It is not really unaffected.
It is more like deal with the other card first.
Negating summons should also still work.
Cannot be unaffected, if it wasn’t summoned.
Underworld goddess with IP can still use unaffected cards.
the something tenpai does going 1st is good old seals pass, good enough when you have 4 handtraps.
you can do some really wild stuff if you have the three names

@@TheDBGrinderYou would also use Seals to summon either Zhongdora in Defense, which can then summon Fadora in Defense to make two unkillable Dragons on the opponents’ turn, or they’d summon Fadora in Defense and use its effect to revive either Zhongdora or Baidora in Defense to achieve the same effect. Seals is actually pretty good in Tenpai Dragon.
You can end on secret village with nirvana high paladin. Or you can end on necrovalley with ultimaya tzolkin, seals and blackwing assault dragon and then quick synchro into baronne on opponents turn.
This deck makes me question dusting off my battle faders or play a modern battle fader

on game 1, OTK goes like this
Green summon off sangen kaimen
Green attack for 16; Green effect, special Red
Red attack for 15, Red effect synchro with green into the 7
the 7 effect special green, attack for 26 and 16, they're on 700, green effect synchro with the 7 into any 10, attack direct
finally not a snake-eye mirror
The way this deck gets 37k damage is through trident dragion, which is what this archetype is referencing, you summon trident dragion to pop your supertranscend and the field spell, then field spell target trident dragion to double its ATK, so now you have a 6000 atk monster that attacks 3 times and superdragon revives itself
it almost feels like konami is just tired of decks being handtrap.dek, so they make field spells that force you to consider playing other types of answers to your opponents fields because you cant handtrap them, but then forgot to add something that would de-incentivize tenpai from running 20 handtraps lmfao. having to make cards unaffected to even give them a chance in competing in the modern yugioh era is kinda wild tho

The problem with cards like that is most of the time tenpai literally doesn't have the resources to go into it MP1 and still be able to combo in the battle

I really liked testing different variants of the Tenpai deck. Dragonmaid was very fun. Rokket was dirty going first. Pure could go crazy so easy off so little and can ignore handtraps. So many crazy battle phase plays to make, AFD combos, Rank 7 plays if you want, the previously near useless Trident Dragon; I wish the field spell and level 4 weren't such nutty cards because I'm putting money on high prices and early limits.

Deck still weak to hts but let’s hope they will get good support in INFO especially a new level 4 tuner that can be easily special summoned
@@Od9189 Pretty sure all the VASM decks are done for now. Deck build archetypes usually only get 3-4 support cards after their initial set.

This deck is wild but I love it. Fact that dragons are dangerous, aggressive and breathe fire. The deck plays exactly like that. Invincible in the main phase with the field spell and aggro out in the battle phase. Trick to beating them I think is saving interruptions for the battle phase and then stopping them.
if they make synchro 10 before battle then theres no point where you can interact with the monsters, you need stuff like ash/ogre etc to hit the other cards in the engine it feels like

the deck has a time option and can use striker to go into sp if needed. And i cant wait to play my ultimate rare trident dragion

if you want to put normal trap I would suggest threatening roar over waboku, waboku still allows tenpai dragon to attack which they could build 1st turn board

They can destroy their field spell and another card on their field with Trident Dragion (a level 10), when they do that it gets to attack 3 times (monsters or directly) and it goes to 6k attack.

balancing a going second deck seems difficult these days and this deck does not fit well. the fact the synchro monsters have once per duel effects to revive themselves goes more into the idea that they always want to end the game that battle phase. as other commenters noted, effects that give your cards protection by being unaffected as well as the battle phase card/effect lock gives little counter play or interaction, which further devolves gameplay into one sided swings with the opponent having the out or not. similar to centurion, the decks larger non-engine to engine ratios can cause frustrating turn 1s, with either the opponent likely having to navigate 3-4 handtraps.
having conflicted feelings about what this deck means for the game. if this it what it takes for a going second deck to be meta, really hope that future archetypes designed aren't huge damage pushes with no recourse after their first turn.

Game 1, Tenpai could've played music ch better summoning Transcendant to prevent activations on BP and then go to BP for game and opponent couldn't do shit. One Imperm, Ash or Belle in hand and it was lights out for the Tenpai player.
its still crazy some of TCG players think tenpai wouldn't work in their format due to blind 2nd deck, even us OCG think the deck is really great to take maxx c challenge + under prosperity.tenpai isn't like mikanko or numeron that you have specifically draw lava golem to otk, the deck have a lot of variety engine that can put up in the deck also cheap (TCG would rarity bump it sadly), also keep it mind this is only 1st wave of archtype released, we could potentially see more support in the future.

with how oppressive some boards are when going first, i think tenpai dragons need to be sorta busted. most battle phase decks or going second decks are considered bad or niche at best by most players.

Everytime a new competent deck drops so many persons complain. This is the only way for a going second deck to be successful. How else can a deck play through 5+ negates and interactions that going first decks always make
the deck is only good if no one prepared for it. The Black Goat Laughs and Odd Eyes Meteor Dragon are just examples of cards that shut the deck down completely, and the deck actually just dont do anything going first/it has no follow up.

For the people saying ghost ogre or battle fader, they can place the field and not activate it to play around ogre, they can also maker the synchro 10 in main go to battle then activate sangen kaimen to play around battle handtraps. As for the ashened card, it wipes both fields when it lives the field so they can make like a hita with it then wipe your own board to trig hita and search. Free sauce.

Ghost Ogre, Ghost Mourner, Ash, D.D. Crow...there are plenty of answers to this deck it seems you just have to learn when to use them...and this is assuming they open with the field spell.
If they're going to always go second: Waboku will let you survive the otk link, but Threatening Roar won't let them attack to gain any of those damage step effect. Then you have D Barrier that essentially says they can't play and any bird player with Harpie's Feather Storm the same thing, D Shifter and Different Dimension Ground that takes away their gy utility.
If they reach tier 0 status we'll simply switch off Veiler and Nib in the main for the cards listed
Sounds like a healthy and fun format if cards like Shifter, DDG, D Barrier are the choices to play... If that's the case you either build an anti meta deck just to beat it and being unable to play anything you like..
Or you go into the handtrap battle, however they def play more non engine than you. So you pass over again and again until someone combos off. Which is like the format we already have now.
Either way, I doubt Tenpai Dragons in the format will be fun :(
