Originally like in the real history Francis and Mary didn’t get a long time together. So they had to show that sometime soon. The show had a lot of potential though. They could’ve literally come up with 2-3 seasons more, according to the real events that took place.
Why the historie ? He was a whole entire person marie was a sister for him they did not have love between them francis said that she helped him and he loved her like a SISTER he wasent the francis that was shown he couldnt even stand still in real life and propertly sit down and concentrate as a king he was always doing something with is fingers and never cared but he also was a good king and he wasent killed of he died of a middle ear infection (affect 4 )
I don't understand why Bothwell was portrayed as a good man in Reign...he was not at all...if anyone do a little research..they would would find what he did to Mary..how cruel he was.. Mary's sufferings and struggles were much more...there could be a whole extra season...but I understand the sudden snap in the last episode..the show was cancelled maybe because of the low viewership after Francis death.... Her true happiness died with Francis 😭💔
This is one of the best series I've seen actors did excellent job you really believed they were the person. They. We're protesting. Excellent series loved the actors no one else could have done better

It is a true Shakespearean tragedy, not only in the actual story but in what happened with this serial portrayal. Two star-crossed lovers whose countries play them like instruments of fate and fortune defy all odds and try to remain together only to have him taken from her too soon by natural causes. She seems to have truly loved him for the rest of her life, if you believe the poetry she wrote while imprisoned to be about Francis. Not as many couples have that kind of love, first love, lasting love, as we hope, and so we mourn with her as she loses it. Then, the show loses fans because they came to watch a love story rather than a historical drama, and the love that plays out afterwards is the political love that Mary and Francis families had at the beginning- a mocking facsimile of love that barely has the semblance let alone substance of true love. So, we end up where we began: countries aligning more swiftly than people. In between however, we saw a glimpse at true love, true happiness, and that is what draws us back- the love of Mary and Francis. Love is what we do best. Love is what makes life worthwhile. So, Mary's life, like the show, truly really ended with Francis.

It was a joy to see. Never seen anything like it. The way they saw each other and interacted 😏 and kissed was so natural. I know they weren’t a couple in real life but it sure felt like it. Amazing actors! When Francis died we all knew it was coming but never like that and so soon in the show. We all fell in love with him along with Mary. Had they prolonged his death the show would have lasted longer and not been cancelled. Plus I had the hugest crush on Francis 😂 so not seeing him anymore made the show just blah to me. I’m sure many viewers stopped watching due to his death as well. Anyways, this edit is one of the best I’ve seen so far. Amazing! Great job! ❤
The real King Francis sadly died when he was just 16 from an ear infection. Reign did a great job romanticizing the relationship between Queen Mary and King Francis. A brilliant performance by both Toby and Adelaide. Surprised they did not win more awards.

Also Francis and Mary’s story in real life was definitely nothing like the show. In the show there’s too much romance and drama that didn’t actually happen between the real Francis and Mary.
