- Run the Rock: My mate Pete rolled his ankle badly when we were running one morning. He limped back to the carpark and I kept going. As I continued to run I thought, ‘I’m gonna get my crowbar and wheelbarrow, dig that big-arse rock out of the trail and run it to Pete’s house’. So that’s what I did.

"There's a good chance that's Beau Miles'" Brilliant, lol.
That's a good friend. He recognizes that only Beau is weird enough to do that.
Made Mr giggle
Lmaoo who else, floored me
I laughed so hard at that.
Oh that was great 😂
Great little backyard adventure mate. Once again you make the simplest of jaunts feel wonderful and exciting. I’ll be buying your book!
The geowizard has great taste!
unlikely duo
Always fun when my favourite TH-camrs watch my other favourite TH-camrs!
Straight line with a wheelbarrow across the Black Country 🤔
Running across Australia in a strait line when?!?
"There's a good chance that that's Beau Miles." I'd say when people quantify unusual scenarios by assuming you're involvement, you're winning. Laughed out loud at that bit.
Me too
Thanks to everyone who voted for The Backyard Adventurer in Booktopias Favourite Australian Book Award.
Very cool notes about this production: Mitch and I produced this film in 4 days from start to finish/shoot to upload (Mitch still refuses to drink coffee- he’s very pure, which is actually pretty hard arse). This is our quickest turnaround by far, way quicker than even the haircut film (which was really just a 45min shoot!). Big insights: no reshoots/shoot to edit/do multiple takes while filming/running; get your focus right (Mitch killed it, I just push ‘on’); trust the story; have fun; get good help (Mitch's partner Kelly and sister Sherb on socials and photos) and shack up to an understanding/hardworking wife or girlfriend so that you and your mate can lock yourselves in an old garden shed for a few days. Lastly, we split the film into parts to split up the storytelling/edit to keep ourselves from drifting. In all, it was a bloody excellent, but not quite sustainable form of filmmaking.
Perfect timing! Cbeers mate, love ya!
I think you are a genius. Cheers from Oregon
Just finished listening to the 2 podcast episodes 1.5 minutes ago! Great Podcast, can't wait for more! Great film too! Also, I voted twice for the book, not sure if that was allowed, but I did it. Cheers!
Beau, my favourite benign feral youtuber, bless!!
Voted. 👏👏👍👍
"When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you're winning" - that seems to encapsulate so much of what your videos are about and it's what keeps bringing me back every time you upload. Also, there's the fact that you can somehow make a bloody good story out of digging a rock out the ground...there's not too many people on TH-cam who possess such a talent (nor the motivation or imagination to do so). Good on ya Beau!
love this
Absolutely brilliant that line.
I feel this way running in my neighborhood after being on vacation. Often thinking, if I was still on vacation I would have taken a photo of that sight! It is a great experience to view the familiar in a new light.
@@ArthurDentDK yep! So often I catch myself taking the place I live for granted. It's always nice to get out of that box and see things from a new perspecitve
What Josh said!
There is a certain feeling you get after watching a Beau Miles film that is a bit undescribable. You just know that the world will be ok.
Two things occur to me:
1) I’ll happily watch anything narrated by Beau
2) no one says “bastard” like an Aussie
The Irish run them close 😀
2 Beau Miles videos in one month? Has he gone mad? Thank you for the presents Beau!
Was a stretch, but we got there!
“Hey, there’s a bloke goin along the side of the road with a wheelbarrow!”
“Oh yeah? What’s he doin?”
“I dunno. I think he’s carrying a rock.”
“Oh yeah, that makes sense.” 😂🤣
"I heard the rock hurt his friend, and he's claimed it in some kind of warriors honour thing"
"I heard the rock is a monument, a testament to their ever growing friendship built on the foundations of healthy rivalry and a shared persuit"
"I heard the rock is their illegitimate love child."
you are an absolute gift to the world sir. you keep adventuring, we’ll keep being inspired!
"I've always thought I'd want to be a golf ball hunter if I could be anything, but maybe I want to be a rock extractor"
What a legend
Beau Miles, the only TH-camr that can get me to watch a 10 minute video about a rock, and be entertained the whole way through. Thank you sir. Bravo 👏
I saw this comment, my next recommended video was Tom Scott talking about rocks for 3 minutes.... It's not 10, but if he had 10 minutes of rock content I'd probably watch that too haha
I absolutely love this channel! Mate your videos are absolute piece of art! Well done! Good on you mate! Keep going!
I'd never imagine to find Captain Joe here....a good surprise!
Hey Beau. When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you're winning" Thats what life is about. Keeping it simple and slowing down enough to appreciate the little simple things. Thanks for a great channel!
Mate, i am Nicaraguan, living in Germany and for some reason i've found one of your videos, by now i've seen them all and just started reading your book, i still struggle understanding some words ( my mother language is spanish) but i find absolutely interesting how you can turn the simplest task into something exciting, congrats on your book and your channel!!
That is a serious bruise / roll of the ankle. OUCH!!!! Well done removing the rock, all the locals wanted to yet never had the right equipment with them at the time.
the thing i love about the random stuff Beau does, is that they create value for the community around him, large or small, whether its planting trees, or just travelling from one place to another, this is a man who leaves a trail of positivity in his wake, keep it up mate.
Beau you crack me up with your monologue 🤣
Your lovely wife is the coolest for not minding your odd adventuring!
I'm pretty sure that everybody in his district isn't surprised anymore. They go out for a nice Sunday drive and see Beau just casually running with a wheelbarrow and it´s just a normal Sunday in the neighborhood. no-one bats an eye anymore. I love it! Great video as usual bud!
the 100% fact he NAILED you on the FIRST GUESS was EPIC!!!!!!!! hahahaha.... it had me crying
As someone who rolls a ankle once every 6 months i appreciate your service mate 👍
Most people in the world would be thinking "...its a rock". But for most of us watching, that rock was just a solid piece of entertainment for 10 minutes! I love the obscurity and mystery that Beau always finds amongst the most common, everyday things. Keep it up bud!
Often when I'm out in the sticks, I find myself thinking "why didn't I bring a bag for rubbish?" Now I'm going to have to escalate that to a wheelbarrow.
Brucey you absolute legend. Beau youre good too mate, real good..
6:33 that quote sums up why I love this channel so much. "doing things some of us think but not many of us do"
Too many people don't even use their blinker while driving... Beau does it whilst pushing a wheelbarrow. Goodonyas!
I love the way beau treats life with the enthusiasm of a five year old wearing a batman Cape and ya just know ya gonna have a smile on ya face when the video finishes..👍👍👍
“When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you’re winning.” What a line.
Beau- Love that you keep playing around.
Cheers,
Steve
there is an element of performance art in this person
I genuinely feel like watching Beau’s videos has made me a better person. Thanks Beau!
I cannot put into words how much I love these films. Everything Beau says, and does are a complete reflection of someone, who I believe, is living the right life. Carefree, sense of humor, sees the interest and joy in anything that he does. The audience that Beau captivates is also a special group. I try to show these films to people all the time, and sometimes they don't quite stick as much with my mates as they do with me. Keep making films Beau
oh, the happiness! The happiness I got from this. Thanks Beau😁
And how lush does Helen look 😍 Congratulations!!!!
For shizzle.
Beau you have reached a new level of awesome.
This is bloody fantastic. It’s like a comedy skit crossed with a motivational workout demonstration. 😂 I love it
Reminds me of running with shopping trolleys. Good fun!
“When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you’re winning” one of the best things I’ve ever heard
That's great Beau i was riding my push bike this afternoon and found half of a butternut pumpkin still cold wrapped in plastic, obviously had just be dropped..
"I was gonna name it Rocky or Sharon" I actually laughed out loud.
This is a massively underrated channel. Fully deserves more subscribers and viewers. Well done Beau, keep the films coming :)
Next book title wrapped up neatly there for you: There's a good chance, that's Beau Miles.
I dare anyone to watch this and not have a smile on your face the entire time. Well done mate!
I was saddened that he took the rock in the first place whose cares about his stupid friend should have been watching where he was going. I'm taking Beau to court to sue him. because he did this on Aboriginal sacred ground.
@@peterlyall6789 That sacred ground just spread a bit further, that should make you happy, not sad.
Rock and run. Or rather, run, rock, knock and run.
I'm really loving the toned down and simple backyard adventures
As an Aussie who has been living overseas for three years (2 of those without the possibility of coming home), watching your videos with a cup of tea brings me closer to home. Thank you for both bringing what I love with home to me on the other side of the world.
Great story. Dad, there’s a rock! Absolutely love this.
"I genuinely love doing things that I think some of us think but not many of us do."
Calling the rock “Sharon” 😂 amazing! Cheers Beau, another good one, just bought the book too so looking forward to having a good old read, all the best from Norfolk, UK 🇬🇧
I really love all your videos Beau. They are honest entertainment and I respect that. No algorithm BS. No smash that like button. Good stuff, Mate!
But I "smashed" (lightly clicked on) the "like" button all the same :)
So I’m right at 4:00 in, I think this rock is gonna be waaaaay more work than Beau is expecting. On the farm we had a small rock in the orchard, and one day when our friends were out with their landscaping setup to help pipe and fill a ditch we decided to get the bobcat over to see about getting this pesky rock out of the orchard. We came back the next day with a crane, and a dump truck of soil.
Edit: I’m pleasantly surprised for Beau lol, never really know how these things will go
These videos feel so incredibly human to me. There's a warmth to them that always picks me up. Cheers, Beau
Back in my landscaping days, running wheelbarrows full of soil, gravel, or rocks from the street to different backyards was always one of the best parts of the day. Always a good bit of competition in whos was the fastest too.
haha then ol mate fucking asses over and has a sulk because gotta clean it up
We did it with Sod. If you hit too many bumps the front of the wheelbarrow would collapse and start rubbing on the wheels. Never stopped us from trying to beat the other guy.
I am actually crying watching a guy running with a wheelbarrow. This is so inspiring.
Your videos have been a huge motivation for me after I broke my leg getting back into doing things was tough, after I saw the Commute I've gotten back into running, climbing, and cycling. All this to say, thanks mate.
Golf ball hunting is so fun. I go with my friends all the time in the summer. Walking through creeks, bushes, down trees. Love it.
I just love your story telling... simple rock and sprained ankle and you made brilliant story out of it. thank you that was great story! I like to see your friend's response to the rock.
Your videos are bloody brilliant! My fav bit of this one is the shout out to the cyclist: "good on ya mate" 🙌🔥💫
A Golf Ball Hunter sounds like a dream job. I didn't know it existed. In Florida, you could be the Dundee of Golf Balls.
It is indeed, or used to be. My old man used to 'fox' golf balls on the course near his house where he grew up, would sell them back to the club or directly to players. If he didn't like a person who asked him if he'd seen their ball he'd pretend he didn't have it in his pocket...
Beau Miles has something that Casey Niestat will never have, a bloody great Aussie accent. Story telling on another level, kudos Beau and team.
You're doing life right when something like this happens and someone goes "there's a good chance that's Beau Miles."
This rock is almost like a gangland warning hahaha the runner's equivalent to a mafioso's thoughtfully gifted horsehead. Once a running nemesis, always a running nemesis 🤷♀
Good on ya Beau. Started running cause of you mate. Love from Adelaide.
My favorite part of this whole video is how well he filled in the hole🤣🤣🤣, good on ya Beau!
You’re a friggin legend Beau, my absolute favourite videos to watch.. don’t stop
Your ALL-IN, attitude and lighthearted style, are pure pleasure!. Thanks! I smile the whole time I’m watching!
Amazing Beau! That’s exactly what I was thinking when you first told the story. Dig it out and give it to the guy.
Two of my kids have come a cropper while riding their bikes on that exact yonnie.
Thank you for putting a stop to this happening again to other young children or grown men like Brucey
I always feel like I've travelled to a far-flung land, experiencing the most exotic of adventures when watching these videos. Thanks for the Vic based experiences Beau.
I love your knack for storytelling Beau. Thanks.
Also my new favorite quote: " When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you're winning".
This is hands down my favourite video of yours, it’s great how you can take something so simple and make a great story and video out of it.
Well done 👏
Congrats to you both on the second kid!! :D
For shizzle. Thanks Beau, helps a lot!
Love it Beau! These little stories you keep telling are fantastic. Keep up the great work!
A true gem of a film as are so many of your other's. The whole family now sits down to watch the latest adventures of Beau Miles. My kids (5, 9) love the narration and word choice while I love the premise of the story being told. My wife however, is always perplexed as to how Helen must feel about her husband running off on another backyard adventure and the conversations around the dinner table you all must have
I’ve never been this emotionally invested in a rock before 😂😂
How thoughtful 😊
I live for your quirky tales, and I think it’s safe for me speak on behalf of everybody here on TH-cam, please do not stop creating your odd inexorable style of beautiful content sir 😂🙏🏽
This is legit one of the best short films I've ever seen, thankyou Beau for brightening what's been a somewhat miserable weekend, don't ever change what you're doing.
Congrats to you and Helen as well 👶🏼
‘When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you’re winning!’ - Beau Miles
'For shizzle.' Thanks again for the lovely storytelling, Beau! Cheers from Pennsylvania.
Whoa whoa whoa. Are you two having another?
Yep!
@@BeauMiles Congrats!
@@BeauMiles Congratulations Beau!!
Beau! You are one of a kind man! Such an inspiration. “When something very familiar seems exotic, you’re winning!” Love it! Great job. Definitely a story worth telling.
"There's a good chance this is Beau Miles" haha
Beau...I love that your inner child isn't "inner" at all!! Child like wonder is something we all need more of. Thank you! 👍😁
8:00 "Oh yeah, that makes sense". Non-Australians please take note, this is the most Australian way for that conversation to pan out.
Beau, I do think less that 0.001% of the population may understand you, but honestly, I think you’re a genius !!!
Greetings from France 👋🏼
A physical life is a good one, I tell ya. Gee, I bloody love it." Lets get that printed on a shirt. 😆
Merch! Not sure. I like the idea but gee we all have a lotta t shirts. I'll see if Patagonia bite
Your channel just makes me happy !
Beau: "... like Rocky or Sharon"
Me: "Sharon? Like Sharon Sto- GET OUTTA HERE BEAU"
Good on ya mate.
What a Mate! I laughed when the iceberg turned into a chip! But still impressed that you ran it into town! Good On Ya! BUT what about the BIG story - Baby # 2 ?!?!?! Twice the Fun!!!
That rock went for the ride of it's life
Video #150 where I comment twice, but "I genuinely love doing things that many of us think but few of us do". You hit it right on the head, I love it.
Cheeky little secret video with a cheeky little secret mission! Love it man, inspires me to do my own little weird missions!
This channel is the hardest to find and THEN stop binge watching, change my mind. Top quality 👍
"That’s quite pleasant" love it. Love your book.
My favorite part of your videos, is the taking of things that others pass by and make it an event to reminisce about in the future.
Mafia style. Bringing the body of the culprit to the victims doorstep. Respectable.
🤣 You're right! That was what I was thinking but couldn't articulate.
Man I don't know how many times you've heard this (or if this the first time) but in some ways you look to me like an aussie Van Gogh Adventure-Carpenter-Philosopher-Gardener-Runner-BeanEater-Kayaker-Storyteller-Climber-Visionary-RockExtractor-Awesome kind of dude! Cheers mate, love your energy and ways in this world.
Love your films mate!
the fact TH-cam is not your profession suprises me because you videos are A class keep up the work 👏
Im first mate! (Or so i thought darn it 🤪) Hey is this some kind of trickery? You just uploaded 9 days ago and now you have another video? What sorcery is this? 🤪
