Anomen was one of the best NPC of BG2. His whole story changes based on the decision to take revenge or not. Obviously the Anomen that passes his test is the best Anomen, but I respect that he isn't a one dimensional character. He truly admires your PC which is sweet. He is also one of the most powerful NPC in the game. He was my first video game crush back in 1999. Although he is brash and can be annoying at times, I wouldn't have it any other way tbh. He is always in my group.
Ah, Anomen. Thought the relationship was going pretty nicely, than he snaps on me in the grove, than he snaps on me again at the news of his sister. Good thing is that he admitted his mistakes and proposed otherwise... The game really tests your patience with this guy.
Ooh, my gosh. I LOVED Anomen when I first started playing this game. Of course, my Dad would tease me about him always "staying in the back". LOL. Great cleric. Not to mention HANDSOME~. ;D Thank you for sharing!
when i first met anomen i thought to myself.."this guy is a douche." because he looked down on the commoners and non-royalties. but as the game progressed...I noticed that he started to look up at me. he was always seeking my sides of things while not knowing that i'm more of "don't care, kill all who are bad" type person xD so in the quest where you go to his father, i told him to SPOILERS.........kill the guy. after everything was done with this, the game progressed more and i started to noticed anomen....losing himself. i mean, he was getting mad at me for no reason, and then later saying sorry. so i looked up his quest and later found out that you was'nt suppose to kill the man. sigh, and so my anomen was slowly turning crazy and was beginning to lose himself. I first thought this guy was a douche, but he really grows on you..he like, looks up to you as a guide and mentor. I did'nt want to see anomen lose his mind later on in the game and don't be a knight, so i reloaded a saved file much earlier in the game before i made the wrong choice. :] i'm doing this because i want anomen to succeed, and I'll be more careful with my choices and influence in the game
Well, it depends on how much patience you have xD I mean, the interesting thing about him is that you can really notice his big change of mind if he doesn't pass his knight test; He gets from the deeply insecure guy who tries to hide it talking about his great doubtly battle achivements, to the real one, who's surprisingly open-minded and... actually really nice; I think that the only way to find out is being into a relationship with him, which turns out to be REALLY interesting too... xD
Ok, so for Anomen lovers of chivalry out there, I highly suggest listening to two songs, "Lady" by Kenny ROgers and Lionel Richie and "Lady" by Styx, because now I can't hear them wiothout thinking they sound like Anomen wrote them for the main character based on how he likes to woo women. He really does love the main character and changes because someone believes in him and ends up being a solid rock for the character by Throne of Bhaal the tables seem to turn and he is the one offering spiritual guidance if you follow the good and chivalrous course. I personally like how they made Anomen flawed and relaistic, honestly almost annoying like an old 80s villain from a fantasy tv show like the old Robin Hood with Clannad Music. Makes sense considering age of voice actor. When I think of how many exhausting side quests there are in BG2 I really think the romances for women were totally ripped off, lol. Like we did not need *that* many side quests that didn't even involve party members. I think there could have been a lot more to the Anomen one. Spoiler. . . .. . . . It doesn't make sense to me there's not a third option, or why once you're a god, you can't carry on with any romance options in throne of bhaal, as that's what gods do. Also, considering Anomen, if you leave him to be a god, goes on to form the disciples of Anomen, and is very powerful himself, it's almost setting Anomen up to form a new cult of his own. I think I prefer the storyline where Anomen regains faith in himself and his faith through the romance, however, which he doesn't get in just the guy one. Also, I think Anomen is definitely interesting because of the paradoxes in his personality. I really think if they ever made BG into a series or movie, they need to have the Anomen romance in there. BG2 is pretty much Highlander in DND. But a good brother and good sister combo would be fine, with one of them perhaps choosing to ascend and the other staying in the mortal realm. Or better yet, sharing power, somethin Bhaal could never do. And after all this time, what kind of God is the child of Bhaal? I think that DND should have made this an official and cannon God in the pantheon to play by now.
@ssr18847 In Baldur's Gate, yes, as a female character you have one choice. Males get three, if I remember correctly- I've never played a male character in BG. Anomen more than makes up for the lack of choices IMHO, however, and I've been in love with that character since I was a young teenager and played the eagerly awaited sequel. :3
@FuruBaOtaku I know!! Same here! when ever my brother or dad would walk into the room, they would usually wait next to me untill Anomen decided to talk to my character. Then I would be like "ugh, not again." of course, they would just laugh, already knowing that's not my true response.
Anomen is in my opinion the most "human" game character ever. He is making mistakes, sure, but don't we all? I love him and his in-game romance :) After passing his Knight test we can notice a huge change in his behaviour and nice development. Also it's kinda interesting that he can be either evil or good, but that depends from us while doing his quest. I didn't like his CN version, cause then he was acting like a typical guy that thinks he can get anything he desires (no offense to the men). ^^
Is there an uploaded version without the romance anywhere to be found? Where he creates the Disciples of Anomen after a battle where he regains his faith in Helm :D
I had to kill him. He failed his test, he attacked my beloved Aerie, saying something along the lines of, "Hold your tongue woman!" ::Attacks:: Then later he got into a fight with the one paladin guy in my party and that was the end of it. I tried quick loading, hoping to reseed and avoid the event, but to no avail. Shame too - he's a good cleric, but it wasn't meant to be...
Hmm, well I played as a male and female in BG2 and I admit that I liked him nonetheless. In my opinion he changes much after his personal quest. Or maybe that's just me :P :)
I have one question about the NPC reactions at the end. Are they always the same? I chose to be mortal and none of them seemed too happy. I was expecting anomen to be pleased. They were all very neutral responces. Did any of the dialogue throughout the game affect any of the end, or does it all come down to your last choice? Does alignment play a role in the NPC Dialogues? ty
Not so with mods! There are plenty of romance mods to choose from for female characters. Some of them are really good as well. Others, not so much. However, both Edwin and Sarevok are fair game these days, in case you're interested. you can find their romances at Spellhold Studios. :D
Sarevok is your half-brother! Romancing him would be like romancing half-sister Imoen (for male protagonists). And Edwin is a misogynistic narcissist, who in their right mind would want him? Although of course Viconia is a misoandristic bully/narcissist as well, but still romanceable and somewhat redeemable (although why anyone sane would want her as a lover i know not). Well okay, let's say you could suffer alot of abuse in order to redeem Edwin by love as well, fine, it might be done, proving the worth of an intelligent, patient, kind, strong woman to him, causing him to question his shallow beliefs and reveal his vulnerable insecurities.
@@henrikljungstrand2036 I mean, I wrote that comment seven years ago, and I've never actually tried either mod myself. I just know that they exist. With regards to Sarevok, I'm pretty sure that divine essence doesn't work like DNA. You're siblings through magic; not through any actual familial relationship. You weren't even raised together. And as far as Edwin goes, the romance doesn't necessarily need to be healthy to be entertaining or engaging. I can see it making for a pretty interesting story to pair Edwin with a PC who is also an arrogant dick.
umm,i noticed in those videos of yours that the name of your character is mentioned as protagonist which is the default substitute for your pc.How did you trigger the endings without finishing the game?.
Anomen is most definitely NOT gay. You can only romance him if you play a female protagonist. He is mostly for the ladies playing Shadows of Amn, although sadly their only option (until Enhanced Edition - which doesn't really count since it's an addon by another team).

Whoa, Elminster himself married them?! Holy shit, that's epic!

I always liked Anomen. Very valuable cleric. He could have learned hold his wrath though....

thank you for all these endings, truly touched =]
I think it's REALLY unfair that he's the only love interest. What about evil ladies? Who will we have??? XD
his name is Robert Paulsen (check the credits, it really is)

No problem at all. I have also uploaded all of the other endings for the Baldur's Gate series for you to check out.
@CharlettMoon You have a great point.
But.
I used the flail :c
O right! Yeah that would explain it, I completely forgot that you could select a female as your main character, That would explain it.
remember you can still be a female protagonist..
Aw, yes! Anomen is cool! My character loves him :)

I always loved Anomen. He's so adorably annoying.
Do you know where I could find Anomen romance cutscenes? I'm planning to make a music video of Bioware romances
Thanks god for romance mods . . .

@dageezerboi you can kill anyone if you want. He is an awesome NPC though.

What If there was a Korgan romance, that would be wild!
@aerdrielove i got so sad when i realized i could not have a romance with Jan QQ
Yes, I know about them. But they are not official, so it's not the same for me. XD Maybe I'll try them someday though.
I have done Korgan...
edwin romance mod :-)
You could have Korgan...
can you kill this guy?
Adomen sadly was a mediocre Cleric...
Veronica was way better.
Nah Anomen is awesome with the Gauntlets of Dexterity and the wisdom boost for making him pass his Knighthood test
Awwww..... the Gay Romantic Fairy Tale Ending
i found him annoying. there should have been a kivan romance path instead
what?! no way! anomen was gay! what the heck, iv been playing the baldurs gate series for years and years and I never knew this lol. This is confusing
