This is the reason: here is another lovely young slip of a woman from the UK, with a beautiful high-pitched voice - someone who fits our culturally approved version of femininity to a T. Representing the fact that to be a woman is NOT to be a doormat. To be a woman is to take hold of ones artistic gifts, if one possesses them, and use them to spread light and happiness, make LOTS of money, and to unceremoniously dump morons who try to take a piece out of you on the curb.
Ironically, she is still working in the industry ...and in fact you've probably heard her music in the last 15+ years, it's just done by other artists.

I'm a huge fan of historical radio and TV broadcasting, and am admittedly a non-PC, old-fashioned guy; but Dees always made me cringe on this show. Anytime he had a beautiful woman on the couch, he'd get pretty creepy and leering. Pissed me off. I'd be thinking at the time, "You're better than this, man."
