No, there was no over celebrations. But I think alot of people are continuing to see the narrative the media are trying to create, they've been proven to be badly wrong about Ireland so far this RWC and instead of accepting they are wrong they are now just trying to create a brand new narrative. What Ireland did celebration wise versus SA was no different to what they did against Tonga and Romania.
Barnesy is spot on - ott celebration from Ireland, doing a lap of honor; some players even had their kids with them. It was as if they'd won the whole thing - they've won nothing. Reminded me of France in 2007 when they beat the ABs in 1/4s, then lost to a poor England side in the 1/2s. They'd lost their intensity. Farrell has to get their feet back on the ground and re-focus for next match...
Agree. We still need to beat Scotland and New Zealand. I still remember beating Australia in the World Cup and going on to humiliation against Wales down in New Zealand. It really is way too early to get carried away.
The Boks walked around and thanked the crowd as well and they’d just lost the game. If Ireland lose a big game it will have nothing to do with player’s kids coming on the pitch.
Hardly a lap of honour! They did as they always do, walked around the pitch to thank their travelling fans...... just like SA did. As for kids on pitch, the team were facing some days off and many of their families had come to join them. These men have not seen their children for weeks and, in keeping with the familial ethos of the team, brought their children on pitch to join them. What is wrong with that?
What a load of tripe from Barnes. There’s a difference between celebrating a win on the pitch and your mindset going into the next game. You can do both. Farrell won’t be saying “you’ve won nothing” to these players. He won’t need to. They know. And as for an SA psychological advantage? They can have it. Hasn’t helped them the last 3 times. They should worry about getting past France before planning their final.
For once I find myself agreeing with Sturat Barnes! I'm a Springbok fan and I'm happy with that result, because I know it will get us into the right head space for the QF. And it will also give us that sense of revenge if we face Ireland again in the final... ala Twickenham v. the All Blacks (which was payback for Auckland). My biggest concern is France, because they've never done anything to make us mad... lol - so I hope they say or do something antagonistic before the game! Because Stuart is right, the Springboks look for a psychological edge in these small things - and Rassie is a master manipulator in this sense.
I'm not bragging here but I picked Ireland in the game simply because of the URC familiarity, so now I'm going to predict France to beat SA. Reason being the French fan domination and also of course the French team in general, I honestly believe the Irish fans caused SA to be a bit jittery and I'm also not really into Rassie's game management, I think it's overrated.
I do not have access to The Times however I would love to know if Stuart Barnes has chastised England's players e.g. Ben Earl for celebrating winning a scrum penalty in a game they were losing? I thought the Irish players acknowledged their win and celebrated the input of the crowd. Other teams do it and as long as it does not descend to taunting, it should not be subject to scrutiny :)
It's certainly helped yes as it's more exposure. But saying it's just because SA teams joined the URC is ridiculous. Ireland had beaten SA NZ and AUS already before the SA teams joined the URC?
Did Barnes not watch as the french celebrated their win over the AB, OPENING NIGHT great game great win and great celebrations. Watch as England celebrate and almost burst blood vessels “when the won the first SCRUM against Argentina “ 😂
I've not over-indulged in watching videos commenting on Ireland's performance, but enough that I'm getting very uncomfortable with the praise being heaped on us. I feel like the shy, awkward girl being told by all the popular girls that I will be the queen of the ball. Uuggh.
Anyone with half a brain knows it would have a different story if we had Pollard on the park and actually deployed our 7-1 gameplan as we did against the ABs. But all that is still coming, so if there is a re-match final their pool match celebration will make the Springboks victory taste so much sweeter. Go Bokke! 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Ireland played their final too early and celebrated as if they won the world cup. SA won France in the quarter finals but the celebrations were not nearly as over the top than the Irish winning against SA since they knew the job was far from done.
It’s rare that I agree with Barnes but I do on this one. I find the celebrating at winning scrum penalties, knock ons etc quite cringe and a bit distasteful. It also reflects Ireland’s mindset and still tells me there is a WC mental fragility there
Definitely sensing an anti Irish bias from Barnes and some other English pundits. They always have some proviso when Ireland win. Alternatively they go overboard with praise for the French and South Africans.
@@paulcostello1807 I'm not saying they are anti Irish just that they have a bias for the bigger more traditional rugby powers. They are probably one of the reasons why Ireland have not really been rated as a serious contender for this tournament, which in a way suits us fine.

The team should ride this wave of enthusiasm. If we see SA in the final, it won’t come down to whether or not the players celebrated last week. Such nonsense.
I’m done with the whole Rassie/ Genius stuff if Eddie jones or Steve borthwick went into a vital game in the only 1 hooker no recognised kicker we’d be calling them an idiot. Ireland played really poorly in some of the facets of their game against the South Africans and still came away with their win. Rather than being "sussed out" by South Africa I think you will see that if they meet again South Africa are in a whole world of trouble.

@@ciaranoconnor4027 you irish okes whine without understanding the game so addicted to the recognition you crave it is RWC we talking here no one has won 2023 yet cant win it before its happened
Let people have their view you such novices in the way you understand the game
Ireland may or may not win RWC and would like to see them in the final NH team there is good for rugby the point was beating SA in pool match and making it a big deal is not winning the cup.
We talking to playing style and unfolding of RWC wake up!
Barneys team celebrate when they get a knock on.
The nonsense is that they should not have been meeting at this point in a world final. The early seeding has made a mockery of this competition
It’s true. But maybe Rassie has a lot of ammo (clips) up his sleeve given how he deemed the refs call in the 19:16 game loss in France last year.
SA have never played France in Paris in a tournament game. Ireland have to do it every two years. That's what the celebrations were about I suspect.
SA lost 4 of the last 5 v Ireland. They had plenty to avenge as it was.
Classic rationalization; you’d have been a lot happier if SA had won and you’d be spouting lines about dominance and domination.
So celebrating a win isnt allowed now then !!? 🤔🤔
Barnes chastises England every chance he gets!😂 I'm told he considered himself Welsh.
Lol "only new zealand" please keep saying it, it's amazing. Top 3 now are the only teams that can win, SA, France and Ireland. So good. Keep it up
Bundle Aki said after the game we will probably meet SA again down the road. That can only happen in the final.
Bundee is a Kiwi. Couldn't make the ABs and went to Ireland and became a Star.😂 We are happy to have help improve Ireland . Haha
This is pathetic. England celebrates knock ons
Really weak from barnes.
Since 🇿🇦 joined the URC the northerns has stepped up matching some of your game day play on the other flip side NZ And AUS have fallen back 🍭
It's certainly helped yes as it's more exposure. But saying it's just because SA teams joined the URC is ridiculous. Ireland had beaten SA NZ and AUS already before the SA teams joined the URC?
What’s the point of winning if you cannot celebrate?
Can understand why they did it, but more of a message would have been to walk straight off to show they mean business and are not stopping here
Dont mind them keith
It also reflects Ireland’s mindset and still tells me there is a WC mental fragility there
Hopefully France knock the springboks out and it’s an Ireland France final - lot of assumptions like beating NZ but it’s a possibility
Played your final.
Please Ireland - don't do a Rory McIlroy/The Masters = Ireland Rugby /World Cup
Doesn't England celebrate when other teams get a knock on?
Definitely sensing an anti Irish bias from Barnes and some other English pundits. They always have some proviso when Ireland win. Alternatively they go overboard with praise for the French and South Africans.
Very true they have a love for the traditional powers that is reserved for Ireland
nah man Barnes loves the Irish to be fair
@@paulcostello1807Totally agree with you lad.
@@paulcostello1807 I'm not saying they are anti Irish just that they have a bias for the bigger more traditional rugby powers. They are probably one of the reasons why Ireland have not really been rated as a serious contender for this tournament, which in a way suits us fine.
@@neilmontgomery3470Ireland haven't been rated because they've done nothing to be rated at World Cup level. Wouldn't you rather be not given the credit and go far, rather than being hyped as an unstoppable machine yet going out at the quarters

Negative Charlies 😮😮🇿🇦
Nothing wrong with celebrating. I wonder why NZ already seems to have been written-off by everyone except RSA?
They haven't been. The Irish may celebrate a win but they're not stupid. They celebrate, they move on and then concentrate on the next big game. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But people thinking the Irish team think they've won or are getting ahead of themselves are sorely mistaken
Ireland celebrate to early like England celebrate the win against New Zealand in previous world cup and end up the lost in the final for celebrating to early. Just remember this was just a pool game and not a knockout game.
Where as England now celebrate every decision they get like they won the World Cup because that’s all they have.

Actually this is complete nonsense! And I love Barnes. But SA have been celebrating HARD forever. Every scrum and penalty, since they got let back in. 4 southern teams have a feckin dance before the match! This old school stuff has Oz getting the "man up" of their nightmares! And to top it off, this fun atmosphere is Farrell's foundations! Be yourself! You might just be a winner. Half of the Irish teams I loved were beaten by negativity, fear, and other old school nonsense that used to never work anyway
The team should ride this wave of enthusiasm. If we see SA in the final, it won’t come down to whether or not the players celebrated last week. Such nonsense.
Bitter English pundit. England are poundshop Boks atm.
I’m done with the whole Rassie/ Genius stuff if Eddie jones or Steve borthwick went into a vital game in the only 1 hooker no recognised kicker we’d be calling them an idiot. His traffic light system tells the whole world that my team lacks leadership and the ability to make decisions under pressure. Their 7 forwards were out played and out scored by our 5, why would we act like they have the upper hand psychologically. Honestly I thinks he’s started to believe his own hype and is now getting in the way of his teams success.
Outplayed and outscored you say by 5points 😂😂😂 what game were your watching… jumping the gun I see hey 😂

Correct. Everyone seems to conveniently forget that NZ won the rugby championship only 3 months ago, thumping SA along the way. Finished 35 20 with a last min SA consolation try...so take that out 35 13.
