.love this one Jerry only thinking about this film not shown over here any longer, thumbs up.
It would have meant more if Tony and Jill had as much sympathy toward his children as they did towards horses. Those are great insightful words. No one likes to be cast off by their parents and watch strangers grab with both hands. They should have been considered even to a small degree, Better than none.
Mr. Skinner, I don't know if u remember me or not but I am from around the same neck of the woods as you are and a while back I commented on how you remind me of my family in your wonderful storytelling. I am saddened to tell you I lost that dear family member to a massive heart attack. But every time I hear you tell a story I think of him, he is in the only good memories I have from my childhood. Thank you so much for every video u make for us. It brings so much more good than we even realize. Hope all is well with you and your loved ones.
Thank you Sweet Serenity, yes i remember and thank you for your kind words. By the way, i loved your video of the kids being chased by the rooster that was funny. Jerry
@@JerrySkinner1943 I'm glad to share the love of and for my family. I tell my boys anytime u can offer more love and positivity to the world do so bc there is too much ugly already. He used to host a show called Hollywood Babylon, where he woudl share personal tidbits at the end of him and his career in Hollywood's Golden Age. One story i always remember was the one he told of when he had first adopted his stage name of Tony Curtis (as he was born Bernie Schwartz), and had been practicing his 'new' introduction for Hollywood parties , saying 'hi im tony curtis, hi im tony curtis' in hopes to work his old name out of his mouth. He had met someone, i cannot remember whom but he was nervous in their meeting, and when he went to introduce himself he said 'hi im bernie schwartz' lolololol
Tony was never afraid he wouldn't be cast in movies because he was Jewish. That must be a story he thought would be good to tell. Hollywood is a Jewish entity, being Jewish would never have stood in his way and was probably a huge asset for him. He turned out to be a terrible womanizer and never grew up in that regard. but considering all he had to overcome early in life, he did well for himself. You did a fantastic job on this.
You need to remember it was right after wwII. Some Americans held a grudge against the Jewish people because they lost their sons in the war. So he was right to some extent ie would people want to watch a Jewish boy in the movies.
@@marthaball8029 I couldn't disagree more. There was no anti Jewish feeling because of WW2. There may have been anti Japanese feelings but no antisemitism because of WW2 - the war wasn't fought over anti semitism at all. It wasn't about Jews.

Always loved Tony Curtis's work.
Loved this Actor , it seems to me all the great and successful people in the world have a tragic back story. Thank you for sharing
Tony Curtis was not just a pretty face he was actually a Damn good Actor.
Bravo, Mr. Skinner. You did it again.
Thank you Jerry for doing a video on Tony Curtis. Great actor R.I.P Tony 😎
I absolutely loved all of Toni‘s work with Jack. I always thought they made the best combination for a movie.

If anyone has any doubts about the talents of this Jewish pretty boy, watch the movie THE OUTSIDER. Curtis's performance is absolutely outstanding!
Thank you Jerry. As always, exceptional
As per usual, a great documentary as only you can make. Thank you Jerry!

I think Jill was behind it…she knew his health was declining.
I recall in U.K. in middle 1950s many young men would go to Barbers/ gents hairdressers, ask for Tony Curtis, hair style.
