Nice original looking truck. It has a 6 cylinder core support, so it was originally a 6 cylinder.

Beautiful truck! I’d put a satin clear coat on her to protect that patina.

Well done in keeping that dealer tag around. I know that particular dealer died a long time ago. My 1956 Chevy truck came from the area, I suspect from this dealership, but unfortunately the tailgate is long gone, so I have no remaining dealer tags.

Definitely not a V-8 truck. No “V” on door pillar ID tag and no “V” on hood emblem. I learnt that from Rick at Classic Truck Rescue where he gives a breakdown on differences between ‘55-‘59 Task Force Trucks.

The instruments panel looks like the v 8 emblem

Yes and THAT’s one of the biggest reasons I like Chevys more than GMC’s.
All Task Force Chevys had this instrument panel whether straight 6 or V8.

Awesome Truck brother. What intake is that? Is it an edelbrock? If so did you have to drill out the hole for the oil filler neck?

Guess the original drive train didn't survive, still nice truck, needs correct hood emblem and starter put back on floor.

I love that sound. Hey man. I just found your channel. I really like what you are doing. I have a 1954 Dodge Fargo that I am trying to restore. I subbed your channel so maybe we can help each other out. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍

Well it’s a 56 emblem on the front and it didn’t come with a V-8 come with the six-cylinder from what I see

huck boyd I'm pretty sure that's also a fake patina paint job on it

55's came with inline 6's and a 265ci V8. I own one of these trucks.

Nice truck, but not a "survivor" in the classic car sense. It was a 6 cylinder from the factory. The radiator position and fan shroud is a dead give away. Wrong emblems for a V8. The factory V8 had single exhaust. It has been modified. Still a very nice truck.

@@customcoffins Plus v8 had V8 emblems on both front fenders.

Engine appears to be Chevy small block. 350 perhaps., Very smooth running. Look like the floorboard starter has been replaced with ignition key start.very straight body with no rust. Perhaps has spent entire life in Texas. Cars usually don't rust here if stored properly. Has large back widow. You don't many of those. An extra cost option. Not many options back for pickups back then. Her nice example of what appears to be s true survivor truck.. As they say "They're only original once". The only exception is the engine. I would have saved the original six but agree a V8 is more desirable. Nothing wrong with that as long as the replacement is a Chevy small block. I hope the engine is the beloved tried and true 350. I'm A big fan of the 283 and 350.

The ignition switch is not on the dash. It is located on the floor just to the right of the gas pedal. Doubt this is a 19k mile truck
