Oh I am SO happy you got to play with these! They're amazing, thank you for putting all my favorite budget brands in color order!! I appreciate it so much! I love these pencils. I'm an oil based girl at heart and I find these pencils so nice to work with. The pastel color selection puts the Castle Arts Pasteltints to SHAME. These are very clearly a shameless ripoff of Holbeins but I don't care because I will never shell out for Holbeins. These work beautifully for me. I have beautiful pastel watercolor paints from White Nights and I recently did a GORGEOUS piece with those paints, some handmade metallic watercolors and these pencils and I just love the way it came out. I think you will love using these. Especially knowing how much you love the squares. I can't wait to see some beautiful art you create with these!
Lindsey the Frugalcrafter did a review on these several months ago and I purchased them from the store she got them from. I got them in 2+ weeks. Wrapped well. They are lovely colors matching the Holbeins. They are creamy and soft but not quite as soft as Holbein but I am adding them to my Prismas for more colors.
One reason I love having your full-color swatched charts is so if I don’t have that same set, I can compare the set(s) I do have to the chart. It helps me match colors for color-alongs, and comparing my pencil sets gives me more confidence in finding combinations. I don’t have either of these sets yet, but the Castle Arts 48 pastels is next on my list, and the Brutfuners are next. I have several Brutfuner sets already, (180 watercolors, 520 pencils, 120 square pencils), and I have the Castle Arts 120 soft touch pencils. I also have Crayola 120, Pastelowe 50, and Prismacolor 150. I am trying to round out the sets I have before getting new sets like all of the Black Widow sets. It’s taking a long time for me to add to my collection; but the wait is sooo worth it! Thank you so much for helping me grow as a colorist!
Hello Pamela, thank you for this video. I was on the fence about getting these pencils as I have the Arteza 50 set pastels but, I watched this video and I fell in love with them and just had to have them!! I was lucky enough to get the ones in the case and it's actually a VERY nice case and I don't normally leave them in the cases that they come in but this one is so nice I am going to leave them in there. These are some beautiful pastel pencils, and they work so very well! When I swatched them with your video and put them in color family order I was so amazed at how well they performed. I was very impressed with the amount of pigment that layed down on the paper and the vibrancy of all the different colors. I agree with you that they are soft but not soft soft. I did think that there was more oil in these pencils as well. The only difference I really noticed with my set and your set is that some of the names are different. For example, I don't have an apricot, cream, Naples yellow in my set. I do have Jaune Brilliant which to me looks like a darker cream color, a beige and a color called cork. So those are some differences that I noticed between the set that has come in the case and the set that came in the box. All in all, I love these pencils they are beautifully made and are quite sturdy feeling. I felt like they blended together very nicely. They were kind of like butter to me, and the layers were amazing, and you couldn't really see where the colors were blended together. I did get one led that broke it was one of the darker purple ones. I also had a couple that looked like the barrel had gotten bent, but it was only like 3 pencils, and they still work just fine. I just got the Kalour blender pencil and I am going to give it a go and see how well they work. I love your review of them all and the way that you put them together in color family order. Thank you for this video and for everything that you do! You are really appreciated!!

I meant to buy these at Ali Express but bought the brutfuner bright and pastel 80 count and I'm so glad I did. I already have the holbein pastel anyway. But this set I am so happy with. It has such beautiful colors including several neon colors, about 9 But also has some of the pastels. It may have all of them not sure. There are no names only numbers though. It also has colors that I did not see in the 520. This is my 5th set of brutfuner and I gotta say i love them all.

I love these so much I got another set 😍 They were difficult to sharpen and broke a lot but the way they color is just magical and pastel colors are so pretty ✨

I think the blending with a Prismacolor in the blend test of new sets is very valuable as so many seem to love Prismas. 👍 If a set plays well with the gold standard, it informs colorists that this set can give you more colors for your Prisma color pages. 🌟 They seem so lovely! 💖
Best 17 bucks Iv’e spent in awhile. Mine took about a month, happy to have them. I tried them out on the Johanna Badsford paper, and they blend so well. Thank you for the video!

You didn’t mention that these are dupes to Holbeins. Look at them together the pencils colors match and they used the same numbering but added a 1 and the barrels look similar.
I just got them yesterday I can't believe the quality for the price £13 UK I was so impressed I went straight back on Amazon and managed to find the 50 set in a very decent zip case for £12 😮 they're amazing i combined them with my luminance in a portrait for a friend and couldn't believe it!!! they may not have the light fast rating of the luminance but I actually preferred using them and at £0.22 per pencil as opposed to £2.80 who cares 💁♂️

I bought the Brutfuner set of 80 pastel pencils. I really like them. I just saw that the next video to come up is a comparison between the Brutfuner and the Holbein pastel pencils. Truthfully, I don’t see much of a difference between them. I love them both.
Hi, someone probably already mentioned this but just in case - the color names and the last 3 digits of the color number are identical to Holbein pencils. There are some misspelled names on the Brutfuners, so refer to the Holbein names for the correct spelling. Olive Green is the correct name for this pencil - not Olivr Green.
I’m just trying to go through all the sets and trying to find duplicate and unique colours across the sets…I’m scratching my head a lot 🤣🤣There are nearly 1000 pencils in the whole BF ranges and have only done the pastel yellows across the whole lot…Ty for helping…even if you didn’t realise you were…🥰🥰
I have these pencils and I just love them! I have all my pastel sets in one case and it's such a pretty, cheerful collection to look at. I too love the colored barrels. Oh by the way, I wonder if "Olire" yellow isn't a typo like "Lce" Green. I think it is pretty much an olive yellow.
It could be. That was very strange. I am going to ask around to see if someone else who has these pencils can see what those two colors say on their set. I am pretty sure the "Lce" is supposed to be "Ice". It makes the most sense.
Hi Pam, I bought the 80 set which came with a pencil extender for only a few dollars more. They don't say Macaron just 80 oily pastels. I figured they were more cost effective. I can't say I've colored with them, just ooohed & aaahed when I swatched them. Perhaps in the future(if you decide to but them) a color comparison? Just asking!
I would really love to see the comparison video! I am between these two and the Astra Pastelowe ones, since I want a pastel set and can't afford the famous expensive ones!

I just bought these a few days ago, and I got them in the mail yesterday. They’ve either changed the name and number to a few of them or they’ve completely changed the pencil. Either way, several of my pencils and numbers don’t match yours.
I have purchased these but are yet to use them but they were soooooo gorgeous I just HAD to get them! Would love to see a comparison to the Castle Arts pastel pencils as I've had my eyes on them for a little while now but not sure if they are worth getting as well. Great video, thanks again ! ❤
Aren't they just absolutely beautiful? "Classy" looking pencils is the only word I can think of to describe them. They definitely don't look like $14 pencils. I have already filmed the comparison video so it's coming soon. Have a great day!

I am not sure about the color comparisons as I don't have that set. I am sure, with 520 pencils though, that there will be colors that are very similar.
If I am mistaken forgive me, but aren't these the ones that have the same colors and names as the Holbein 50 pastel pencils? The lightfast rating is identical to what is placed on the Holbein set. I saw another channel go over this comparing the two sets side by side. I am pretty sure it was this set.
Yes. Apparently they’re a dupe for the Holbein pastels. But, lots of misspellings on the names or mistakes. That I can live with because I don’t have the Holbein pastels. I’m very happy with these.
These aren’t available on Amazon we far as I know. I also don’t know if a coupon code. AliExpress has a coupon if you buy from the store I bought from.

(Amazon doesn't do tax after like aliexpress so it worked out cheaper)
+ ps I've just ordered mine watching your vid and the one diff with my Amazon set, I have no cosmos but I think they called it salmon cause that was the only color left over, it's misspelt but I don't really blame em as a Chinese company we're lucky to get English names on it at all 😅
Yes, aside from all the misspellings on them. I don’t have the Holbeins. Loving these though even with the inaccurate spellings. They even copied the stars for lightfast ratings which I’ve seen after a bit more research. Although, I’m sure these aren’t lightfast and it’s just their way of adding a bit more to the pencil to make the names look fancy. 😀
Thank you for the thorough work you do for your reviews. I had to laugh when you said, 'I don't need any more pencils!' How often have I said that! But these look like nice pencils. Being oil based, they might go well with the Polychromos set, which is rather lacking in light colours.

I wasn’t going to get these as I have just about every other pastel set but after watching you swatch these I am sorely tempted. Would we use them all? Maybe put the pastel sets together in one case? Maybe, I really want them now 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Pamela , I also bought these after Lyndsey the Frugal Crafter reviewed them , they are really beautiful , I use them along side my pablos and I have a couple of open stock Polychromos, they all blend beautifully. I’ve probably had mine for maybe 5 weeks and I’ve had about 3 pencils where the lead seemed to break a couple of times during sharpening . Thanks for a lovely video x
These pencils are just gorgeous. Brutfuner totally out did themselves with this little collection. I bought the 80 set of bright, but I was so disappointed with those and ended up throwing them out so was very hesitant buying these, but luckily they really exceeded my expectations!
I'm practicing with these today! I'm also playing with the best ways to blend and smooth out the multiple layers (i.e. blending pencil vs alcohol blender, which always messes me up).
This is going to seem very odd. All this time I thought people were saying to not ever use an electric sharpener for the color pencils due to the breaking of the sharpener. So, they were not talking about that! They meant the sharpener breaks the pencils!!! HaHA! I thought it was because the pencils I had kept breaking my $30 electric sharpeners over and over and over. I had them cheap junk pencils. Now I know you all meant that the sharpeners break the good quality pencils.
I would love a comparison!!! I bet both sets, together, would make beautiful pastel colorings, drawings and ALL kinds of fun art!!! I know I won't order them from AliExpress though. I am an even more paranoid person. LOL!!! I will have to wait for them to come to Amazon or maybe get them on another Amazon. Definitely want to try them though!!
I’m not sure these will come to Amazon. I figured if I didn’t order from AliExpress I may never have them. I’m so happy with my purchase. I don’t own the Holbeins so not even knowing what I may be missing is great. I don’t need the Holbein pastels now. 😀
The names and stars are simply copied from Holbein (with some typos, of all things). The stars are the Holbein lightfast ratings on the originals, but more than likely mean nothing on these brutfuner.
I’m okay with just two typos. I wonder if others have the same typos. No one has mentioned it yet. I don’t have the Holbein set and not worried about having lightfast pencils so I’m happy with these. I don’t see the set of Holbein pastels in my future and probably don’t need them now. I’ve been using these pencils for the last few days and I love them.
Just a couple of notes re color names: B1122 is pronounced jaw-jay or jaw-no. B1198 is actually Olive Yellow. There are sometimes typos on the product\packaging, and there can be translation issues.
The design and color names of these pencils are basically a shameless Holbein Rip-off, while the series name "Macaron" is ripped off of the Indra pencils, lol. This is already reason enough for me to not buy these. I'm sure Brutfuner can do better than that.
AliExpress has a pretty decent system for those who are nervous about shopping there. When you pay, the seller doesn't get it; it goes into escrow. You confirm when you receive it and all is well, and then the seller gets it. The few times I've had problems with an item missing, etc., the sellers have been pretty eager to fix it because they don't get the payment until you confirm (mostly - the holding period ends after so many days but can be extended if order isn't received yet.)

I work in an allergy department, and we abbreviate our lightly cooked egg challenges to 'LCE', so your pencil named LCE green made me chuckle 😊

Although, I’m sure these aren’t lightfast and it’s just their way of adding a bit more to the pencil to make the names look fancy. 😀
Thank you for the thorough work you do for your reviews. I had to laugh when you said, 'I don't need any more pencils!' How often have I said that! But these look like nice pencils. Being oil based, they might go well with the Polychromos set, which is rather lacking in light colours.
PS. Would love to see a comparison with the Castle Art Pasteltints.

I wasn’t going to get these as I have just about every other pastel set but after watching you swatch these I am sorely tempted. Would we use them all? Maybe put the pastel sets together in one case? Maybe, I really want them now 🤣🤣🤣
What is the difference in the brutfuner macarons and the Roroalu and the Indra?
I only have this set so I can’t compare.
Hi Pamela , I also bought these after Lyndsey the Frugal Crafter reviewed them , they are really beautiful , I use them along side my pablos and I have a couple of open stock Polychromos, they all blend beautifully. I’ve probably had mine for maybe 5 weeks and I’ve had about 3 pencils where the lead seemed to break a couple of times during sharpening . Thanks for a lovely video x

These pencils are just gorgeous. Brutfuner totally out did themselves with this little collection. I bought the 80 set of bright, but I was so disappointed with those and ended up throwing them out so was very hesitant buying these, but luckily they really exceeded my expectations!

I'm practicing with these today! I'm also playing with the best ways to blend and smooth out the multiple layers (i.e. blending pencil vs alcohol blender, which always messes me up).

This is going to seem very odd. All this time I thought people were saying to not ever use an electric sharpener for the color pencils due to the breaking of the sharpener. So, they were not talking about that! They meant the sharpener breaks the pencils!!!
HaHA! I thought it was because the pencils I had kept breaking my $30 electric sharpeners over and over and over. I had them cheap junk pencils. Now I know you all meant that the sharpeners break the good quality pencils.
Correction to previous comment - Olive Yellow is the correct color, not Olire Yellow.
I would love a comparison!!! I bet both sets, together, would make beautiful pastel colorings, drawings and ALL kinds of fun art!!! I know I won't order them from AliExpress though. I am an even more paranoid person. LOL!!! I will have to wait for them to come to Amazon or maybe get them on another Amazon. Definitely want to try them though!!
I’m not sure these will come to Amazon. I figured if I didn’t order from AliExpress I may never have them. I’m so happy with my purchase. I don’t own the Holbeins so not even knowing what I may be missing is great. I don’t need the Holbein pastels now. 😀
The names and stars are simply copied from Holbein (with some typos, of all things). The stars are the Holbein lightfast ratings on the originals, but more than likely mean nothing on these brutfuner.
I’m okay with just two typos. I wonder if others have the same typos. No one has mentioned it yet. I don’t have the Holbein set and not worried about having lightfast pencils so I’m happy with these. I don’t see the set of Holbein pastels in my future and probably don’t need them now. I’ve been using these pencils for the last few days and I love them.

You probably have a newer set.
Just a couple of notes re color names: B1122 is pronounced jaw-jay or jaw-no. B1198 is actually Olive Yellow. There are sometimes typos on the product\packaging, and there can be translation issues.

The design and color names of these pencils are basically a shameless Holbein Rip-off, while the series name "Macaron" is ripped off of the Indra pencils, lol. This is already reason enough for me to not buy these. I'm sure Brutfuner can do better than that.
AliExpress has a pretty decent system for those who are nervous about shopping there. When you pay, the seller doesn't get it; it goes into escrow. You confirm when you receive it and all is well, and then the seller gets it. The few times I've had problems with an item missing, etc., the sellers have been pretty eager to fix it because they don't get the payment until you confirm (mostly - the holding period ends after so many days but can be extended if order isn't received yet.)
