- The swell wasn't meant to come in this big. All the swell forecasters got it wrong, but we are not complaining, this is best case scenario! I've been wanting to mix it up and throw a new trick in Big Waves, what better time to try than when its bombing!

This is some of the most stunning drone footage I think I have ever seen. There are some insane perspective shot unlike I have witnessed. Simply gorgeous production and really really well put together.
Those 70mm lenses that DJI have started using are a much better perspective, excellent flying too.
Yeah the shoulder view really shows how frickin fast and kind of sketch it is. He makes it looks casual but the bumps and chatters reminded be of going too fast on mogulish snow

Might be my fav surfing vid of all time. The morning glow at sunrise is unbelievable, as is Kai’s effortless flips, 360s and cutbacks. Epic!!!
Great action and maneuvers on the waves. The first thing that came to mind while watching, was the VHS video entitled "Laird," which I got 20 years ago. That is still a classic, and it is great to see how you and your peers have advanced the sport. I look forward to your next episode.

It’s awesome to witness this Legend on TH-cam because it not only leaves our jaws dropping ( no pun intended) but could you think of what if we didn’t have all of this footage? We would be like yeah right, stop joking. It’s just a myth. We are all blessed to witness one of the greatest if not the best surfer of all time. Kai is in a class of his own.

Back in the 80s and early 90s me and my buddies would duck tape our feet to short boards and pull similar maneuvers at Jaws and mavs while being towed in on stand up skis. Wish we had cameras and iPhones on us back then.

Kai is one on a very short list that do flips on waves like these. I've only ever seen gim and Chumbo perform them on this wave, Mavs and Nazare. Give credit where it's due.

Yep, I agree... the 360's are awesome, pioneered and perfected by Kai, so awesome but ultimately not the real thrill. The head to toe fully committed shred attack is what makes me an even bigger fan. Seriously, this is one day of waves?? You go get it young man

I struggle to comprehend what I see from the man! Absolutely colossal mountains and he’s out there, on a short board, pulling tricks and carving like it’s a fun gentle beach break! Just insane! And properly spectacular!!!
Walked down with the kids to watch on Black Friday. We sat there on the rocks below the cliff edge through to mid afternoon. Was epic. Thanks to Kai and all the other guys n gals out there putting on these shows for us.
7:52 is a legit as legit snap off the lip, with a bit of a sneaky tail slide. It is absolutely mind-blowing seeing advancement of what is possible on big tow waves. Kai is the leader of the best big wave surfers atm and brings small wave ripping to massive waves. .

Kai you are the greatest all around surfer there is , huge fan favourite surf athlete period, in my opinion I’m not interested in see flips and 360 in big waves, the risk to reward I think is not there for the surfer, as a spectator I love seeing the big carves top to bottom, barrels, anyhow you are awesome and we want to see you surf when your the old guy on these massive waves

Lived on Maui for 25-years. Recall when Laird Hamilton and a few others 'pioneered' tow-in using a Zodiac. They changed it up, forever and now, watching you do 360s and flips on 30, 40 foot faces slapping those waves around like you owned them. Unreal. Good stuff, thanks.

I’m now and old and decrepit ex surfer and have been considering tow in as a euthanasia option. One of my kids has offered to drive the jet ski but unfortunately he would probably face some criminal liability.😂

Those waves looked like they had teeth and were trying to swallow him. I thought he got ate on one of those monsters at the end. My jaw dropped open when he emerged from the froth. Whoever named it Jaws, or why they did, was perfect. A huge people eater. Flying King Kai makes it look so easy.

You out there who have never fallen in love with surfing at this level need to know that it takes around fifteen years to build up to this "NO FEAR LEVEL" to ride the 30-foot-tall DRAGONS back with an offshore wind keeping your wave from hitting you in the back. Nice ride! From a 76-year-old Santa Monica/Malibu long time surfer of the 60's.

I mostly cant stand watching guys tow but kai is an exception. Mostly because hes towing frikn 80 foot peahi, waves well out of paddle range. And its a real wave with a crisp defined lip line, long bowling wall, multiple sections to beat and cavernous house size barrels! And hes not running for the shoulder crouched in a safety survival squat either hes flying up and down looking for ramps, doing full bottom turn/top turn combos like it was 4 foot rocky rights! The flips and spins are pretty ugly but thats just my un-solicited opinion about something that isnt any of my business.

So a lot of this footage is drone footage. How the hell do you keep drones working in this salt water environment???? I would expect the salt mist to corrode everything on a drone. Do you use some sort of conformal or nano coating on them???

I've, only used the stairs and never used a impact vest, and never used a tow jetski . And I need, to eventually catch up with U. I'm a scientist and a soul searcher, that's. Electric skateboarding at the moment. Waiting on nsw to bring the wave pool.
