Still want my Simpsons Histories about the bullies, specifically Dolf (as he's the least developed of the trio). From Kearney having lived through the 70s with Otto to Jimbo being a bald coward with an on/off relationship with Chalmers' daughter, I want to dig through the layers of Springfield Elementary's baddest.
I love Snake. He's always been one of my favorites. Honestly I thought his full name was Snake Plisskin, I don't know where I came up with that. I must have thought he was a reference to Escape From New York. (Also you do all three of the bullies in one video. The Jimbo, Kearney and Dolf special)
A great analysis of one of my favorite minor characters. Maybe current Snake doesn't have the genuine threat that he did in earlier seasons, but he's usually the best part of any given scene he has a speaking role in. Also, disregarding later archaeological backstories, I always figured Snake had that "like, totally disarming valley-boy accent" because he drifted in from the West coast (presumably after drifting in from the EAST coast after his Middlebury/Harvard years) who just kinda ended up in Springfield and stuck with it as a hunting ground thanks to its poorly-defended convenience stores and inept law enforcement.
This was an excellent video! My favorite Snake moment will always be in Pin Pals when he’s on the police team. But then he just runs away as soon as they release him to bowl.
I seriously think that there should be a Simpsons Histories on Maggie Simpson. Much as I adore TheRealJims season restrospectives, Maggie is nearly always absent from the analysis. She's gone through so much over the years, including an attempted murder and her own spin-off short film amongst other things, but she is always tragically overshadowed by her vocal elders.
When I was a little kid I honestly thought Snake was Nelson's dad. This was WAAAAY before episodes like Lisa's Date With Density. Also, you're saving Kearney for something good, aren't ya? I can feel it.
You gotta admit it certainly is wild, to think about the fact that Snake has been in the Electric Chair about 6 or 7 times by now, but has only actually died once and that was in a Halloween episode, so it doesn’t count. Snake seems to have a knack for surviving near to death experiences! He’s like a cat with Nine Lives! Also Snake and Wiggum have so many fun moments. I think they’ve helped make each other more popular over the years.
Yay, finally a Snake Histories! Thank you for this. Also as a general note all of these character histories are fascinating looks into how various eras reached further and further for characters to fill in the plots without just making a thousand one-off designs like the newer seasons seem to finally be doing a lot more of. (Though i might be biased in that analysis, old simpsons still did that plenty)
Maybe an episode on Cletus? Curious if he ever had his own moments to shine besides sacrificing himself to (almost) save all of Springfield in the movie.
It seems like the artists constantly forget which ear is pierced for Snake. It looks like it should only be his right ear, but you can find shots where his left ear is also pierced, but most of the time it isn't.
Because of the treasure hunter backstory where he declares himself as "Snake Jailbird", I thought that *was* his full real name, so I have to wonder about his aliases.
Please do Eddie and Lou as a duo for a Simpsons History! I feel like Eddie is really underdeveloped and I'd like to see what you can dig up about him, but you can't have one without the other!
I agree, I would also like that someday they would make a video about these little-known Persians, Eddie was once my favorite characters, although he is still interesting to me, I have doubts that he is a good person, I know the fact that he likes to beat people with a club, I don't think he's that smart, I don’t think he’s so smart and good, unlike Lou, Lou is really smart, with a good memory this fact was shown in one episode when he arrested Mr. Burns for stealing the painting 30 years ago, and Lou learned the painting thanks to him Burns got arrested, I also feel that he is a good character, even a little vulnerable when Wiggum yelled at him and even insulted him, Lou took offense at him.
Anything Snake says is golden, but my favorite line is in response to Apu questioning "where's a gun-toting low-life when you need one?" Snake: "Sorry, I was in the can." As for future videos, I think it's time we get Up And At Them with Rainier Wolfcastle.
Snake has the best looking car in the Simpsons. Hes just a character you want to hang out with even if hes a criminal. Hank Azaria just brings something to Snake that keeps you intrigued and honestly on his side. I would love to see Sideshow Mel get his limelight since he seems like a tragic character being cast as a sideshow when he could be a respected actor
Definitely one of my very favorite characters in the show, there's just something compelling about how different his roles are compared to other characters - like you said.
I am overjoyed you are still making content! Snake is an under utilized character who really does deliver whenever he is on camera. (Apu) "Where's a gun totting low life when you need one"? (Snake) "I'm sorry I was in the can".
I preferred when Lil Bandit was a Dodge Charger. I’m certain it was a nod to the General Lee, due to how much Lil Bandit ran from the cops. Even Radical seemed to think so, considering it has a Dixie horn in Road Rage. The Pontiac Gto is suppose it more legally distinct, but idk, it lost a lot of its luster.
Snake has to be the 9th character who the writers love having subversions in showing off how cultured this thuggish character actually is. They did the same for Barney, by showing his artistic & intelligent side. Its a great joke but it is being used on way too many characters. I half expect Otto to suddenly start quoting Shakespeare classic quotes.
Okay, hear me out : > The Seemingly Never-Ending Story partially takes place before the show's beginning (before Krapabel becomes a teacher) > Moe steals Snake's archeological findings > Burns reads about it in a letter, and steals it from Moe > Fast-forward to season 6 > Burns is the most hated person in town. Everyone wants to kill him > It's established Snake likes robbing people during town hall meetings > It's established Snake enjoys acts of random violence I'm going somewhere with this. This was facts, now, let's theorize : > Is Snake shown in the crowd in Who Shot Mr Burns' town hall meeting ? If not, he could be in the parking lot, taking advantage of everybody being upset at Burns to mercilessly steal things from everyone's cars. > Snake hears a voice. He hides. Burns starts talking to a baby. Snake spies on them for a while. He then realizes Burns is gonna steal candy from Maggie. > Snake realizes that if he attacks Burns right then and now, due to the circumstances, he won't even be in the top 10 suspects list. > He walks towards Burns. Think of the vibe of that Smithers ending shown in the Simpsons Spectacular. He reaches for the dangling, obvious gun in Burns' holder, and shoots the old man. He laughs to himself, and throws the thing in the Simpsons' car before running away. > He later finds out Burns is only comatose, and anticipates being shoved back in jail. He doesn't sweat it. I mean, he wouldn't be a jailbird if not for a jail ! > Burns wakes up. After the initial shock and repeating Homer's name over and over again phase, he remembers that Snake shot him, and recognizes him as that archeology prof he DID stole from, in a second-handed way. Just as would be the case if Abe did it, he fears that identifying Snake would lead to Snake revealing that Burns illegaly owns/used a chestful of ill-gained historical treasure. Now, Burns only GUESSES that Snake shot him because of all that stuff about a treasure. Snake probably has yet to find out about all of that Who REALLY shot Mr Burns? Part Seven !!!! Aka the REALLY shot Mr Burns Spectacular !!! Wherein Burns spits out a silly story about a baby gunning him down, as a way to spare a man who confusedly can not possibly know till much later why the old man accuses 2 different people when he knows it was him !!!
Plus as shown Snake is skilled with firearms, mainly Shotguns, Pistols, and Revolvers, and you know what Mr Burns was shot with, a .38 Special, which is the poor man's Dirty Harry.
I remember when I would watch the Simpsons as a kid, I had a running personal theory that Snake was Nelson’s father. I saw clues in their appearances, their hard-bad-guy-with-silly-soft-spots characterizations, and the fact that Nelson’s dad was never around and Snake was always in jail-of course that turned out not to be the case, but it still crosses my mind every now and then when nostalgia strikes.

I would love to see a Disco Stu Simpsons Histories.
Back away, not today- disco lady!
Just leaving a search boosting comment. Love this channel.
"Oh no! Bette Midler!"
Legit forgot how many good moments this guy has
No bette is better than bette
Well this is one I've been waiting for a while, this should be fun!
Me too!
I love how Snake says "whoa... radical!" when the Radical Games logo pops up in The Simpsons: Hit and Run.
The delivery of ‘use a pen sideshow bob’ gets me every time
This was an excellent video!
Be a good reason to talk about that ep where she might be smarter than Lisa which is definitely one of the better ones from the mid-teens region.
When I was a little kid I honestly thought Snake was Nelson's dad. This was WAAAAY before episodes like Lisa's Date With Density. Also, you're saving Kearney for something good, aren't ya? I can feel it.
Great character to do a Simpsons histories on! Looking forward to more retrospectives too!
The Jailbird "Byye!" is one of the worn out buttons on my mental soundboard
Shy Jeremy wanting to play video games with Bart was so adorable
You gotta admit it certainly is wild, to think about the fact that Snake has been in the Electric Chair about 6 or 7 times by now, but has only actually died once and that was in a Halloween episode, so it doesn’t count. Snake seems to have a knack for surviving near to death experiences! He’s like a cat with Nine Lives! Also Snake and Wiggum have so many fun moments. I think they’ve helped make each other more popular over the years.
Didn't even know snake had a last name. Thought he had 1 name like Cher
A flashback episode with Otto and Snake as Springfield elementary students would be great
You haven't done Frink yet, he's got quite the story.
Yay, finally a Snake Histories! Thank you for this.
Also as a general note all of these character histories are fascinating looks into how various eras reached further and further for characters to fill in the plots without just making a thousand one-off designs like the newer seasons seem to finally be doing a lot more of. (Though i might be biased in that analysis, old simpsons still did that plenty)
funny how the aspect of Snake as a "Indiana Jones Type expert" also is mentioned in the episode who parodied the Da Vinci Code
We're closer and closer to my dreamed Kearny episode. A guy who can introduce his son while using the school bus that needs a fake license to drink.
As a teenager and as the father of a teenager, I concur
"I sleep in a drawer"
"Screw the honors system, my car needs me!"
"Hey you're ruining it for the rest of us!"
Every time I hear a new description for Snake, I can't help but picture Ricky from Trailer Park Boys
I always thought one day it would come out that snakes Nelson’s runaway father
Because of the treasure hunter backstory where he declares himself as "Snake Jailbird", I thought that *was* his full real name, so I have to wonder about his aliases.
Simpsons Histories: Shelbyville
Simpsons Mysteries: Who moved the gun Maggie shot Mr. Burns with from the station wagon to Homer's car?
I’m surprised and a little impressed that you didn’t make a sneed episode during that memes lifespan
I've been robbed now I'll embark on a life of crime and who would be the wiser coming from Professor Jailbird Snake.
There's an episode where he purposely tied up Apu with specific rope that's softer on the skin
Anything Snake says is golden, but my favorite line is in response to Apu questioning "where's a gun-toting low-life when you need one?" Snake: "Sorry, I was in the can."
As for future videos, I think it's time we get Up And At Them with Rainier Wolfcastle.
This didn't show up in my subscriptions at all until just today despite me watching every video you've put out
I just realized Hell Toupée is a play on the phrase "hell to pay"
Definitely one of my very favorite characters in the show, there's just something compelling about how different his roles are compared to other characters - like you said.
"Use a pen, Sideshow Bob."
This video is premium, dude! PREMIUM!
"Oh no! Beta!"
I am overjoyed you are still making content! Snake is an under utilized character who really does deliver whenever he is on camera. (Apu) "Where's a gun totting low life when you need one"? (Snake) "I'm sorry I was in the can".
TBH in Reality bites its kind of touching how much Snake loves his car.
I hope we can expect a Simpsons Histories on Inanimate Carbon Rod some time soon
Oh. They were just about to show some close ups of the rod.
I wonder if TheRealJims actually got to SEE the rod
I still can't tell the difference between Inanimate Carbon Rod and Inanimate Carbon Todd
My favorite snake moment has gotta be “they were beating out my chest fire” also I am once again requesting Dave and Marty the DJs for next time
Snake has to be the 9th character who the writers love having subversions in showing off how cultured this thuggish character actually is. They did the same for Barney, by showing his artistic & intelligent side. Its a great joke but it is being used on way too many characters. I half expect Otto to suddenly start quoting Shakespeare classic quotes.
Okay, hear me out :
> The Seemingly Never-Ending Story partially takes place before the show's beginning (before Krapabel becomes a teacher)
> Moe steals Snake's archeological findings
> Burns reads about it in a letter, and steals it from Moe
> Fast-forward to season 6
> Burns is the most hated person in town. Everyone wants to kill him
> It's established Snake likes robbing people during town hall meetings
> It's established Snake enjoys acts of random violence
I'm going somewhere with this. This was facts, now, let's theorize :
> Is Snake shown in the crowd in Who Shot Mr Burns' town hall meeting ?
Snake probably has yet to find out about all of that
Who REALLY shot Mr Burns? Part Seven !!!! Aka the REALLY shot Mr Burns Spectacular !!! Wherein Burns spits out a silly story about a baby gunning him down, as a way to spare a man who confusedly can not possibly know till much later why the old man accuses 2 different people when he knows it was him !!!
Plus as shown Snake is skilled with firearms, mainly Shotguns, Pistols, and Revolvers, and you know what Mr Burns was shot with, a .38 Special, which is the poor man's Dirty Harry.
Correction: Snake throws the rock at Wiggum "right after this song." Other than that, perfect.
Your Simpson History videos are always some of my favorites. I would love to see a history of Principle Skinner or Kent Brockmen.
Snake is the mascot for TH-cam Premium
"Snake, if you want to rob the Kwik-E-Mart, push the select button-"
I’m gonna throw a nomination for reverend Lovejoy because why not
I remember when I would watch the Simpsons as a kid, I had a running personal theory that Snake was Nelson’s father. I saw clues in their appearances, their hard-bad-guy-with-silly-soft-spots characterizations, and the fact that Nelson’s dad was never around and Snake was always in jail-of course that turned out not to be the case, but it still crosses my mind every now and then when nostalgia strikes.
