- On August, 8th, 2023, I chased an incredible tornado near Yuma, Colorado. On the ground for nearly 30 minutes, this erratic tornado takes me on a wild adventure, as this crazy twister takes on one of the most bizarre tornado tracks ever documented.

Thanks for an awesome video! Glad you got out safely! Rock on!
Thank you so much Proxima! That was an awesome chase! Wishing you a very happy holiday season!

So Freddy do you notify NWS or no?
@@FreddyMcKinneyYour so good at chasing tornados when not getting hurt? so amazing
I love how you included Ryan, Connor, Alex, and Mike. Hands down the best chase of the season, and truly the most spectacular views of this tornado. Great work, Freddy!
Love the shared victory ❤
Love how you put this together with everyone. Well done!
Thank you! They were a big part of the story that day so I had to include them somehow!
I hate myself.

This is hands down the best editing I've seen Freddy. Perfectly captures the abrupt transition from meteorological analysis to "HOLY CRAP TORNADO". You've outdone yourself.
was watching you live from start to finish for this chase… heart-stopping beauty and terror. extremely well captured!
Glad you were there with me! That was a wild chase
Truly!!! 😱
One of the best chasing videos this year. Keep up the insane work Freddy!!
You're another great channel @tornadotrx!!!
Your in a ef 4 or 5
hey it’s trx please upload
I love all the different video perspectives included (including mine)😆. Glad I was able to enjoy that day with you, Connor, Alex, and Mike. #Yuma2023
You guys did such an incredible job that day. Almost gave me a heart attack several times, but it was my favorite chase I've ever watched. Freddy put together a great video. I love all of you guys🙂🙃🙂🙃🫠
Thats a goldenado on yer name!
Thats a goldenado on yer name!
This was an awesome chase, definitely super scary too!
You guys need to invest in a Tesla Cyber Truck. Or at least shatter proof windows. Your life is on the line driving down the road with baseball sized hail and flying debris.
1:23 I love how whoever was driving that car ahead of you had the BALLS to just pull up right next to a developing tornado and stop like the thing might not fully form in a heartbeat at any moment. Clearly, fear is a foreign concept to them.
I wouldn't be afraid of something like that.
Colby got cooked 😭
I have one word about all of that:
What.
I would try to see if I could fly in it lol
@@notacanadianthecandian ... Bro really?
I remember this day, that was a crazy supercell for sure. Y'all did an incredible job chasing and filming the insanity of this tornado as it happened. Incredible video guys, thank y'all for what you do!
Hi
it's all fun and games until the tornado starts chasing you instead
@@mIrOkAKkO correct
Real
it gets scary when the tornado is rainwrapped and its almost getting dark. That's when your done for.
*-yep-*
*_-yep-_*
Those shots around 3:00 are just scary to look at - there's something apocalyptic about a tornado that lifts dust like that.
Looks like something straight out of Fury Road

That was the most insane chase I have witnessed. Especially, the 3 different types of tornado that made itself known from one storm. That was intense!!!! Felt like I was reliving that live stream again!!!! Awesome to see you, Ryan, Alex, Mike, and Connor were all there to capture that incredible footage!!!!
Thanks D Man!!
Boy did that bring back emotions from your live stream that evening. 😮
Thank you Freddy for making it possible for all of us to see what you are seeing. INCREDIBLE ‼️
Now to watch it like 7 more times 😊
Ya, this one is 100% a multiple replay scenario! Watching it live was INSANE
@@paigemaddi it was definitely insane! ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!! 😂
Slowly shifting into a tornado nut myself, and what a feast this was! Absolutely fantastic editing and fitting music choices, and the fact you did it with friends adds a nice charm to it. I didn’t know tornadoes could loop :]!
This is the first footage of a tornado this year that gave me chills. Just the detail and the close-up view of a once-in-a-lifetime tornado is crazy. The timelapse at 6:45 is just crazy as you can see how the tornado forms and starts to strengthen! Great video!
8:03 8:04
It was crazy catching this one live. If some of you guys haven't seen the streams, they are insane. 10/10 would recommend.
Thanks for sharing all these otherworldly experiences with us!
You've captured absolutely fantastic tornado footage!! The best I've seen this year.
Same! Definitely the best 😮🤯
Thank you so much! I’ve been very fortunate this year!

Tornado literally said "sike" to an entire town
twice i was there and they had the sirens twice
@@somethingbutnothing2163idk what’s the name but I think it’s a ef0 tornado(no damage done to houses buildings and others)
@@Iamorenyay nah it was an ef3 it hit a house south of town
9:06 gave me goosebumps, your staring at death itself.
Can you see the dead man walking at 9:59 ? There is a Vortex appearing to the right of the main Tornado and it looks like a giant taking a step forward
The legend Itself!
where, I cant see it
Unfortunately I don’t think thats a dead man walking tornado. It would need an ’arm’ appear as well, not to mention it doesn’t really make the walking motion but good guess!
bro was moon walking
Easily the best chase I've seen this season. Thank you for sharing this awesome footage with us!
Great job with this. I remember watching the thing unfold on your and other streams. This video really helps us understand the lifecycle of this unique tornado.
At around 5m20s it shows a satellite tornado, and then later the tornado becomes a wedge. I am wondering whether this type satellite tornado might be the same type as the "dead man walking" type (like the one in Jarrell TX 1997) which became an F5 tornado, or if the dynamics are different between this one and the one in Jarrell TX.
This footage is awesome!
You have a winning combination of amazing imagery, audio and visual explanations (I need them), and passion. Keep up the good work.
Who is horrified by tornados but only wants to watch them?

This was my favorite chase of the 2023 season. It scared me half to death and gave me a total adrenaline rush at the same time, yet I was streaming. The reason it is my favorite was because of the excitement you, Ryan, Alex, Mike, and Connor expressed. It was AMAZING. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. AWESOME remix Freddy! Heartstopping! You are legendary already! 🥰
Mine too! Thanks for the awesome comment Lisa!
I'm currently working towards my degree to ultimately secure my future as not only a storm chaser, but as a meteorologist. I like how you are a veteran storm chaser & know the limits of what social media seems to do now. Yuma tornado was a beautiful & stunning tornado. Highly unusual in its path & yet still powerful. An EF3.
Absolutely incredible footage. And great work on editing all this together into a video that's a blast to watch from beginning to end!
Connor: I hope Freddy's not in that!
Narrator: He was, in fact, in that
brother, you made the best production ive ever seen. this is cinematic!
Absolutely love what you do! Keep being you and keep chasing 🩷🩷
WHY IS IT SO BIG
It's true but it's crazy that he looks at allot of tornadoes
We don't know why
Hehehe…..
That’s what she said
Oh it’s beacuse it’s a big cloud that is forming in to a tornado
dude you’ve become a legendary tornado chaser! great catch man also what gear do you use to mount your camera near your shifter/dashboard area @0:49
Thanks man! It's a Manfrotto fluid head that's attached to a metal pole that comes up from the floorboard. Had to do some welding, but it was definitely worth it for what I do.
Wow, it's pretty rare to see up-close a tornado just starting. It's so undeveloped at that point it's no more than a dust devil.
Nice work Freddy. Hoping I can get out a lot this next year. Been way to busy with work the last few years.
Freddy... 😳 my heart was beating so fast watching this! First of all 2:40 and 3:00 are INSANE footage clips. Secondly, EXTREMELY well done video! I am thoroughly impressed! 🎉 you are awesome 😊❤
@MadsYT. miss you too!! 💙
Sorry for raising your heart rate so much. I’ll try to be more careful next time 😂

As a person who has never seen a tornado in my entire life I am very thankful that in Bulgaria there are no tornadoes bc this is HUGE.
Wow I'm criminally early for this video. Another amazing one Freddy! You've quickly become one of my go to chasers to watch. Your videography, editing, and story telling so amazing. Keep up the great work and live your dream brother!
6:26 -6:28 "look at the rope man look at the rope ..it's roping out it's roping out "🤣🤣🤣🤣
stormchasers and repeatedly shouting extremely obvious things, name a more iconic duo
your video actually answered something I was wondering a while back- what do the beginnings of a tornado look like up close. you've got some awesome footage of it. :)
Multi-Vortex tornado, Dust Devil, Dead Man Walking, Satellite tornado, Bowl tornado, Nocturnal tornado, Wedge tornado, ( Mother of All Tornados ) : Supercell
F4: Destructor of Houses, Towns or Villages. Can destroy over 30-100 houses. This level is on the god level of tornados.
F3: Almost strong, can destroy a village. I'd say a strong level.
F2: Probably a strong tornado cause, it'll probably destroy over 20-30 houses, so medium tornado level.
F1: Probably weak tornado or cause a bit of a damage so deadly weak tornado level
F0 : meh its a weak deadly tornado level
You forgot F5
Good Work!
Incredible day. Such an insane chase with you guys! Keep on crushing it man! 💪 #Yuma2023
I was so happy you were safe! #Gianthail/tornados
2:41 BRO THAT WAS GIANT
Thats what she said
Interwiewer: What do you enjoy doing?
Freddy McKinney:
I live in Colorado and in the area that I live in there are not tornado sirens. They tell us that we do not need them because tornadoes do not hit west of I-25. Yet we had one that did exactly that earlier in the year.
58.9k subs and producing content like this? You earned a new sub!
This was awesome footage and I was worried you’d get hit for a second towards the end!
That's some incredbile footage!!! Great job and please stay safe ♥These things are no joke.
Staring down a tornado coming right at you is insane, amazing and informative video!
Great footage and editing. I also appreciate the respectful dialogue and the lack of profanity, even when emotions are high; thank you for that. BTW, “vortex” is the singular, “vortices” is the plural, and “vorticie” is not a word.
"look at the rope out ..wowza "😂😂
9:49 the flower:
I'M A SURVIVOR...
I'M NOT GON GIVE UP..
tornadoes are one of the many things that amaze me more the more i learn about them
also DAYUM what was that intro music
I have studied tornado genesis for decades. Without going in to details, a current hypothesis of mine is that many tornados are are actually two are more stacked and embedded within each other. Not satellite tornadoes, but one or more emanating from different heights within the same parent updraft.
That’s what you captured at 09:56. That’s a high altitude deposition*/sublimation “engine” driven tube tornado descending down within a low altitude condensation “engine” driven wedge tornado.
Awesome and important that there.
*Gas straight to solid. Water vapor straight to ice.
Tornados are truly amazing and how big and small all the types of tornados are very amazing how much work and risk you guys take to share these tornados with us all we care about is how much effort risk and work for these videos thank you.
this is one of the best tornado videos I have ever watched. thanks for uploading!
Man, this is crazy! Especially the intro!
This is crazy, I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m surprised I haven’t heard more people talking about it. Keep it up!
The cloud at 2:55 is terrifying
I can not believe that storms are so strong like be safe out there storm chasers❤
At the end it is also multi vortex
I hope they understand how terribly things could go in a lick. Stay safe out there, love what you're doing though.
3:18 it looks like a dust devil
@@DanielCosta-zp6jl I made a joke about that to myself😂
less of a dust devil and more of a dust satan right there
it almost looks like that thing was orbitating around something else. CRAZY!!
4:51 Bro's window is screaming for help xD
I've now seen both you and Reed cover this tornado in great detail and it's such an incredible sight. I don't chase but I would have loved to see this in person..
1:33 more looks like a Dust Devil upclose
2:08 I knew it, or am I wrong?
2:15 Mesocyclone? Yeah I was right about the Dust Devil part
Yoo that frist tornado looked insane!!!! And it looked so cool! Btw this video is awesome!
Awesome stuff Freddy! You boys know how to get business done!
Most tornadoes last up to about 20 minutes, but to see this thing go through this many cycles and last this long is CRAZY. Good luck out there and I'm glad you're safe. 😄
Top tier! 🎉🎉
I would never go that close that is so scary like what if your car gets sucked in
4:35 it’s coming down, it’ssga hyuge 😂
Awesome video! I forgot the state of Colorado even gets tornadoes. I'm so use to them hitting Iowa, Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. I don't know how long Freddy's been doing these chases, but it's amazing how much he and his team survive these quests to view tornadoes.
YURRR this is gonnna be great
Im so glad ur okay!!
Im pretty sure it became a multi vortex at its wedge form- but i might be wrong.
0:02 gave me the chills 😖
Sureee 😅😅
@ 3:20 into the video....I don't know about anyone else BUT that's SUICIDE!!!
Why on earth do you feel the need to get THAT CLOSE??? Cmon! I nearly soiled myself just watchin how close you all came
Wow had to be a ton of work poured into this - Amazing! representation! of this monstrous, meandering, multi-cyclonic, dynamic and other big-sounding words kind of a meso. Plus there was glass and dirt.
let. us. go.
#Yuma2023
Mike I didn’t realize it was multi-cyclonic 😮! I can’t even imagine what it was like being there. I was worried watching you all. 👍
@@SuperDianne crazy from beginning to end, early stages - spin up o rama near/around the meso - and then seeing it consolidate within a massive dirt curtain. wild!
9:01 bro the storyline is so good, im lit shaking in my boots
What happens if I just… stop the tornado while it’s forming?
WYDM that’s literally impossible😂

I love how you stay calm when your storm chasing instead of ‘’OH MY GOODNESS ITS A TORNADO you just stay calm

Sweet video maybe one day I'll get to chase or see a Land Tornado (I have seen a waterspout come ashore and become a brief Tornado/Landspout) I live right by Lake Erie so I do get to see Waterspouts on Lake Erie Alot October 7th 2023 I caught a huge outbreak in Fairport Harbor Ohio I observed 55 Waterspout Funnel Clouds and 7 Mature Waterspouts that day
excellent!
Good chasing guys! Fantastic footage, bet the livestream was crazy to be watching at the time.
A tornado is gigantic nobody can survive that
I think anyone can survive that its easy
it was an ef3 it only hit one house and they sirvived under a stair well
4:44 i feel like that'd be an either EF2 or EF3, the size gives that away.
so cool
I’m watching this right after I watched the movie Twisters, it really makes me appreciate meteorologists and storm chasers a whole lot more. Thank you for what you’re doing and never give up man✊
