Tony Curtis is a legend! I am 58 and lived him when I was a kid when I would watch all his fantastic movies! Trapeze The Great Race! Etc! Still love the man! Rip Tony
Tony Curtis is one of the best actors of all time. So is his wife Janet Leigh and daughter Jamie Lee Curtis. They lived long enough to see Jamie succeed into the movie Industry. Janet was 77 when she passed in 2004 and Tony was 85 when he passed in 2010. I thank Jamie's Parents and John Carpenter for her successful career as an actress
What a wonderful actor he was! Very striking looking and big box office for a long time! Great humor. I could listen to him reminisce about his movies for hours! Dave is a great interviewer, let's his guests speak without cutting them off and quick with a laff. So glad I saw this! Thanks!
The G.I. Bill, this was back when our country truly supported their people, and, after WW2, had their servicemen set up for their future. Oh, I wish I could see the country headed that direction now ~ where we all had some level of care and respect for one another. Curtis is an incredible man, as he is one of the men that worked his way to the top. He truly paid his dues ~ huge, huge respect for this man.
GI Bill still exists and works quite well - I don't know what you're talking about. Did you not serve or did you not talk to a College Tuition Advisor? ...or a Veterans Affairs Admin.? . Yeah, Bets get lots of support - if they look just a little...very little.
Race pride is BAAL , false idolatry . Ancestor worship is a primitive religion and anti Christ . America is a country that does not need division that conquers us . One nation under God , to stand STRONG against the perverted enemies of Jesus Christ . If people were obedient to their Father in Heaven , Tony's brother and Rodney Dangerfield wouldn't have been molested by men . Pride is a sin , and the sin of Sodom is looking at people with haughty eyes ,and loving the creation more than the creator . Tony 's accomplishments are HIS , and all blessings come from God . We all come from Adam , and the three sons of Noah . Tony adopted a little girl , how have the rest of us served The Holy and Pure Creator today ? Don't try to divide our American country , we are all sinners - some of us saved by the blood of the Lamb Jesus , and some of us repentant in His name . Bolchevism bad . Balkanisation is division and weakens us .
I was 13 when I first saw him in a film called, the prince who was a thief! I fell hard for him, and never stopped. When he came to London where I grew up for a charity event with Janet Leigh, my friend and I waited outside. He didn’t have time to give an autograph but they were so nice!! That night we went to wait outside their hotel where other fans were. He came outside and I was able to touch his face and got his autograph. I was 13 and my friend was 14! Tony was a lovely man!
What a lovely and upbeat , kind man! I didn’t know Tony went to acting School at the New School in NY City! I went to the New School to study music and philosophy etc.. Fabulous inspiring place!
The essence of cool. I cried as a kid when he as Harry Houdini died. He was a self made man and became a great actor who starred in the golden age of Hollywood Films. Had a great sense of humor. As great a name as it was and top shelf among cartoonphiles, he only appeared in the Flintstones one time as Stony Curtis!.
Just watched Tony Curtis & Frank Sinatra in Kings go Forth. What splendid acting by these screen giants - Tony was such a professional he could up the quality of acting standards of all seriously good actors he worked with m. Tony was/is an Acting Legend. He loved Gunda Din, as did I, my love, particularly, was with Rudyard Kipling. However, Tony’s presence, on screen outshone his handsome features - that’s saying something. Let’s show love & respect for those serious actors, who may have clowned around, but put their ALL into reflecting life’s rich pageant on screen. All my love, Jane Russell
The story is....Curtis pulled up to the school in the limousine, saw Matthau, rolled down the window and yelled "I JUST FUCKED YVONNE DECARLO!" and sped off (DeCarlo shared a dancing scene with Curtis in 'Criss-Cross.') Matthau confirmed this story as well.
As a kid in 1970s Britain I saw The Defiant Ones, an old black and white movie in more than one way. Mr Curtis and Sir Sidney Poitier taught me so much about racism, how we carry preconceived ideas. It should be compulsive viewing in all schools.
@@dongiller Lo oked right after I said it. Dave really pushed the nudity a little too far though. Hard to tell if she was really up set or not. She still looks good, But she was really good looking back then.

Well, the late actress Yvonne DeCarlo did author a Tell All book around this same time, listing names like Burt Lancaster & Clark Gable, etc. which she got alot of flak for,....Hey I'm all for womans rights!
@Good For Nutting This was a sensible toupee, but a toupee all the same. He lost his hair in the 1970s. Letterman knew this and was trying to put Curtis in his place after making such an excitable entrance. Later rugs were far more extravagant and much to his detriment.
Class, talent and charm. The consummate gentleman. Star. Icon.

Tony always had a smile and twinkle in his eyes.
I got to meet Mr. Curtis at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu. I was struck by his beautiful blue eyes.🥰😊

Great actor ! He was so handsome when he was young !!! Even older he was goodlooking
He was always so charismatic ❤❤❤👍
I'm a Hungarian-born Rom of mixed, partial Jewish and non-Jewish Magyar-descent. Tony makes me so proud to be a Hungarian-American. R.I.P. Mr. Curtis.

Absolutely charming, funny, gentleman and humble. One of my childhood idols

I liked him as Danny Wilde in the Persuaders.
Great show! It was like watching a free movie, every week, with two big stars!
David Letterman is one of the sharpest and also funniest guys on the talk show circuit. He gets the best out of his guests. Very smart guy.
Great honesty from a great man.
Cheerful, funny, spoke very well and I learned about his early days. Have seen comedic and dramatic roles. Won't forget them😊
One of the nicest compliments I received a girl said I looked like Tony Curtis one of my favorite movie stars. I was 18 at the time.
Gross
Tony was great good all around actor cool guy
I love this guy Tony he’s so natural and no bull shit RIP Tony
in the 60 s Tony Curtis was one of the highest paid star.
and the most handsome of them all when young in the fifthies rip
If you ever feel down watch a Tony Curtis interview. He is a tonic for the blues.
Como se extraña estos grandísimos actores en estos tiempos. 2021
This man is all class which you will not find in any of the buffoonish actors of today.
Thank you Tony, for having that conversation.
He was so lovely 😍 RIP

That's a movie star!
He was one of the best.
Noone like this today, sadly.
He was so handsome, and his movies were very good
I loved him in The Seven Year Itch with Marilyn Monroe, such a versatile actor ..
tony never was in this movie but he was with marylin in some like hot 1959 rip
Jack Lemon, Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe
Tom Ewell starred opposite Marilyn in The Seven Year Itch 🙄
Seems like a nice guy.
Tony was awesome
5:26 - "I was a shoplifter, yes." He actually was a shoplifter in the Bronx and in Manhattan - he slipped that private joke in - he wasn't kidding.
Tony Curtis was a handsome humble snazzy gentleman ❤❤

Tony is trueful in saying he made it in acting because he was so good-looking
Although he was a great actor Loved his films
what a good looking man in his 60s
Tony was great- he and Jack Lemmon, together in "Some Like It Hot"- (with the sizzling Marilyn Monroe).
Now I have to see if the interview with Jaimie Lee is on here. I just watched the one the one from 1955. Tony is a great story teller.
It is.

No, they didn't tape two different versions. And see jmd26's note below.
Perhaps his salute happened on one of his three subsequent appearances. Will check.
That was a different appearance with Letterman. It's on TH-cam, just search for "Tony Curtis Yvonne DeCarlo".

Tony was Great in the movie called The Great Race
Modern day actors don't have this kind of movie star charisma any more. In fact, we don't really have movie stars any more, imho.
