    My local flight school is approved for both Part 61 and Part 141, which means their instructors are pretty laid back, but still teach from the 141 syllabus if that's what you want.

      We are looking at adding some 141 programs down the road. The owner and several of the instructors are military veterans that are looking to help other military members using the VA benefits/GI Bill. But we will be required to provide these programs under part 141, so stayed tuned for those!

      A lot of flight schools grow into 141 programs. I'm glad to hear they kept some of the laid back 61 stuff though. I cant stand the schools around me. All of them in uniform all the time. LOL

      Thanks for that Steve, we really do set an environment that promotes enjoyable and effective learning! Our costs are much lower than traditional flight schools thanks to our modern and efficient Remos GX training aircraft. The performance numbers are nearly identical to a Cessna 172, and because of the way we equip them we can provide training for ALL of the A-SEL certificates and ratings (including the Private Pilot, Instrument, and Commercial).

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on what you're doing. The degree side is sometimes a requirement of an airline. And it doesn't always have to be a aviation degree. Take a look at what you're looking to do in your aviation career and see if one is required to get hired on in places you would like to work. It's a doubly expensive endeavor over getting your ATP, especially if you dont need it.

      I don't. Theres not much to them. Find one that suits you and pay the fees to join. We have one that is outrageous around here, like 3K to join, hefty monthly dues, and rather high prices to fly the planes. Another one I'm aware of is like 750 to join, 250 a month, and the monthly dues translate to flight time. It's all about the structure and what works best.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part 61 is really one of two paths. Both paths allow you to do the exact same things. 141 is more structured and has their course approved by the FAA. Both have the same tests and ratings.

  • @bernardberben4852
    @bernardberben4852 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Does a part 61 flight school give you your commercial license? If so, should you expect to be hired by an employer directly after completing the course? How much cheaper is it compared to part 141? And do they offer helicopter courses?
    Sorry for all the questions, I'm just looking for some answers.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      141 and 61 give the same certificates and everyone takes the same tests. 141 is just more structured and approved by the FAA. Think of going to collage vs getting a degree online.
      You can work with a commercial license, but it depends on what you want to do. In order to work in the airlines you need an ATP, or airline transport pilot certificate, which takes 1500 hrs to get AFTER you become a commercial pilot.

    • @tylersepp9149
      @tylersepp9149 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Derek. At Fly Eagle Sport you can select the route that works best for you! You can pay as you go or you can pay upfront for our "All Inclusive" programs (checkout our website for more info) that takes out all the guess work and costs that you might not have been expecting. Our rates are fantastic for newer, advanced training aircraft! $120/hour for the airplane (includes fuel) and only $60/hour for instruction. It's also important to note that we use our Remos GX airplanes for instrument rating as well saving you TONs of money over older traditional training aircraft.

    • @ragwingmafia4404
      @ragwingmafia4404 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most schools you attend you pay buy the hour. You can buy block time and get a slight discount on the hourly rate but some schools that do that will be reluctant to refund your money if you decide to go elsewhere or discontinue training. If you would like to discuss it further I can help you get a better understanding of what to expect and what cost you're looking at

    • @tylersepp9149
      @tylersepp9149 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Derek- I almost forgot. Our "All Inclusive" program includes ALL of your tests, ground instruction, simulator time, headset, materials, etc. Remember- we don't quote based off of the FAA minimums like many places (it will always lead to customers getting hit with unexpected costs), our quotes are based on what it takes to get our clients completely finished. Or you can roll the dice and pay as you go with our low hourly rates. Either way, you'll still be way ahead of what you would otherwise pay at other schools on average.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If I had to do it all over again, it would be *Part 61 all the way!!* I would NEVER ever recommend part 141, EVEN if you're going into aviation for a career, like I decided to do MIDWAY through obtaining my certificates and training. Part 141 is too restrictive in more ways than one, and typically it is needlessly more expensive for virtually no extra benefit. The only supposed benefit is that it provides a "regimented career plan and keeps you on track". That is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. If you're not disciplined enough to do that yourself, then you shouldn't even be a career pilot, IMO 🙄
    As someone who believes in personal responsibility, I believe, if one meticulously researches everything (there are TH-cam videos for virtually everything under the sun these days, for cryin out loud 🙄 ), and makes a perfect game plan to go through their certificates and ratings, you could do it very effectively, in the same time at a Part 61 school or flying club, for a cost savings, over the typical Part 141 outfit.
    I must admit however, that I did mess up with my own advice I give above, during my Private Pilot training, in that, I took well over a year and around 120 hours to get my Private pilot certificate. But that had more to do with the fact that I had not decided to take up aviation _professionally,_ at that point and was working full time 40 to 50 hours a week in my primary career! But I did get my Instrument rating and commercial done in record time.
    Another thing that makes me a huge advocate for Part 61 schools, is that _most_ (not all), part 141 schools are very unfriendly and unhelpful to the "average joe individual" who walks off the street and wants to be helped. These "pilot mills" are so focused on churning out large numbers of pilots for max profit, that they almost always tend to give most of their attention to foreign students, who come en masse from various places (Asia, middle east etc.), to the detriment of the "local" student.
    I have had VERY bad experiences with this! And maybe that's where some of my hatred for these schools comes from. By sharp contrast, most Part 61 flight schools / flying clubs I inquired at, were very patient, took the time to explain everything to me (as a total noob, who knew nothing), the entire process, and showed they were genuinely interested in earning my business, not just a "dollar bill" that walked off the street!

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on the 172, they burn 8 Gallons per hour with 40 gallons usable fuel. Regulations require (day) 30 minutes of remaining fuel for a flight, but I land if I have less than an hours worth left. so 40-8 is 32, leaving me with 4 hours MAX flight time. If we're travling 105 knots ground speed, we can make it over 400 Miles in range.

As Fly with the Guys mentions, our Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) has a huge new benefit that allows our affordable Remos to be used all the way through your career-path training whereas before you would've had to rent the expensive "complex" airplane to meet the requirements for the commercial and CFI. But you're point is absolutely valid, thanks for asking!
