Walking through the snowy streets of York, in the winter of 2001 half drunk with my first girlfriend happy and free. This song blaring out of the HMV store shop front as the snow falls heavily
Listened to this for the first time in many years. I couldn;t hear 2 bars before breaking down and crying. Was a song with a woman who changed her mind about me. It's good to enjoy the song as it was meant to be heard again. Time does heal all wounds.
Yep I still say her name, Amy, in my autonomic nervous system...one of my few virtual panic attacks...thanx for Fripp's caveat in Lisin' True...we never had 'em...love his empathy low note around 4:10 at end if song & his solo...b synth, they say...Dr. Fripp knows & sooner or later everbod gotta see the Doc
David Gray is one of the BEST performers in the world! Not only does he have the most gorgeous personality (his wife is very lucky!) but he plays guitar and piano beautifully and his voice is from another planet - just divine! Thanks for sharing your soul in your music with the world. A true gift of a person. x
As newlyweds, my wife introduced me to this song. Six years later, she left me. With some sadness still, she immediately comes to mind whenever I hear it.
Fond memories of Zermatt from the early 70s! Never went there but remember many sweaty nights in London with the daughter of Zermatt’s station master! Oh sweet memories. What a girl; what nights and days.
I’m so in love with this song! The musical composition, simplicity in his raspy voice, the relatable lyrics. I will forever listen to this song on repeat! ❤️🎵
I love his voice. To my ear he's one of the best singers the UK has produced over the last 20 years or so. I know that's a bold statement but I honestly can't think of many more with such a distinct, soulful and powerful voice. Plus he's always in tune. Simon Cowell would cut off one of his balls to have found David Gray.
Yes Simon Cowell would give his favoured left ball for David I’m sure. White Ladder is one of my top albums, a great Sunday drinking expensive fruity red with a dear friend, we hardly talk now but still great memories of a monumental Sunday made great by Mr Gray.
I'm one of your Spotify top fans! But you got it wrong David, it's your passion that keeps it going. Watching you reminds me of how much passion I have. It saved my life when I was lost, and keeps reminding how much of love I have for music. I can find that love of life again. Thank you
20/20 born in 85. Still lost. Faith and love keeps us holding. Cheers and amor for those still looking. I've felt it, lost it, and it's still worth it. That's why we should fight for it. A weak grasp or a tight clinch. It doesn't matter.
Can't argue with that comment. I have seen him live twice, great experience. Had tickets for this year's tour, but it's been postponed. See you in 2021 David.
Thanks Jules B andJeff S for such great comments. I was lucky to be in his his first recorded concert at The Point in Dublin. This is favourite song of all time. Means so much to me in Australia.
Just beautiful !! Always loved this track by David Gray - this live rendition is super, and great to see David smiling and enjoying his audience. Wow! Thanks a million for uploading this , and all the other great performances, Marcel!
Fantastic, by looking back this song has reminded me of a few things. I was only ever really motivated by finding love. Thats why I'm not rich, but I'm happy. Wish you guys happiness too :)
First time I heard/saw you was on Jools Hollands show gotta admit I tuned in because John Martyn and Joan Baez were on the bill but I'll never forget your 2 songs Bird's without wings and Shine we recorded the show and played it over and over 👌 my fav is Livingroom😊 😊😊😊
Friday night, I'm going nowhere All the lights are changing green to red Turning over TV stations Situations running through my head Looking back through time You know it's clear that I've been blind, I've been a fool To open up my heart to all that jealousy That bitterness, that ridicule Saturday, I'm running wild And all the lights are changing red to green Moving through the crowds I'm pushing Chemicals are rushing in my bloodstream Only wish that you were here You know I'm seeing it so clear I've been afraid To show you how I really feel Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made And if you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt Let go of your heart Let go of your head And feel it now Let go of your heart Let go of your head And feel it now Babylon, Babylon, Babylon Sunday, all the lights of London shining Sky is fading red to blue Kicking through the autumn leaves And wondering where it is you might be going to Turning back for home You know I'm feeling so alone I can't believe Climbing on the stair I turn around to see you smiling there In front of me And if you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt Let go of your heart Let go of your head And feel it now Let go of your heart Let go of your head And feel it now Let go of your heart Let go of your head And feel it now Let go of your heart Let go of your head And feel it now Babylon, Babylon, Babylon, Babylon, Babylon Ah
Perfect antidote to Fripp's Losin' True with Maggie (The Roches)..we never had her Loving vs. In Love! Sooner or later everyone has to see the Doctor; Fripp's sustained low note at near end of solo is catharsis... empath..like Heroes & Eno's collaborations with the Doc...David Gray is up in these stratospheres.. Blessu Amy
Nintendough Crazee!!...You are sooo right,my friend!!..I didn't realize that it was actually BREAD & POGO & other greats that this is surely reminding me of!!...We are both, ofcourse, telling our generation, but Britian`s music has also been inspiring, ingesting, repeating & starting great music for YEARS!!...Luv UK musicians & music lovers!!...they are so 'pure'.......a Chicago-edgy Gurl
I have always loved listening to David Gray and this is a fantastic live version of Babylon. I don't think the Swiss audience understood David's joke about interior design ideas! Our British sense of humour is very different from other European and indeed North American countries. And whilst on the subject of differences, yes "humour" is spelt correctly using the Oxford English Dictionary! Lol
If I was there I would be belting out this tune at the top of my lungs. LOVE IT! Its so sad that Dave doesn't have a more interactive audience. He would have to dig deep to sing with this audience. Hard gig! Great job though Dave x
Love, love, love this song! In a world of Lizzo, Beiber & Swift.. we need more David Gray.
This should have 100K likes. People need to see and hear this.
It's a powerful tribute to those who've lost their love but found them again.

I think I was there.......
What happened with you and your girl?
Yeah what happend. You can’t just say A and not B.
That's IT!! LIFE!!
Thankyou 😊 1:22 1:25
Oh wow, you saved me in 2001/2002 with this song, TY. I was 43 and had to finally say no more on a 27 yr marriage, bless you and I love you, TY!!
I hope your doing well now
"The love that I was giving you was never in doubt." Truer words have never been written in a song.

Very underrated artist that's for sure
My God, David Gray is so much better live than recorded. There aren’t many music artists who can say that. ❤
I agree. When Townes van Zandt was in the zone his. live stripped down stuff is so much better than what the producers made him do
@@elizabethheyenga9277 yep
I agree. Watched him in awe at on the white ladder tour first time around
Still a fantastic song 2024 !
As newlyweds, my wife introduced me to this song. Six years later, she left me. With some sadness still, she immediately comes to mind whenever I hear it.
. . . And , as if you didn’t know , it will always be that way … the connections have been … ‘connected’.
Be well .
See it thru brother
One of the best songs ever made even better sung live, thanks David.
Absolutely!!
Absolute UK classic! He’s incredible reminds me so much of the 2000s in England!
The last days of England I’m afraid. At least it lives in our hearts
This is the most sublime concert I have ever heard. I am so glad someone captured it for all to hear!
Fond memories of Zermatt from the early 70s! Never went there but remember many sweaty nights in London with the daughter of Zermatt’s station master! Oh sweet memories. What a girl; what nights and days.

He is always in tune; that is the best part well at least for me because i have perfect pitch
Jules B yeah Man U can really tell when you here sheeren do this years love the hear David do it it’s just a diff level
I liked your opinion until I read the coarse comment you made about Cowell.
Yes Simon Cowell would give his favoured left ball for David I’m sure. White Ladder is one of my top albums, a great Sunday drinking expensive fruity red with a dear friend, we hardly talk now but still great memories of a monumental Sunday made great by Mr Gray.
Check out poalo nutini if not familiar. You're welcome
The most beautiful song in the world. I'd give anything to see him in a setting like this.
I'm one of your Spotify top fans! But you got it wrong David, it's your passion that keeps it going. Watching you reminds me of how much passion I have. It saved my life when I was lost, and keeps reminding how much of love I have for music. I can find that love of life again. Thank you
One of the most beautiful songs ever written
What a great, generous perfomer. Bravo David.
This song makes reminiscing feel so nostalgic. Beautifully done.
Thank humanity for the voices in the audience that stood
Superb version, Dublin loves David Gray...
Two ladies dancing at the end are phenomenal..
After the fall of Babylon; people would say, babble on when you'd mention it. This song captures that essence. This guy does it right.
I dearly love David Gray, so glad I found this!
Me too
This is what unplugged means thank you xx
It's never in doubt, David's CD's are driving down the highway listening music.
On what must be one of the unhappiest Christmas Eves of my life this helped restore some balance and faith. Thank you David (and band too).
Next Christmas will be a good one for you mate. Stay positive man all the best from Perth Western Australia
@@guseva1 Thanks Gus. That helps too. And I think you'll be proved right.
This is lovely, beautiful, thank you David
Somehow this amazing song takes me back to the England that was. The England I’ll love forever. The England that’s gone now. 🏴
This man.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This song... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ !!!!!!
Dude was in his BAGGG when he made this, a masterpiece.
spot on
David gray. Hes all we need in music now.
I think the people not standing up are rude. This performance deserves a standing ovation from the entire audience in my opinion.
They're Swiss.
Yes, that’s what I thought until my husband explained how reserved the Swiss sometimes are. 3 cheers to the brave ins who did stand up. 😊
Love the huskiness in his voice, such a beautiful song.

Why hasnt this had millions of veiws? Beautiful, Brlliant ,
Three foul mouthed lads purged on the void of greatness. 😀
this guy is just
brilliant.
Can't argue with that comment. I have seen him live twice, great experience. Had tickets for this year's tour, but it's been postponed. See you in 2021 David.
Lockdown...and I have tears in my eyes, wonderful song
Thanks Jules B andJeff S for such great comments. I was lucky to be in his his first recorded concert at The Point in Dublin. This is favourite song of all time. Means so much to me in Australia.

. . . “ Yes, indeed … those sometimes unavoidable but transient ,
small hours “.
Friday night, I'm going nowhere
All the lights are changing green to red
Turning over TV stations
Situations running through my head
Looking back through time
You know it's clear that I've been blind, I've been a fool
To open up my heart to all that jealousy
That bitterness, that ridicule
Saturday, I'm running wild
And all the lights are changing red to green
Moving through the crowds I'm pushing
Chemicals are rushing in my bloodstream
Only wish that you were here
You know I'm seeing it so clear
I've been afraid
To show you how I really feel
Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made
And if you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon, Babylon
Sunday, all the lights of London shining
Sky is fading red to blue
Kicking through the autumn leaves
And wondering where it is you might be going to
Turning back for home
You know I'm feeling so alone
I can't believe
Climbing on the stair
I turn around to see you smiling there
In front of me
And if you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon, Babylon, Babylon, Babylon
Ah

Great singer songwriter. White Ladder is a classic album. Ed Sheeran and the like couldn't lace his boots
Fantastic song. 👌
Gratefull for good tunes!
Simply brilliant
superior song writer

Thank you for posting this song. 💜💙🙏
What song! Need to see him live again! Need a 2018 Tour!

So me 6:45 in the front row! Who could resist? Holy moly! This is good! I mean gooooood!
This song particularly the guitar and melody reminds me of a cross between the band America and the band Bread.
Before Ed Sheeran there was DAVID GRAY! One of my favourites!
well it's the way it is... love that song any question'?s
this is awesome thanks David!
Simply!! WoW❤🔥
