    Nick got it exactly, if you couldn't grab hair, then every WR and RB could just grow their hair out super long so that you can't grab them from behind. It would put defense at a disadvantage

    • @amicooke1790
      @amicooke1790 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Then they need rules on hair length, because a hair yank is no less dangerous than a horse collar (especially given that the hair is often yanked from the collar area), which IS against the rules.

      @plaid11 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@amicooke1790it really comes down to, if you don’t want your hair used to tackle you, make it so it can’t. When you start putting in rules for lengths, that’s another thing where they have to start measuring and potentially fine players. People are already tired of all the rules and penalties that are in place. It just needs to be self governing. You want long hair hanging out so others can grab it, you deal with what happens. Ricky Williams eventually made it so it wasn’t an issue and no rules were put in place. It is a safety issue but notice how it’s not really an issue. That’s something they can police themselves on

    "According to the CBA, money collected from fines does not go to the NFL, but is instead donated to charities such as the Gene Upshaw Player Assistance Trust" So it's not too bad when they get fined. Plus they get paid a shed load lol.

      Yeah it all goes towards alumni benefit programs in most major sports in the us, that’s part of the benefit of being unionized. The nhl does the same thing

    With the asthma thing, if they have a prescription they can submit that to the league and they will make exceptions case-by-case. It's not an outright ban on inhalers.

      Right, I assume he didn’t go through the proper process ahead of time. Reminds me of Chris Davis for the Orioles. He was taking prescription ADHD medication with MLB’s approval but forgot to resubmit the forms or something one year, then tested positive and was suspended.

    You can't haze anymore. You can make the rookies sing at a team dinner but that's about it.

    The hilarious part about the Banadana ban is that it didn't last long once the owners found out how lucrative it actually was.

    A cease and desist letter is not legally binding, although it is a formal step that may be followed by a lawsuit if the recipient ignores it.

    11:50, Rookie Hazing is just a carry-over from college football (and probably high schools in Texas etc), where freshmen go through it. In my college it was on the last day of practice before the first game, and it was called "Tape Day" - the upperclassmen were sent to the locker rooms 20-30 minuets early, then the freshmen were sent in through two lines of players, screaming at us and chanting, wearing masks and weird outfits, and we had to try and shower and change clothes as they were grabbed and taped to benches, the goal posts, chairs etc, as groups of players used athletic tape to practice their bondage torture on us, drenching players with ice water, shaving cream, ketchup, mustard... The best players got it the worst! I was lucky, just a practice cog. The one player on our freshman team who made it into the NFL, where he played 3 years, before injuries stopped him, definitely got it the worst! After the upperclassmen had showered and dressed, the coaches came around and cut us free! Good times! LOL! Great memories with a lot of good guys... and a few A-Holes...

    The celebration bans happened in the 80s as well. Washington's receivers would get in a circle, jump and high five when they scored a TD. One game when they were beating the Cowboys, some of the Cowboys' players took exception to it.
    They once had a crowd noise rule in the 80s. It would cost the Defensive team a timeout if the crowd got too loud for too long. Fortunately they got rid of it.
    Yeah, the Saints vs Rams game was a result of a missed call. They should have called defensive pass interference. Saints' ball at the spot of the foul, automatic first down.
    Betting on games is an even bigger no-no in Major League Baseball. If you bet on a game where you have a duty to perform, and you get caught, you're banned for life.

    It is definitely fair to exclude anyone not medically or physically capable of playing without banned substances...no matter why they need it.

    The big corporations screwing the little guy is one I’m all too well aware of. My little, cooperatively owned cafe would get cease & desist letters & harassing phone calls from the big record companies, cause we would play music (off our phones or the computer) while we worked. They wanted us to pay licensing fees, as we were using it as a part of our business (though most of the music we played probably drove away more business than it brought in). I always told em to get stuffed, but I believe we finally ended up giving them a certain amount of money a month😞

    25:00 The rule refers to "A Palpably Unfair Act" for any play so obvious unfair there is no rule for it. In remedy, the officials can do just about anything they see fit, up to and including awarding points. A famous application was when a runner had gotten free and was heading down the sideline when an opponent jumped off the bench onto the field and tackled him. This rule was invoked and the officials awarded the runner a touchdown.

    It's a big thing for beer companies to win the title of Official Beer Sponsor of the NFL. They get to speak the words Super Bowl in their commercials and local advertising in bars and pubs. If that church had gotten one of the official NFL sponsors to sponsor their party, they wouldn't have been violating the rule.

    There are many, many alternatives commonly used vs steroids to treat asthma though I'm personally not sure how effective they are.
    Players can now gamble, but not on football and not while on the NFL properties (among a few other conditions).
    The phrase Super Bowl is simply protected by copyright/Trademark laws. You can't use it to make money and a few other conditions, but you can use it in other ways. Same as UPS, FEDEX, McDonalds, Big Mac, etc.
    No. A ref cannot award a team points by fiat. Teams have to earn their points by scoring those points. Refs can only referee the game, enforce thew rules, and determine if legal scoring plays are legit.

    I do find it ironic that there is uniform rules these days considering the cut of today’s uniform is awful. Between the Bermuda shorts pants now cut above the knees, and the diaper elastic short short sleeves, they look ridiculous when you compare them to the 20th Century uniforms

    NFL has weeks where players can promote their charities. Also, breast cancer awareness month is recognized by NFL in very conspicuous ways on the field, uniforms, coaches shirts, etc. I think this is a little dated.

    I was hoping for a video about rules involving, you know, the actual game of football. stuff like dropkicking field goals and the Fair Catch Kick that come up maybe once a decade tops.
    The hair rule? Every American football fan knows that one. It was a compromise between players wanting long hair and owners wanting them to cut it. Which considering the owners' lack of willingness to compromise at all on almost anything without a strike forcing their hand, the players took.

    Don't know who recommended this to you, but it appears the vid you are reacting to seems to be weird click-bait. It is a computer-generated, AI voice that states things right away that are not true and cannot even put together a proper sentence.

    23:33 Christians here have a terrible habit of thinking they're above intellectual property laws. This party was charging admission, making it a big, fat legal no-no.
