love this video. I'm 16 and through out my childhood I have taken countless trips out to McCall Idaho to visit my grandparents and every time I visit them I always have taken a tour of the Smoke jumpers base at the airport in McCall. This video gives me a happy memory of visiting my family and being in one of the prettiest places McCall!!! Lots of respect for all the smoke jumpers and hot shots that try to keep us and our wildlife safe.
Affirmative. You have to start somewhere - an MYL Smokejumper starts off as a NED. It's parallel with being a 'Boot" when I served in Marine Corps infantry (machinegunner).
I jumped out of McCall in 1973. It was a great way to wind down from Vietnam in 70-71. It was a blast! Great video!

McCall jumpers don't seem to be very liked among the jumping/repelling dudes 😂
Surprising to hear this. The McCall Base has more former rappellers than any other base.
