Ignore the haters. They are obviously not the target audience. Its also pretty silly to announce you are usubbing, grow up. You are a maverick and super important to the solo self belay community. Sharing your findings is super helpful. A cool company called bliss climbing tech makes a good widget to make a twistlock gate real thick 😜
@@jordanlewis3790 that makes 2 Jordans that have been really nice to me recently! Thanks! Yea these haters are actual fans of some kind. They commented so drive my stats up LOL. I was going to reply: “Still there?” 😜😜😜 I do my thing. Thanks for plugging BCT they make good stuff!
Sorry if you don't like this video. My story behind it is I tested 68 carabiners and NONE has close to the compatibility of the DMM Ultra O DuroLock. That includes many steel options, and many ANSI also. If you are looking for ONE carabiner that is compatible with the most devices, this is it: the DMM Ultra O DuroLock. It is compatible with 92% of the 43 devices I tested it with. Now, I wish DMM would make this exact carabiner as a triple action or a twist lock! Their DMM Ultra O SafeLock is the second most compatible with 80% of the 43 devices. Next is the Petzl Oxan ANSI with 78%. I will make a video with all these results! If people are still interested in my content 😉 . I encourage you find a carabiner that works for you without any modification. That is the ideal world! If I find something dangerous people do in rock climbing (I mean like thinking an Edelrid Pinch can work hands-free on a 6mm rope), I will tell you! Have a great day everyone! ERRATUM: I found a way the DMM Ultra O DuroLock can be VERY BADLY loaded with the Grigri 1. NOT 12kN because there can be wierd loading!! In the end we each choose for our own what we should do or should not do. I think my modified DMM Ultra O DuroLock is maybe safer than the Edelrid Kiwi SlideLock. What do you think?
@@hugotripp Yea I never rely 100% on the Kiwi Slide lock, always have a backup connection somewhere in the system... Ah well: we can't have it all (light, compatible, bombproof, etc.). I still use and love the Kiwi Slide lock for some uses!
I wish DMM did a Ultra O ANSI! DMM does the American O ANSI is a bigger carabiner than the Ultra O. Creating the perfect carabiner is a balancing act as there are 3 cons to the American O ANSI when compared to the Ultra O DuroLock: 1- the thick gate is a bit too narrow at the base so it jams in a couple of devices; 2- The spine is too thick and some devices jam in dangerous ways 3- The location for the Captive Bar on the spine is even thicker and create potential problems with the grigri family. All in all, the Ultra O DuroLock is compatible with 92% of my devices (minimum 12kN, good loading) where the American O ANSI is compatible with 67% of my devices (minimum 16kN, good loading) .

You are just posting to instigate a response. This "mod" just makes it equivalent to a twist locking carabiner that we have all used in the gym countless times. Doesn't mean it is now unsafe lol.
This channel is obviously not aimed at beginers. If you can't figure out yourself what's safe and what's not in what Yann is showing then you definitely souldn't have been a follower in the first place.
Hey Yann. Don't worry. People who know what you're about understand where youre coming from. I still love you and the ENORMOUS amount youve done to improve safety.
Also unsubscribed. I wish you well, but all your recent content is on how to modify kit to use not as the manufacturer intended. Thats fine for those that want to, but not something i have any need for or want to see

Everything is safer than Edelrid Kiwi Slide lock 😬

@@YannCamusBlissClimbing I see the kiwi as nonlocker plus 😅
@@hugotripp +1 . It is kind of an in-between indeed! I wonder how many use it as a "full locker". I would not recommend that.
@@YannCamusBlissClimbing same as Rock Exotica BiWire. Double nonlocker with annoying nose 😅
Just get a ANSI Locksafe Ultra O if you want this. I understand working with what you've got but this is a bit crude.

It is a horrible practice, especially online, posting how to bypass safety features on any life saving piece of equipment. Definitely unfollowing.

It's still a auto locking biner. No one needs a quad lock. You're off base.
