Was my professor in college. Took "Advanced Running" that he taught and didn't know what I was getting myself into. The "final" for the class was running a marathon. He wouldn't approve of a road marathon so ran a 50k my junior year. Been a runner ever since! Great experience! Awesome man, glorifies the Lord, and positively influences people.

The BIGGEST lie you can tell yourself is that you're too old for anything. Don't buy into that. Never slow down. Keep pushing for more.

I know David from running his Mountain Masochist 50 miler, 3 times(90,91,92 placing 2nd,3rd,4th). He was the race director. His AT FTK(1991) was an incredible feat that started it all. Congratulations on the movie. BTW, this is Dan Landry from Florida.

Great video! I briefly met Horton on the AT in 2004. He was doing trail maintenance and offered me a soda from his cooler. He had a tremendous amount of energy, humor, and good will for humanity. This was a joy to watch. Congrats David! I also met Brian Robinson on that same hike. He was hiking with Silver Girl. He was a confident and accomplished hiker having already completed his calendar triple crown. Clearly a good guy based on this video. Good stuff!

I’m watching this on the eve of my ‘Virtual Marathon’ attempt. My planned marathon was to have been in Paris a week ago and as we all know races have been cancelled all over the world. I live nearby the PCT terminus in British Columbia and have been lucky enough to section hike parts of the trail in Washington State.
I just wanted to say thank you for making such an inspirational running movie. The team effort it took to set the record is something we can all draw strength from right now.

My dad has the same name, and when I saw this David Horton listed as a Barkley finisher I was confused for a sec that maybe my dad had another life I’d never known about! Different guy, but I’ve always enjoyed running and my sister too, so maybe we are distantly related :-)

Scott McCooper (Crew): I got up that morning when they took off at 4:30, drove 5 hours and got food and started running down towards Stahekan from rainy pass.
David: Just by the lord’s intervention he heard me holler, he met us and gave us food.
Scott is sitting there like.....Ummmm nope that was all me:)

The man is an unstoppable force, he, and I might say he alone, created a lasting culture of endurance trail running here in my hometown with the Mountain Masochist Trail Race 50(+) miles , Promise Land 50k, Terrapin Mountain Marathon and other races.
I ran them all and really appreciated David's enthusiasm and creativity.
If you work hard in his races and train with him, he will give back to you encouragement and love

OK, in the first 30 seconds or so of running, none of them seems to be carrying hydration. I thought, WHAT? Then, an edit later, same terrain, they all have bottles. That makes me think that a guy running from Mexico to Canada, actually re-ran a few hundred yards to "get the shot." Am I wrong? As dangerous as the Evolution Creek crossing looked, had they fallen, the far bank was low and accessible and they could have reached it with any kind of swimming ability. Also should have waited until morning, when the melt would have stopped for the night and the water lower. Having said that, great video.

(Link to our first round up: th-cam.com/video/RaKAZqIS9HM/w-d-xo.html) We really enjoyed this film and would potentially love to feature it in our video. Would it be ok for us to use some footage from this film? We would just use short clips (up to 30 seconds) from the film and would link to the film in the description box.
