Yep, this happened to me. I liked this guy a lot but we barely ever talked. We would stare at each other time to time during classes but that was it. We never talked and I spent most of years in high school being so awkward around him. For example, in sports, I would always accidentally hit him in the head with a ball or something dumb. And in the cafeteria, I was staring at him as I was walking and boom. I tripped over a bag and my lunch spilled everywhere and the plate broke so, yay. And he was watching me, AWKWARD! But then my 17th birthday was coming up. And one of the best days of my life was when he came to my house at 2am on Saturday. (Luckily no one was home, my parents were both at work as they work night shifts. And my siblings were asleep so they barely heard a thing.) And guess what? He was holding a puppy and it had a cute red bow and he gave it to me. I started crying! (Of happiness obviously.) There was a note on the collar so I read it and it said, "I like you." And we smiled at each other and he kissed me. BEST BIRTHDAY EVER. We are currently still together, both 19. :)
