sitting here working on illustrating a comic & I hear my name get said on the show & it shocked me so much I thought for a moment that maybe I wasn't actually awake
It truely is a christmas special when Evan gets asked "What's the difference between the occulus rift and the occulus quest" and Ben sneaks in the Italian character as "mario"
Anyone ever put together that Evan’s friend is called Bevan Smart and Evan’s go-to character name when you have to create a game character is Evanstupid ?
This might be my favourite episode of GGG ever. So many laughs, some great game nerdery, great banter, and, as a little Xmas present for us all after a horrible year, a discussion about the difference between the Occulus Rift S and the Occulus Quest 2. Thank you GGG team, have a wonderful Xmas ❤️
I would love for y'all to talk about Cyberpunk more, I think it's kind of a moment in gaming (or evidence of a future more pivotal moment) that may change things in gaming or the perspective on game development. I follow other upcoming games and I see comparisons to Cyberpunk and I assume they will continue. Discussion of graphics vs. gameplay, crunch, main story vs. side content, diversity, marketing, console generations, the cyberpunk genre, go off, I'd be excited to listen.
Yeah I'm keen to hear more too. I suspect it will make studios stop promising the world and make them talk to the engineers about what's achievable in the timeline they want to hit. This is obviously a moment where the higherups didn't listen to the devs and now they're looking at a 120 million dollar loss. I think other people in the industry should listen and learn here.
@@adamcharming Since when does this industry listen and learn? CP2077 still made so much cash, even with the refunds. I doubt much positive change will come out of this. All it's done is tarnish CDPR's rep, which people will forget about in time.
Merry Christmas Et cetera! As chaotic as ever. If I unsubscribe and then re-subscribe will you read my name out. I came for the Animal crossing joke because someone posted a pic on tumblr. 18:00
bonanno, the quest 2 is like a very powerful phone, so it's easiest to use but not the most powerful, and could be a bit of a lesser experience connected to a PC, vs one of evan's cyberhelmets that are more like very expensive interfaces to a gaming PC; more powerful, less convenient.
oh btw the exploration of what it means to be human is very subtle in cyberpunk & almost entirely done via optional side quests And even then it's not explicit; it's a noodler. It's actually one of the few things about cyberpunk which actually impressed me, how carefully they made the philosophical questions hard to think about in a world so massively packed with distractions & neon & marketing: just like real life.
not to say the rest of the game isn't good or fine; it's just not terribly impressive to me. I don't care too much about graphics. The subtlety of some of the facial expressions is fantastic, though
@@jamdoodles I would tend to agree with your sentiments. It's a fun game and I played the shit out of it. But I also played the shit out of Fallout 4 and it really reminds me alot of that game. FO 3 was such a huge and deep RPG and FO4 kinda made it look nice but dumbed down all the RPG elements everyone loved. The same can be said for Witcher 3 and CP2077. Plus, just like FO4, CP2077 is a bit of a mess.
13:49, 23:53, 27:22, 31:15 when people ask me why I have spent nearly $2000 on video games in my life so far, 33:17, 35:42, 36:38, 1:07:46, 1:15:08, 1:23:40, 1:24:05 the most brutal prank i have ever seen in my life, 1:38:18,
I am bingeing GGG starting from the most recent eps and I bloody can't wait to find out how the Oculus difference gag started, how the boys in the wall gag started, how the dog shooting gag started and I'm really hoping Evan mentions his imaginery cooler friend Bevin Smart once more.
I believe that initially gaming companies used to group test their games by paying players to play their games once finished to suss out those bugs. Now they have figured out that they can just release the game, have access to the largest group test possible and have the group pay themselves for testing the game, the reviewers give the first problem reports and they patch it on the fly saving them money while they are still raking it in as it keeps on selling.
You know, all these talks about the PS5 stock problems and conspiracies and here I am, sitting back and deciding just like my previous Playstation console purchases to wait for the second generation slim version of the console when it has more games on it, when it has become streamlined and bug free. And when it gets a price cut. You people squabble over this limited console with a remaster for an exclusive and Imma stick to my Ps4 Pro which still has two years of life left in it. Right now my main focus is to buy the switch.
@@Butterratbee of course, aesthetics have nothing to do with why a much more superior console under the hood sold less than its competitor right? Why don't we package everything in bland black zero personality boxes because after all the hardware is the only thing that matters, right? What are you even saying?
@@navtektv your reply is just reinforcing the idea that people are dumb. If you picked a console based on how it looks, even though the games look better and run better, then you’re dumb. Also the Xbox doesn’t look bad, it’s just a black box. The ps5 however does actively look bad. Good job not understanding an incredibly simple thing
When around 1:19:00 Ben talks about the reviewers not having enough time to properly evaluate the game... whose fault is that? Also the PS5 looks like it weighs more than Naomi.
the last of us 2 may have taken a risk in its story telling but that doesn't excuse the shitty execution of it, the game's only real pros are the actors like troy baker, there is political ideals forced into the game, some are overplayed and others are either irrelevant or portrayed poorly. the story and characters suffer from the writing being inconsistent for example Abby tortures and murders Joel but during our time playing as abby she is portrayed as someone who'd never consider such a thing
I disagree, I believe that through reflection of her actions enabled her to change. Its not perfect, but for me it's the best example of how great games can be to deliver exciting ways to tell stories. I also really enjoy the gameplay and the world. To me most if not every pillar of the game works really well. Which is rare for this kind of scale game

One hour and 40 minutes, now this is the real Christmas gift
8:18 Tazo popping up at Naomi liking reganomics is spectacular

I really need a 2 hour video of every segment where Evan explains the Oculus to the panelists.

Mark: "Kids watch this show, I mean losers"
Me: "I have never felt so seen"

8:18 dog just appears, so cute
Just stumbled upon this channel as a recent Aunty Donna convert, and I am sitting here dying at Bevin Smart. fastest subscribe click ever.
an hour and 40?! this is the girthy podcast I've always wanted
Ben looks like he is wearing one of those fake nose and glasses disguise things
So glad to hear about Bevin again. When are you having him on the show Evan?
They can’t both be in the same room at the same time
😂
I knew I remembered him mentioning him before
The minute oculus started getting talked about we all knew what was coming... marks face was gold
Acceptable dog to human ratio
It definitely came back...
How did I not notice Evan's antlers until 4 minutes in!?
You guys actually talked about games. I liked it.
Just started watching gamey gamey game and I freaking love it. LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT SEASON TOMORROW!
1:24:50 My expectations have been subverted.

going back ...the small desk is freaking me out...
26:26 Bevan Smart gets a new phone each month
8:22 Wait! Did Tazo just wink? What is going on?
Yay!!! I was just thinking how much I wished I had a new Gamey Gamey Game!
Go with the Quest 2 mark, it works great with Alyx just connect to your computer with the included USB and have fun!
But what's the difference between that and the rift?
I can’t believe Ben hasn’t played a single game more than 120 hours? I would’ve thought everyone has spent that on their favorite game or games.
I’m glad you all got the game talk out of your system cause I’d like a lot more bullying next time

Laughing at Mark's joke about losers watching the show and then realising that's me, so sad
WHO'S BEEN RAZZING UP THE FAKKEN DOG?!?!
Merry Christmas Mark and Ben you shitlords ;p
Duty of All: Cold Ghosts at Modern Warzone - Advanced WWII.5 (United Big Black One: Red Ops Assault)
Ben has convinced me to pick up Ghost of Tsushima.
@suckerpunch pls send me my comission.
