This whole engine issue has really shown the value of Sea-tow....on a side note, Ms. Siren really does a great job with the video/audio mix. Heck maybe the best of the TH-cams that find there way to me. Getting towed from dock to dock might not be the most interesting content, but her video quality, voice over, and audio fill is really well done. It is a wonder how many people don't get that an audio mix...should not be maxed 24/7 and is best used as background dynamic to frame the video content. The production quality of this channel really is top notch.

Yeah, so we have a 1981 Aries designed by Thomas Gilmer. She is Fibreglass hull and deck, but has all the exact same bronze fittings and teak woodwork below, as yours. @ I know what your saying. But I believe siren does not have a grip on other conditions of the boat like blisters. Some yards are cheaper than being on the water.i know I have boat and would never have attempted what siren has done traveling and getting towed repeatedly with questionable issues not addressed.
Being towed all over the place wasn’t ideal. I needed to get the boat “home” to work on it, ran west from a hurricane, which thang God I did because everything behind me got hit HARD, so I made the right moves. Then I went through a very complicated and difficult breakup and moved back east. Driving to and from the boat because very expensive and I want to make sure it’s in a location that’s somewhat affordable to have on the hard, but also close enough I can work on it. Yes it’s a lot more expensive on the hard so I need to assess the engine on the water before anything. I’ll haul out only when ready. I’m not ready at all. I’ve taken a massive financial hit and I’m figuring out how all of this is getting done, but it will. There’s no major rush. The only real rush is the fact that my TH-cam viewers want everything done yesterday when they really don’t know how much I’m dealing with in my actual life. I got extremely sick a month ago because I ran myself down, and now I’m sick again, same crap, right after doing this tow. It’s all exhausting and I’m figuring a lot out right now. I’m well aware of what the boat needs and the price of it, but I also know if I haul out now, I’m not ready to tackle those jobs or the cost of it all so it’s wise to be in a slip just doing what I can for a mine. Yall have some patience please!!!

How do I find a sailboat to live on, update and convert to off-grid for two single guys who enjoy comfort, BBQing and smoking. Lots of solar and Lithium. Thoughts?
For starters, finding a marina that allows Live-aboards is very difficult - will you even be allowed to do so if you find a decent boat? So before you buy a boat make sure you have a place to keep it that allows you to live there too. And marinas will require insurance, which is hard to find for older boats (impossible for wood boats), so explore insurance companies first to find out what they are willing to insure. For the boat itself, two guys need at least a 36 foot boat and a 40' boat would be better. You will need a lot of $$$$ - the cheaper the boat you buy - the more money it will cost to upgrade it. DOUBLING the purchase price is a rough estimate of total cost, so if you buy a $40K boat, it will cost another $40K to upgrade it - if you are lucky. Rebuilding a boat is time consuming and very expensive, so it might well cost a lot more. And stay away from "Free boats" altogether - there are reasons boats are free. Solar is helpful but oversold and will never supply you enough electricity due to clouds, declination of the sun, so plan on the shortcomings - boats are always anchored near us running their Honda generators in the cockpits (us too). Good luck guys.
