I love how this animatic shows just how DONE Odysseus is with this whole journey, how much hell he's been through, so his personality's just been chipped away until he's just the embodiment of his rage at the circumstances and the drive to see his wife and son, no matter the cost.

In the original myth, Odysseus hangs on to a random spindly tree while Charybdis swallows his raft. When she coughs it up, he paddles away on the remains of it where he winds up on Calypso's island
this Is what I love about epic. they change up the source material so much and yet It’s still such a well thought out and amazingly crafted story that feels original even though It Isn’t
This animatic is going to be the one to beat once vengeance comes out. Going to be hard to top the incredible expressions and shots though. Killer animatic
oh my goodness this is so amazingly done! the glint in his eyes, dynamic poses, his facial expressions, the sense of movement carrying across frames, how you make the scenes zoom in, cutting the sail at 0:41 was great, and the energy in the lines at 0:54 *chef's kiss* breathtaking, and changing the screen ratio to show the intensity was genius 10 out of 10 edit: and I didn't even talk about the sense of camera movement!!!!!
This animation is so SICK! This is miles ahead of the other storyboards I've seen for Epic. The animation principles are so on point and you can tell EXACTLY what's happening at any given time. The way the water is animated to convey speed? The crazy cinematography? The sick use of the lyrics to show the literal actions? Man your animation reel should show more of this, it's your best work so far. Major props. A great reminder that youtube channel size is not an accurate reflection of skill. What a find!
I recently discovered this and I don't usually comment on animatics but this BLEW ME AWAY! It stands out amongst any other animatics out there, and HAS to be my favourite! Even if it's older, it's so cool and fluid! I love how you animate so much, never forget how talented you are!
I didnt know how long Odysseus's crew lasts in the story, but according to a video I watched about the Odyssey they do all die before his last encounter with Charybdis. I say this because I was confused why Odysseus is alone facing the monster. Also, Odysseus only had a piece of his large boat to hang on to rather than a small boat when facing Charybdis!

I recently discovered this and I don't usually comment on animatics but this BLEW ME AWAY! It stands out amongst any other animatics out there, and HAS to be my favourite! Even if it's older, it's so cool and fluid! I love how you animate so much, never forget how talented you are!
I didnt know how long Odysseus's crew lasts in the story, but according to a video I watched about the Odyssey they do all die before his last encounter with Charybdis. I say this because I was confused why Odysseus is alone facing the monster. Also, Odysseus only had a piece of his large boat to hang on to rather than a small boat when facing Charybdis!
I love the shot of the light from Charybdis' eye passing over Odysseus. The bright yellow against the darkness of the rest of the shot is just... *mwah*.

This is definitelly THE best EPIC animatic i've seen when it comes to the feeling of movement, and that Smear Framing its just too good
I don't even have words just HOW smooth it looks like and it has this feeling coming from Odysseus that speaks full "Ok bring it on, you are just a minor obstacle between me and my loved ones, YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE!" specially that 00:53 spot, so full of feeling , made my skin on goosebumps.
