Absolutely! When she sang "When You're Good to Mama" in the movie "Chicago", I jumped to my feet, applauded, & shouted Brava, Multi Brava. Everyone looked at me like I was nuts. I said, "did any of you know she could sing like that; that performance deserves a Standing O". PS- The projectionist had to stop & rewind the movie back by 10 min because that's how long all of us wound up standing, applauding, & cheering.
Queen Latifah's singing is so effortless. She was made to sing big band ballads. Her album Dana Owens is absolutely stunning. She can also belt out some mighty fine blues. I gave her a Standing O for her performance as Matron "Mama" Morton in "Chicago" after she sang "When You're Good to Mama". The whole theater thought I was crazy but I said, "Did any of you know she could sing like that; I certainly didn't? She deserves a Standing O." The whole theater got up & also gave her Standing O. The applause went on so long that the projectionist stopped the movie & rewound it to just after she finished singing. What a tremendous performance. She went on to play Bessie Smith, & did a stellar job. Queen Latifah is truly a multi-talented person.

A stunning performance. You gotta believe that Queen Latifah's mama is super proud that her daughter is singing side by side with the great Tony Bennett. How do these improbable dreams come about? Enormous talent and luck.
