I’m learning here so I can’t suggest a motor but I know it’s gonna be badass if earl builds it. I saw a vid somewhere where they’re making a massive new motor. I think it may be sensored as well. It might have been a hobbywing but I’m not sure. I’ll have to do some research because I’ll definitely be building a limitless in the future. I have the best road for a speed run about 15 min away. Got my cbr 600 up to 152 mph out there once 😄 killer video as usual 👍👍
The liability is a great question. Never thought of it that way . Wonder what the fine print says? I have no experience with any speed run setups, so I can't recommend nor give an opinion. I'm sure there are a few of us learning from you on the subject. Once again , great job on the videos. It's great all you do for the community 😉. Awesome review. Yeah the battery trays kinda got me. They could have kept like another 1/2 in and moved the mount up half an inch and still be able to fit a 1721 length motor. 2028 is nice to barely fit in but it's a lot of motor to compromise battery trays for.

Poseidon PRO P1527-PV22 1500kv - 40mm x 106mm That's what my dream build would be paired with an XLX2. I think they went with a bigger gear to keep temps down when paired with a smaller spur. Coke can would be great. Color concrete grey.
The spur is bigger because the v2 uses different difs with a different final drive ratio, I assume. Arrma customer support told me the v2 battery trays were same size as the v1, I lol'd.
Big spur is probably down to the 2.8 internal drive ratio. It seems that the smallest pinion you can use with it is a 32 🤔 Definitely comes set up for big speed gearing! Motor wise - I'm thinking something 5th scale (56 series) but that's gonna need the optional motor plate. Something like 1100kv for 8s

Problem with speed runs and hobby wing is the voltage drop cut off in the esc no way to disable it fully and the rc will cut off in the middle of the run every pass as the lipo battery will sag past the 3.6V a cell and the esc just shut off as it thinks it’s low voltage cut Safty to protect draining battery and also I can’t watch data that I need to look at like ripple so since there no other choice castle is it for speed runs
The battery trays are plenty big enough for speed running but I would agree they are to small for bashing. My Onyx speed run batteries are 6500mah and sag way less than my 9500mah Cnhl 4s lipo’s.
I'm not really a speed guy but I think they would change it for the better. As battery technology gets better you should be able to get great power out of a smaller pack. Maybe a little less weight in batteries will boost the speed? I'm not sure with the bigger spur gear though, does the motor mount give you enough room to run a taller pinion? This is why I watch this channel. Learning as I go. 🤣 Great info Earl! 💯💯😉
Hmmm that battery tray really makes me wish I got the v1 now. I don't know enough about motors etc to comment. As for the color I would like a nice blue or purple myself. My goal with a limitless would only be 100MPH since I would mostly be street bashing anyway and on poorly maintained New England roads which rc guy would know what I am talking about 😆
Earl I do have a question. I just got a XLX2. This is the first one I have ever owned. I went through and watched it some videos of people using them and something strange that I see in a lot of the videos. (Maybe I’m missing it) But I don’t see people running cap packs With these ESC’s. And I don’t see the capacitors that normally come on these types of ESC’s. That’s why I don’t understand why they’re not running aftermarket cap pack. What’s your thoughts on this
The xlx2 was a redesign of the xlx that had cap pack issue and voltage issues when turned up they would catch on fire and blow the caps so on the xlx2 they set it up so it won’t drop ripple voltage so it’s doesn’t need caps but in that said if you run any motor that’s over 1900 kv it voids the warranty on the esc also if you run the wrong winding on the motor (Y or D winding) then castle says it will catch fire 🔥 and no warranty but then they make a speed motor 2400 kv for it and say use it at your own risk ⚠️ really confusing but no caps needed 👍

Do arrma diffs break a lot? Seems they could have worded that better, but it does make sense for kit versions that they'd need some kind of disclaimer in case someone just totally gets the mesh wrong and strips is or burns it up. But for "RTR" or rollers you'd think the company would take responsibility for assembling it correctly.
Yes I agree the reason a lot of ppl buy rtr and roller rc is to have a professional company build there rc cars that’s how traxxas became so popular and changed the hobby grade rc game 👍👍
I just finished a v2 build, and I got the fastest futaba servo I could get, I feel like that's a must on an on road car like this, you need to be able to counter steer as quick as possible on a car like this
We always turn the dual rate Dow to nothing on a speed run or you’ll loose control so slow movement is all you need or the cars not setup well to go straight only on a road course quick steering is needed ⚠️
I'd rather have a painted body but it makes sense for arrma to put a unpainted body in with it because it's partly a kit anyway. CASTLE XLX2 Esc, motor CASTLE 1650 would be ok with me. Let me know when it's done and I'll give you my address 😉 @

For my 8s Gt cars and the high speed diffs I run 41t spur on shorter roads and 39t on longer. I am in love with the high kv Tp 40 can motors.
