Why is the refractive power of the outer layer of the fiber smaller? That means that light passes through inside the fiber in a slower velocity than outside it. Why cant it be inverted? For example Refractive power is smaller: n=3.10^8/8 Refractive power is bigger: n=3.10^8/4 Refractive power is bigger that means that light passes through that material slower. Why does it happen INSIDE the optical fiber? Thanks
Refractive index of outer layer must be lower to allow the total internal reflection to happen. The condition for Total internal reflection is that light should travel from denser to rarer medium.
Passive Cooling Application. Could fiber optics be used to create a passive radiant cooling system where the redirected light energy (IR) could be used to heat water or whatever else at a distance without losing a significant power?
Although It can be with normal as well as core cladding boundary. The difference will be in the critical angle. If it is wrt core cladding interface then critical angle will be inverse of cosine rather than inverse of sine. Yet the correction has been given in subtitles Thank you for mentioning
In that case light will bend towards the normal. Total internal reflection will takes place only when light travel from denser to rarer medium and angle of incidence is greater than critical angle

Superb....your explanation is too good👍
Respected sir Assmolknm lecture is informative but according to my weak approach towards physics, angle of incidence is subtended with normal

Sir can there is no effect that if the light enters air medium to silica ?
In that case light will bend towards the normal.
Total internal reflection will takes place only when light travel from denser to rarer medium and angle of incidence is greater than critical angle
Bhai theta 1 normal ke respect mein naapana tha.. BTW well done
Thank you for the feedback. Correction has been notified in the video
Thank you
