Second episode was lame, I'm starting to get the impression we got queer baited and there's no lesbian romance.

It's a remake of a 90's Film which itself a remake of a silent era movie. The lesbian love interest happened in the previous movie.
So no, they are NOT using a lesbian couple just to generate interest in the series. It's an integral part of the story.
