I bought one of these a while back for $90, use it a lot. I take it with me when I go game shopping to test Genesis games, it works really well. Pretty good compatability. I replaced the battery with a higher mAh one. Lasts quite a while. Anyway, it meets my needs.
That's a super specific use case innit
The TCT-6803 chip is indeed the main (well known MDClone) chip. (but they did not apply the mod for Virtua games)
The RPFF429.00 chip (i could not find info on this one) is likely a RGB to HDMI/LCD/Composite chip (going on the pcb traces)
The sub-board with the blob is a receiver for wireless controllers (likely works with wireless controllers from the chines one)
The solder pads below the game cart port are for a ROM chip for build in games.
The Chinese version uses the same chips (or the TCT-6801 which doesn't support virtua and 8bit carts)
if it's also the TCT-6803 they also did not apply the 6803 Virtua modification. and the rom chip is interfering with the multi cart/everdrive.
side note on that video: you did not try the 4:3 button and show the other side of the pcb.
To me this Japenese version is a waste of mony (even more so, than the chinese version)
It's a shame they did not apply the virtua mod (less than $ 0.01) for this price
As far as I know, the TCT6801 also has a modification that allows you to play virtua racing. The TCT6803 has issues with shadows and highlights in games. I have a rm based clone TCT6801. From what I remember it can play SMS games with an adapter (those that don't need a BIOS on the console)
Apparently this screen is locked in 30FPS for some reason. Also, the audio could be fixed by changing the resistor values.
The audio is inherent to the TCT-680x series of MDclone chips (and can not be fixed to my knowledge)
The 30 FPS lock is not. this is likely due the usage of the RPFF429.00 RGB to HDMI/LCD/Composite chip.
Finally they got the button layout right for a SEGA based device, I just wish the quality of the D-pad and buttons along with a better speaker was implemented on the handheld itself. I hope they don't give up on this form factor and the next rendition will be improved. How does this compare to the "Columbus Circle CC-16PMP-BL" in quality?
Package from Japan, made in China. Nevertheless, the build quality is on par with cheap Chinese knock-offs.
I used to have a Sega Nomad, loved it so much and was so sad when it broke.
It's not weird you had to restart it several times seeing as though that cartridge says Streets of Rage 2 but, has Ken and Ryu on it. I would have tried actual cartridges to see if it was the device itself causing them not to start. Bootleg carts in a bootleg device could be the issue.
That doesn't look like a Japan product, definitely looks like a Chinese thing marketed to Japan.
It looks super cheap
I was thinking the same thing, it looks like cheap ABS plastic not really something that would be made in Japan. It's a hard pass.
yep the same chips used and similar hosing of the Chinese version give it away.
Right
could be blastem emulation maybe. Not bad, not perfect either
Somebody was watching many videos 😁
@@WickedGamerCollector yes, i had some time being sick at home
It's not emulation, it's a real chip with an entire Mega Drive inside.
@@arthurcarneirolopes6383 in that case it's astonishing that there are quite a few issues
@@zockeromi1970 well it's a clone chip of the mega-drive. and the TCT-680x series are know for issues. (mainly audio) This is also the series that gave ATgames a bad reputation for using them in many of there clone systems...
Pal games do work on this but, only those that aren't software regionlocked by the developers themselfs.
Hey wicked will you check out windows tablet PCs from China?
Windows tablets... did review android ones.
@@WickedGamerCollector yup they have Windows 10 tablets and there are no reviews of them with gameplay performance on TH-cam
I know this is cloned hardware, but i would probably choose the Anbernic Arc at this point. At least the sound will be good!
Thought you did one like this not long ago
I bought 2... one from china and this one from japan.
They use the same shell.
@@WickedGamerCollector so they work pretty much the same?
@@WickedGamerCollector and the same Chips to (the Chines version just has them sanded off) and includes a Rom chip (causing the multi cart and everdrive not to work)
Does it play paprium?
that is the same device like tha las one, even the PCB :D
Thank you for the Video.
Where can I get it and how much does it cost? That’s all I want to know.
Evil-bay for around 150usd
@@WickedGamerCollector Is there a Website for this?
Package From Japan 🎉
I still have my original Nomad it works but the battery doesnt charge anymore
i wish these has 4:3 screens
so its Sega switch?
Where's the link to buy this
Cool video. Machine from Columbus Circle : 68€ on Amazon Japan (+20 shipping) :)
Yeah totally overpaid for this.
Would be awesome if you had Paprium cart, but god dammit its soooo expensive, like really expensive sadly 😢
I have, never going to sell it
It's OK
👍👍™️
I would think none of these work with 32X as the 32X has extra hardware, that these don't have
No they don't and the TCT-6803 chip used doesn't even support a sega cd or 32X adapter. (and only has limited support for 8 bit games)
Wish you would stop the click baiting with "Plays everything?" It's tiresome, makes me want to unsubscribe.
Thanks for the spoiler
He changed the title lol
Still doesn’t play virtual racer
@@DisasterMaster3K had the creators done the very cheap (less then $ 0.01) TCT-6803 Virtua mod it would have worked.
Agree
Ugh. Those face buttons gotta go.
