Great video Erik; nice rig too looks like. About 15 years ago on the 28.325 USB frequency I made my most distant amateur radio contact with a station in New Zealand on 10 meter phone (USB) at 5 watts pep rf output using my Yaesu ft-840 hf rig. What was really cool was that kind of dx contact is rare, but to hear a portion of the last word I just transmitted was extremely rare. This is because I was hearing my own signal on the return trip all the way around the globe 🌎.
I have never experienced conditions like that since. That was operating at 5 watts pep rf output on 28.325 USB.
Anyway have fun with the new radio and great video as always. PS. I was using an I-max 2000 antenna with the ground radial kit at 55 feet to the coax feedline connector, running rg-213 coax cable. 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM 👍.

The K-PO DX-5000, Anytone AT-5555 PLUS, and CRT SS-6900(V), as shown in the video, are essentially the same model. These radios have been on the market for around 12 years, with minor firmware updates over time but no major changes to the core unit. This video, therefore, features a design that’s over a decade old!
Another noticeable detail is a well-known glitch present in many of those radios like these. Specifically, there’s a bug with the SSB clarifier, which tends to drift out of alignment. While most units show only minor deviation, this particular unit (20 degrees deviation to the left!) demonstrates a significant imbalance-a common technical flaw seen in many Chinese-made radios of this type. The 4-pin connector accepts any mic wired for Cobra/Uniden (while the hand mic is non-dynamic, I found the menu setting already on Dynamic. It sounds great using a Turner Super Sidekick desk mic). The volume control is like any typical Anytone board - there is no gradual change from zero volume to very low volume. It's more like going from zero to two. The unit I received would not keep/retain RB or NB/ANL (once activated) on every channel. It had to be set for each channel. Your radio seemed to work like it should though, in that regard. A big plus for ham ops: There is a jack in the back for a CW key, which isn't found on a QT60, QT60Pro, and other 10m radios (where you have to create a path thru the mic. I have noticed slight distortion on very strong SSB signals, but it's nothing that can't be solved by turning the RF gain back. Thanks for the video - enjoyed it!

Ok slightly off topic but still rocking a patriot 12’ beam pole that has worked well but I’d like better ears . In your opinion would a Maco M104C 4 Element Beam Antenna serve me well ? Like if I run it vertically I’m sure my locals could hear me and just maybe my ears would be better I mean I’m 50’ up there. I don’t know if I want to be rotating the thing so much but maybe in the summer?? I guess I’m just trying to figure out if the set up would be OK if not better than my patriot fiberglass two piece pole

Virtually any of the other antennas will help your signal and hearing over that Patriot antenna no offense intended just being honest... I would go to a really good 1/2 wave or 5/8 wave antenna before making the jump to a beam and rotor but thats me... Look into the Sirio antennas they give you a lot of bang for your buck as far as their 5/8 wave antennas... But Maco makes a great 5/8 Wave and a great 1/2 Wave (Maco BA-1) I have both currently running the BA-1 and the Retevis HS4 now... But I am getting ready to order a Sirio 4 element beam and a Sirio Monsoon 5/8 Wave or Blizzard 2700 5/8 wave antenna... I ran the Sirio Tornado 27 for a longtime I really liked it but I dropped it moving it and it bent it up really bad never could get my SWR right again for where I do most of my talking which is below channel 1...

The problem with the 10 meter radios is that they are being used on 11 meters running too much wattage walking on local 11 meter communications. And that's causing a lot of CB operators to shelf or even trash their radios. I know someone who actually believes because he has a 10 meter radio there would be no consequences for him running too much power on 11 meters he thinks he can not be triangulated tracked and traced with his radio. But oh what a surprise he will have should they pull up in his drive to enforce the FCC rules on him. Something needs to be done some sort of agreement reached somehow so that operators will keep their 10 meters away from a select reserved set of channels 15 or so channels so that locals who are abiding by the rules can communicate with other locals or at all at times more specifically without having to jump channel to channel to find a clear channel to continue communicating.

@@FarpointFarms Thanks for your reply. You have a good following here and bitchute. I was hoping maybe you could address the situation in one of your videos maybe offer a solution maybe power radios stay off of channels 7, 14, 17, 19, 21, 23, 27, 28, 29, 37, 39 and 40 only non powered radios use those channels.
So many are unaware how important a tool CB radio has become not only during crises but also for uncensored communications too. A lot of lives could have been spared had it not been for the censorship over the last 4 to 5 years for example. But as long as those that do and are abusing it that is causing so many to not take CB radio seriously and many have and are throwing their radios away due to unchecked abuses of the radio. I have read comments one just last night where someone did just that. Thanks again.

@@anthonygallo3576 I won't need to join them they themselves will eventually render the radio useless since no one can communicate on it not even themselves. And in addition to that I don't want to communicate with the whole world when it's keyed down I want to remain stealthy and I shouldn't be forced to break the rules because others choose to do it. And if the rules were followed locals could talk to other locals.
