YES, this is exactly the subject I have been waiting for.... I recently asked for a "reasonable accomModation" for my husband who has both cognitive decline (Stage 4 Alz/we have a doctors letter) and severe neurological issues (he has a handicapt parking placard order by his physician) as well as for my multiple chemical sensitives. I used the exact phrase "reasonable accommodation.." I explained that My husband is having pain walking up and down the stairs for the back entrance to our condo unit so we are using the other (roadside) entrance where the chemicals are being used the most. I explained my specific physical reactions to the pesticides/fertilizers and weed killers (I get very ill and end up in bed) that we must walk through when we use the second entrance/exit. Unfortunately, our HOD condo board flatly denied my request. Our condo board told me that because our building was built 40 years ago they do not have to follow the Fair Housing Act at all. (I am assuming that they are referencing the fact of that our condo was built PRIOR to the latest Fair Housing Act update). Can this ACTUALLY be true? Do I have grounds for a Fair Housing Complaint?

Bureaucrat types and those who get power over others can be the most annoying and deaf to requests. Paperwork, MD notes for every little thing and arguing are tiresome. The worst ones act threatening about "ability to live independently" ! Then comes the corporate "legal department". Oh really ? My advice is , send a registered letter with a cc to local Legal Aid.
