Don't be such an emotionally void troll. It's a hobby Les enjoys and there's sentimental value in taking the time and effort to find gold to cast your own daughter's wedding rings. No one said it was the cheapest way to get gold rings. We all know you can buy something from a pawn shop if you're being a total stinge and don't realise that the effort and love that goes into a wedding ring is symbolic of the love of a long happy marriage. What kind of powder is that which you put in while melting and did you add mercury to it?
The flux is a commercial flux for that purpose. When melting gold nuggets down, I use borax. There is no mercury involved in this process.
How much money will be paid for 10gram of gold nuggets
Gold is about $85 for one gram.
If i melt down my 26g ring. Do I get a 26g ingot? Or or is there snag?
You basically get 26g back. There will be minor losses but not much.

An oxy torch was used. I think it was propane
Does the heat get rid of the quartz ?
The gold melts into a molten blob. Impurities mix with the flux which sets on top of the gold.
