Awesome. Finally a real Graphic Designer showing how Corel is really used by professionals. Love the video! Been using Corel since 1990s along with Adobe.

CorelDRAW is definitely a great piece of software. However I would like to put emphasis on the brush performance of Corel PP. It lags with bigger sizes. I have to resort to Gimp for the same purpose. Gimp works butter smooth with the same sizes that PP struggles with. Please look into the matter.

@@T1kr3b3u They used to offer upgrades around $200, but no longer. I tended to upgrade every other version. 8, 10, 12, X5, 2018. I'm working with Affinity software more these days, which works for online graphics. Not as good with print material. However, they provide free upgrades and are working to improve the print features.

So don't upgrade then. For me, it's worth $200 once a year to have upgrades not only of CorelDraw itself, but have all the import filters handling the latest version of anything I need to import. It's not like this costs the ridiculous amount that Adobe wants for its suite. And besides, I've have made at least $160k using Corel products, I have no problem justifying giving some of that back for the great software.

It always has been orders of magnitude easier to use for creating new graphics. There's a reason why so many businesses like sign makers and shirt printers use it instead of Illustrator. OTOH, since Illustrator reads in Postscript natively, CorelDraw cannot compete with it in doing things like fixing errors at a printshop in client-submitted print files. Corel has to import the files into its format and then print them out again, running a risk of causing artifacts, while Illustrator can fix the problem without any risk of changing anything else. But this capability in Illustrator comes at a huge cost to creating graphics from scratch because the user has to understand rather obscure details such as which direction a circle is drawn, while CorelDraw doesn't need bother you with this at all. Adobe has never been good with designing elegant interfaces, while CorelDraw 1.0 was so much better than Illustrator. On a test graphic years ago, PC magazine reported that they had to give up creating their design in Illustrator, because things that took three mouse clicks in CorelDraw took 50+ clicks in Illustrator.

they invented most of those features in many cases, for example putting controls in objects. they debuted with this in 1989 and no one else had it for a long time. Adobe copied it finally after about five years. also interactive on screen tools, you saw them first in corel. Also context sensitive tool like the majic eraser were invented at Xara. plenty more stuff I could write about if I wanted.

@@jimhagler3716 All you said is true, but it would be more appropriate in year 2000. We are on 2021, and you know at this moment Corel copies features from other softwares with one or two years of delay.

@@ndc-01 So has everybody else my friend. affinity is an illustrator clone but one that has left illustrator in their dust in a great many ways. yet even though this is true they too have copied many features of illustrator and a good number of features from Corel. There are abilities that draw has that no one has ever copied and vice versa. the problem with illustrator goes way back after all It was freehand that held 95% of the mac market share for 30 years. this was simply because illustrator was so clutzy and very hard to understand and it just works weirdly. after thirty five years as a designer I have worked on both platforms and with every kind of software you've ever seen and probably a bunch of stuff you wouln't remember unless your as old as i am. one thing I have learned is that the less software I require to get the job done the better it is for me. illustator has copied many features from corel over the years and always years later so It goes both ways. I no longer pay the crazy prices for mac's my 27 in. Imac sits in the floor awaiting another video card. apple replaced the display and the video card before my apple care stopped but then the CD quit and now the video card again. neanwhile the 13 year old dell I have still runs like the day I bought it . my new 8930 continues to work better than any thing I have ever used. launches PS in six seconds flat. I still use lots of software but I get father faster in draw and it's just so much easier to use, still you need to really know it to know what it can and can't do. there really is no end all and be all. even PS began life as Aldus photostyler before it Adobe.

@@jimhagler3716 I was a loyal user of Corel. I started to use it around 2003-4. I had about 6-7 years of intense use of Corel. But one day I get disapointed with corel for some issues: lack of stability and ramdom shutdowns of the app, problems with color gradients (looks like crap), and problems with color in the printing. I just tried Illustrator and was so hard to use at the beggining. I agree Corel is more friendly to the user, but I was looking for a better looking in my works and Illustrator gave me that. In a few months I completely forgot Corel, and never regret. Now I´m so impressed with Affinity, I love it. I bought all the softwares from Serif, but still using adobe for pro works. I need some special tools in affinity designer to make the final migration (blend tool for example, or ability to save custom paletts setup), and some others. I agree with you that if a simpler software give you same result, then that´s it. Thing is when I see Corel promotional videos this days, it´s like watching a movie from the past. I see they have improved the software, but it´s not enough to make me want to use it.
Think in this, If you were a young designer ready to start your career or bussines, what software will you get? You have a cheap, new, and wonderfull affinity designer, then you have the industry Pro standar illustrator, and then you have Corel. Corel is not as cheap as affinity, and doesn´t give you better results than Illustrator. I don´t know, but I would´t like to be in that sandwich. Jim, I think we have more in common that it seems. See you.
