The Bema Seat Judgment is one of the most important doctrines in the NT. Unfortunately, it’s an often overlooked and underemphasized doctrine as well. Thanks for the solid teaching, John!
I have a mental health condition and really want to reign with Christ sometimes I am too ill to do any work for God, I get depression really bad and I am layed up in bed a lot of the times I really do not want to lose out on my heavenly rewards but I suffer so much with this Bipolar condition, please pray for me
We will receive what is due us for the deeds we did, "whether good or bad." 2 Tim 2:4: The first time I was brought before the judge, no one came with me. Everyone abandoned me. May it not be counted against them." When would it be counted against them? Obviously at the Bema seat. We want to believe that God will overlook our moral decisions but the Bible says we will receive for all good deeds and bad deeds.
Good question. No, but the Scriptures do connect a couple of consequences to the loss of rewards: (1) 1 Corinthians 3:15 describes "suffering loss" which primarily describes loss of rewards, but the word used seems to indicate a regretful response to the loss. (2) 1 Corinthians 3:15 also still describes the person who has suffered loss of reward as being "saved." So a "punitive" judgment is not in view here (such as "outer darkness"). (3) 1 John 2:28 describes the possibility of "being ashamed" at the Lord's coming for His saints, and I think this too would tie in to loss of rewards. Through carnality, the believer is put to shame because their life could have been more effective for the Lord. If you have time, please check out our series on "The Bema Seat and Outer Darkness" (www.gracenewnan.org/sunday-night-messages?category=The%20Judgement%20Seat ).
If all are being rewarded and I lose reward, it is punitive. What is so hard about understanding this??? Did Jesus come to only lighten our sentences from death to less jewelry? Is that what He did?
Great question! More than simply analyzing or overanalyzing yourself, your motives, your heart, etc. I would encourage you to really just occupy yourself with Jesus Christ and enjoy Him. (2 Corinthians 3:18) Then, as you do things in service to others as unto the Lord (which, by the way is anything and everything you do during the day - washing dishes, folding laundry, witnessing, leading a bible study, changing a diaper, etc.) mentally engage with the Lord by faith in a relational way, depending upon Him for all you do. This is what Romans 6:12-13 calls "presenting" your members to the Lord as one alive from the dead. If you have a chance, watch our sermon series on Romans, especially chapters 6, 7, and 8 to learn about what God did to free you from sin's power and HOW you walk by faith in the Christian life.
I Cor 3:9 For we (ministers Paul, Apollos, Cephas) are labourers together with God; ye (Corinthian believers) are God's husbandry... :14 If any man's.. is referring to the ministers, not the general believers. Bema seat is a fallacy.
Nowhere it says loss of reward. Suffer loss is not about reward. I can’t believe how the entire Christian church has become work oriented just like the pharisees. We didn’t learn anything?
well then please explain Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Timothy 4:1: Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom, He judges the world Hebrews 9 27: And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment on what they did during their lives Matthew 16:27: For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. Revelation 11:18: Both the saved and lost will be judged I think it's Biblical to say the entire world including Christians will be judged come His return or at our death. We won't be condemned though. That's what Christ did for us. We are all guilty before a Holy God and I believe we will be shown our sinfulness and be judged on judgment day. We will all face God's Holy standard. We all deserve hell. Romans 3:10-17 says there is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless, there is no one who does good, not even one person.” Going into a courtroom to be judged for a crime we committed, is not being condemned for a crime. There's a difference. Jesus became that sin offering and now we are set free from that condemnation. The Bible is pretty clear on this.
In BEMA judgment all Christians who died with Christ and all those who were caught up or Raptured will be judge....IThes 4:13 onward....But take heart we are all save but we don't have a reward to offer in the feet of Jesus bec All the works we've done are tested by fire

I marvel about how it is not talked about. Thanks for talking about it on this video.

Wow, what a great explanation of this complicated passage! I agree 100%. Thanks so much for your work!
Thank you!
I'm researching this subject as I'm in the Pacific Garden Mission Bible discipleship program in Chicago Illinois

QUESTION:
What happens to those that lose rewards? Are they taken away from Jesus presence, cast into outer darkness?

Listen 🎶 up Joy Get back into Fellowship
So, is everyone saved and some of us are just getting fewer rewards?
Quick question
How can I know if my service is in Christ, and not in me? Do I have to serve with a good heart? Please explain it to me if you can.

This sounds hopeful , but 2 Corinthians 5:10-11 has to balance out what this video says.
I repent
well then please explain Ecclesiastes 12:14
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
Timothy 4:1: Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom, He judges the world
Hebrews 9 27:
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment on what they did during their lives
Matthew 16:27: For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
