😊yes it is true, the quality of the paper makes a huge difference. I started with cheap low grade and I stopped mid of painting. Ordered a block of 140 and 300. What a pleasure. Many people can’t afford the extra but the results worth the price.

You are so right. I bought some amazing W&N paper in a block and it was so expensive I could hardly bring myself to use it. BUT after doing one painting I am hooked. What a difference the paper makes. Stays flat no matter what and was a dream to paint on. Glad I got this pad by mistake or I may never have tried it. Sometimes you REALLY do get what you pay for! Thanks for all the tips.

Hi Judy! You are so welcome, and yes, that's so true for paper - you do get what you pay for. Tricky to find the balance between good enough to be delightful to paint on but not so expensive you are afraid to 'waste' it. Happy painting! 🤗

im lazy.. theres no way you will see me stretch paper .. im also spontaneous so i just jump right in. This was interesting and full of information. I found myself nodding along going yes.. yep yep lol
I dont use super expensive anything, but i will say the better quality the paper, the better my painting experience is. Great info Kerrie x

I've used many brands and they all buckle a little different, I never stretch, just tape down and start painting, if it does buckle a hair dryer takes care of it.Great tips Kerrie. Happy Painting 😀

And of course the cheaper pulp papers are the worse, and anything under 140 lb.

Love the tips here Kerrie, I'm hopeless when I do most of my watercolour paintings, I just rip a sheet out and paint, lol. I am curious about the blocks of watercolour though as I think its a good idea to paint on it and then remove it for less buckle. I might just go find one now! 😀

Thanks, Bec. Rip out a sheet and paint sounds like a perfectly sound approach to me 😁 Just getting on with the painting is
is the important part, I reckon. Whatever works - that's my motto. Yes, blocks are pretty good!

I tried stretching, it didn't work for me. I just tape it to a board with thick masking tape and paint. I'm also trying 300 pound paper.

I also watch Anne Kerr, she suggests to paint both sides of paper.
