for my time (and as if its your last cuz it does the same thing even tho its not in the video) i think what makes most sense is that they mistook "finna" as slang for "finally".... "can i someday finally find my time" "you gon' finally catch me"
In the Jungkook section, apparently, many people confuse "finna" to be another way to say "finally." Meaning the sentiment of the phrase is supposed to read more as "Can I someday, finally find my time? "
English is probably one of the most maluable and fluid languages in the universe, although yes there are many phrases in many other languages that can't be replicated in english to make the most sense, but i do think english is one of the most maluable languages in the human universe
I thought of this while editing: “No one can stop me and CAN’T deny” for the UNIS example wouldn’t work in context - We can’t separate both parts of the conjunction and have them both make sense: “No one can’t deny” means that everyone would deny them, so it doesn’t really fit with the context of the song
Even though it's rare, there's some NMIXX ones, the ones I've remembered are: Don't mind just do it [Don't must do it] And Fresh/ Freshy [Fishy, Fishy]
@@vixxexo6855 I just can't imagine training for 7 years as JYP trainee as JINNI and your lines with your debut is FISHY FISHY IM SO FREAKY on repeat That have no flavour or substance and no explanation at all and the producer told you to sing it no question added
Though I agree with fact that English is a universal language, I do think certain dialects and slang belong or should be associated with certain groups of people. My main example being AAVE or Mexican slang.
There is this one sentence in Te Quiero by Kiss of life that I can't get rid of, it's "I won't deny that my fear of the night when you leave me I know that you feel it too"
I feel like the “I know that you feel it too” part should be seen as a separate line. Then possibly remove the “that” before “my fear of the night” 😂. But even then, it’s really clear what it’s meant 😅
05:37 Idk maybe they got some really nice aged McClellan and they're serving it properly with only a single giant ice cube? I am willing to roll with it solely because they specified that it was whiskey. 😂
@@overthinkingkpop haha 😭 I almost didn’t keep that in because I was afraid that single ice cubes or “on the rocks” had a different meaning, but I’m glad I did!
@@choujimiit does make sense! also the transition from the ending of “rocks” to the start of “whiskey” feels weird to say and not conducive to the quick pace of the lyrics imo
With every vid in this series you make your stance and how you verbalize it becomes more and more abrasive to the xenophobes hiding in grammar police clothing. And I LIVE for it 🙌❤
you should do "told you not so always bday" from run2u! always puzzled me. maybe it means something along the lines of "i told you so, its really (so) always my bday" or smth like that
while i agree with your general sentiment about the english language, i don’t think that it being universal and constantly changing means that there’s no such thing as any “bad english” at all lol. there is definitely bad english depending on the context

Choujimi teaching me better English than my teachers
This begs the question: If there is no such thing as "bad English," can there even BE a "better English?" 😂

wow that makes sense..... 😮
As a non-native english speaker, I always thought finna was slang for "finally" honestly
Seconding this, I thought Finna meant Finally.

I think “No one can stop me nor can deny” sounds better but it might be bad English bc I’m not native 😂

Can I someday finna find my time probably translates to can I someday finally find my time
