Freddie, keep your eyes out for the Urban Rider (London) sales. I've no affiliation, but i picked up an open an full face Roeg helmet at enticing discounts. Of course, other sales outlets may be offering the same, so just a heads up.
Great video and as you mentioned with the heatwave across most of Europe the UK and Ireland would be more favourable but then in Ireland at the moment we have nothing but rain. Seen nothing like it for July. I too love less tech and powered bikes majority of the time but then when you do go to the other side for a portion of the time it is nice having that extra power on tap. Look forward to the rocket 3
Love the vid Freddie, nothing better than a long ride out and to a stunning part of this country, the flat out cafe looks a must to stop at in hove , the Harley does look a nice long haul bike , very neat, never had a Harley , riding a triumph 1200 scrambler and mostly had adventure bikes , maybe a test ride of the Harley might be on the cards , look forward to the next vid with the rocket , cheers 👍
So true- long days in the saddle are brilliant🤘🏼 I need to try and borrow a 1200 Scram- it’s been three years since I rode one and was the last press bike I borrowed before starting TH-cam.
As someone who owns 3 HDs, my view on the newer models is that they are plagued with electrical issues. I’ve got a 2015 FXDB. Looks great, lovely to ride. After 8000 miles throttle position sensor failed. 12000 miles crank position sensor failed. Now with 24000 miles it’s again off the road with an electrical issue - possibly needing a new BCU (£550 + labour). Yet my wife’s 2010 XL883 has minimal electrics and just keeps going. In UK we also suffer from poor dealership coverage, which means getting repairs done can be a waiting game, and independent garages (and many claim they won’t touch HD) are usually so booked up, it can be months of waiting. I do like HD, but I’ll stick with the older ones. Another favourite traveller crime is the laptop in a bag scam. They pull up beside you and show you a high quality laptop or similar in a bag. Even let you see it working and haggle a price. You’ll go to the cash point, handover the money, take the ‘laptop’ and they speed off. It’s only then you find you’ve paid hundreds of pounds for a bag containing a couple of bottles of water. 👍
I own the Roeg Chase in that great vintage white colour. Had a look at a lot of retro style helmets and personally feel that this one is the closest to that vintage Bell star from the 70s and 80s that looks so cool. Love the Roeg.
Excellent video! I’m curious, why did you leave the fairing off for this long ride? Primarily for aesthetics or have you found that the fairing and screen do not make a significant difference and thus, leave them off and enjoy the better look? Also, the bike really suits you!!
Great video Freddie It's easy to work the weather out in the uk, the kids start summer holidays and Europe has a heat wave What do we get rain rain rain ☔
I was feeling very sorry for families starting their holidays here in Cornwall. It rained every single second of the day yesterday and was genuinely cold.
Back in the late 1960s I lived in San Francisco and had a BSA Spitfire Hornet. My best friends had a Harley Sportster, and we used to ride together a lot. He would joke with me and say that I should always ride in front of him because English bikes vibrated in such a way that parts would fall off and he would have to stop and pick them up. I got back at him and said that I could always tell where he had parked because there would be a large pool of engine oil on the street or on the sidewalk.
Fuel range is something you don't think about until you begin to travel. Being able to ride all day ( 300 miles is our usual distance) at steady speeds is a godsend, especially in Southern or Eastern Europe where so much shuts on Sundays. Good watch. Safe, happy travels 👍
Vintage helmets? I remember wearing them in the 70s and 80s, awful things. Give me a modern day Shoei in a plain colour. Comfortable, quiet, great visor system and the best protection.
Absolutely love your content Freddie and the way you present. How do you manage to do these trips alone without Monika to look after you, I do worry sometimes. You won't want your bike back after having these two in the garage.

Great video again Freddie. It's good to see the biking community really thriving at the moment, because I remember 15 years or so ago I didn't used to see many other bikers around this area but that's all changed now.
Great trip, you folks live in a lovely part of the country. But my spidy-senses are tingling having watched this, and this weeks Tuesday’s at Dobbs’s. My guess is you’ll buy one of these Harleys but a few years old at a 30% discount to new! 👍
awesome my home village of chideock in west dorset @ 11:10
Your videos are so well presented and interesting I think Henry Cole should offer you a job on his Motor Bike show.
I ride, and I MUST get to England.
So true- long days in the saddle are brilliant🤘🏼
I need to try and borrow a 1200 Scram- it’s been three years since I rode one and was the last press bike I borrowed before starting TH-cam.
Your welcome to borrow mine as long as your insured ? I live in the Cotswolds and I’ve got the chrome edition 👍
Surely also, that’s the time you actually use the fairing on the front??
Love your videos. Wish the weather in Bath was a bit better at the moment. I am desperate for an adventure.
Still waiting to see a road trip with Monica in the 500!
“9:30 bright and early” 😂
Keep up the fantastic work, and I can't wait to see more of your exciting adventures on two wheels!
Thank you so much!
Great video Freddie
It's easy to work the weather out in the uk, the kids start summer holidays and Europe has a heat wave
What do we get rain rain rain ☔
I was feeling very sorry for families starting their holidays here in Cornwall. It rained every single second of the day yesterday and was genuinely cold.
Great effort for the daily mileage I think that bike was in its element.
Really cool bike. So much better than the royal enfields as an all round bike. We just need better weather in the uk.
Fuel range is something you don't think about until you begin to travel. Being able to ride all day ( 300 miles is our usual distance) at steady speeds is a godsend, especially in Southern or Eastern Europe where so much shuts on Sundays.
Good watch.
Safe, happy travels 👍
Agree. I swapped from a Tenere (getting on for 300 mile range) to an antique Goldwing and now have to stop around 175 miles. Annoying.
Those are some "70s" era looking helmets, definitely retro.
Vintage helmets? I remember wearing them in the 70s and 80s, awful things. Give me a modern day Shoei in a plain colour. Comfortable, quiet, great visor system and the best protection.
Hi Freddie , nice video of the English countryside, hope to see you making a video on the Indian countryside, also like your talks on Tuesday.
Absolutely love your content Freddie and the way you present. How do you manage to do these trips alone without Monika to look after you, I do worry sometimes. You won't want your bike back after having these two in the garage.
