Adam Gilchrist played a very good innings in the final and made the match one sided. Even if it had not rained, the match would have been complete, Australia would have still won the match.Also Sangakkara and Jayasuriya made a very good partnership.

Rain always helps the batting side as fielding becomes difficult, ball comes better on the bat.
@@Rikka_V1 duckward Luis. Because of the rain the overs were getting reduced and the target needed was changing. Australia didn't have that problem because they opened the batting. Sri Lanka constantly had to change their batting speed because of the duckward luis tempting jayasuriya and sangakkara to play those shots. Before Sanga got out they were ahead of the run rate.

Dream era for srilankan cricket
The problem for other teams always was that Australia were simply playing a game a level above others and were at their best in the finals. 359 was an unimaginable score in 2003 and even here they would have scored close to 400 if they played 50 overs. Such a high target with the added pressure of a WC final broke the spirit of India in 2003 and Sri Lanka in 2007. It's a very heartbreaking for both the teams but at the same time, you just have to tip your hat off to Australia for their ruthless and dominant display.

The overs were reduced to 36 ..and in the over 33 it was declared in big screen that aus had won..they started celebrating but then umpire came and given 2 options either both team can play in darkness( I don't why the fucc west indies got selected for wc.bruh they didn't even have floodlights ) or to come next day to play remaining overs...as both teams knew nothing gonna change next day ..so they decided to play that day and Ricky told they won't use any fast bowler

Gilchrist played amazingly. It was a shame that rain ruined the SL inning but thats life. Anyways its amazing how Aus vs SL in WC finals is 1:1. Not many teams can say the same against Aus which is remarkable.
