My lowest rated last year was Bloom by Delia S Dawson. I get why people liked it, but it did not work for me. I loved the premise and a lot of the descriptions. But there was so much more they could have done with it regarding the ending and I was endlessly frustrated with the writing. Like I said, pretty descriptions -- but after so many, there was a pointless repetitive and awkward summary or comment at the end of the paragraph. I could have gotten behind the MC making such absurd choices, but with the weird writing choices, it was more irritating However, the longer I sit on the book, the more I wonder if I need to reread it anticipating camp rather than a more serious book. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more then.
I’ve heard a lot of people say that about Bloom! It sounds so good and I still want to read it eventually, but yeah maybe going into it expecting camp would help you enjoy it more. I’ll keep that in mind when I get to it!
Okay thankfully the only book of these that is on my radar is she is a haunting. It just looked so gorgeous. And omg I couldn’t agree more with literally everything you said about #DRCL. I was so confused I was like am I just dumb? Haha
The cover is so beautiful, I’m really sad it didn’t work for me! I hope you like though whenever you get to it. I’m really glad it wasn’t just me with DRCL, I felt so dumb seeing others love it while I had zero idea what was going on 😂
