All these were very common during the PS1 era. Still remember biying Einhander, In the Hunt, Raycrisis and Raiden Project for cheap because most PS1 owners were focused on FPS from the time.
I completely understand the fun of mindless fun that shmups offer. You just get it on and start shooting. And they're usually so short you can beat them over and over again if you have the skill. I don't tend to play them myself, but I am messing around killing enemies for their stuff in Cyberpunk right now. Obviously, it was a good time watching this 😀

What is your favorite shmup of all time?
Right now I think Gradius II arcade and Thunderforce III are tied for me
I need to mess with more Thunder Force
2 of them are available on PS4/PS5 and Nintendo Switch (RayStorm & RayCrisis, and In the Hunt).

I love the newer Raidens. Lol. But man o man they are tough
Parodius, Harmful Park, Cotton 100% are just a few Shumps that are better than most of the games listed.
