Really cool that you're signing up and playing in top tier events and learning different grasses and conditions -- no matter what the outcome, all of this will make you a better player -- thanks for posting these! Cheers!
Like a couple of others here this video popped up in my feed and I gave it a whirl. Really great video - kudos to you for travelling alone to chase your dream. Must have been quite intimidating coming all the way here to a completely different style of golf course and going through your prep without much company. Swing looks pure, hope to see you on tour one day.
Surreal for me to watch. I went to Bristol Uni & live a 5 minute drive from Woking gc, though a Worplesdon man myself. Shame about missing the cut but hopefully you enjoyed the terrain & feel more prepared and confident going into your next event. Love your energy & looking forward to following your progress :)
Thank you! Probably cool to see your home is my destination. Had a great time and I’ve got plenty on my schedule, so definitely more coming soon. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Love these style of videos. As someone born in Bristol, you couldve picked some nicer places to go 😂 also, the 'well i made a 14' is so relatable, you work so hard to get yourself and your mind ready, but sometimes its just not your day
Hey Thomas, please do not see it as a failure but as part of the process of becoming a pro golf player. BTW....very nice seeing your journey.....and thanks for making us part of it......
Keep pushing mate, your breakthrough will be round the corner and if your ever over in the UK again, try and play some links golf. That’s the real challenge! Just keep going 💪🏻
Unlucky, and I dread to think what the trip cost you. It strikes me there should be an app, or Facebook group, where keen golfers, such as myself, could help out aspiring tour players such as yourself when you are playing events in their vicinity. I - and am sure many others - wouldn't think twice about hosting players such as yourself and helping out with local travel etc, simply as a gesture of friendliness and goodwill..
Honestly a great idea. Would be like having a host family except the tournament wouldn’t have to set it up. It was a lot of effort to get there and only play two rounds but you can’t win/qualify if you don’t play. I’ve got plenty more opportunities, and videos to follow about my journey, but definitely grateful that i get to try again. Trying to make friends along the way so that I’m not alone all the time.
Most pros lose money in pro golf. Almost everyone is coming from the upper middle class now or higher in sports like golf and tennis. The money is spent long before you are teeing it up in stuff like this. I can remember flying across the US to be first alternate at an AJGA and not get in. I would fly to qualifiers and shoot 78 and wonder why I am doing this. It all made sense in my next career. Having the will to compete is something most people don't have. It's quite insanity when you are rich.
13:34 I went to a Korn Ferry event in Raleigh this year and as I’m walking down the cart path on hole one I see a ball. It’s none of the players because they’re all in the fairway. I pick it up and it’s a prov1x tour ball. I kept that thing and practice with that on the putting green to this day lol one of my prized possessions 😂
@@thomaschristensengolf : I'm sure you're very grateful for their help. Anyway, we can tell you're doing your level best to make a success of it. You will at least be able to say you tried even if you don't. Good luck! Keep grinding!
Renting a car in the UK with no practice is asking for it. You can practice on a driving game like Forza Horizon though. Rules are drastically different there for parking and speed cameras everywhere. One ticket will cost 500 quid cause you well get owned by fees from the rental company. I am licensed on both sides of the road. I get nervous when switching sides every time. The trippiest is taking the ferry to France and then driving on the proper side, but with the wheel on the wrong side. Transport costs got me to buy a car when I lived in London. I spent about $7k a month on taxis. I had to move to get a place with a parking place, but was much cheaper after.
@@thomaschristensengolf You do need a car logistically, it's so expensive man without. Some agencies won't rent to American licenses because so many problems. If you can get a citizenship by descent anywhere in Europe, do it. Your license will be on treaty and even though it's not in the EU anymore, it will be valid everywhere. I got quoted over $5k on a $5k car (used cars were stupid cheap then 1/3 of US) for insurance. The problem is they didn't recognize my US driving history. So I got USAA for $180 a year comprehensive. Anywhere in Europe there's a US base you can get it. There's a lot of opportunities for golf pros in Europe versus the USA. Keep traveling and networking. It can lead cool places. Unfortunately, golf is a lot lonelier than other pursuits, but try to collab with the British channels. Lots of good players. Finally, while I'm offering advice, you get crappy lies everywhere in Europe, because the weather is crappy more. Hitting OB is death. Time for the punch stringer. Work on flight and running it up. I can't explain to you how easy it is to shoot 80 at Carnoustie just flushing it like an American on a dry day. You looked to be struggling a bit with that dirt sand that is common. That's something I never truly mastered, but messing with grinds and picking brains goes a long way. Those Brits can get it done in interesting ways around the green.
Yeah you’re right the guy I played with lives in the UK and he was playing the course differently than I was. It was cool to see and makes me think I’d try some different thing when I go back. Thanks for the info about the car stuff ill keep that in mind for next time
I played club at the University of Florida. We were consistently the top team, and I was the number 1 player in the country for a bit. I had some small D1 schools recruiting me, but I got into the Honors college at UF and decided that would be best for me. I come from a family of gator grads too so that played a part in it.
@@thomaschristensengolf Bro is the #1 club player in the country and now he thinks he can play on the DP tour!?! What!?
