My family was always pretty reserved with each other. Years ago, I gave my brother for his birthday a small painting I had done and wrote a letter telling him how much I admired him. I went into detail about how he inspired me as a man, a father, an artist, and a human being. He died 5 months later, and I can’t tell you how much it still means to me that I told him all that when I did.
There are many good gifts what I have had. One Christmas my friend gave me CD full of music made by herself. She had been writing the lyrics and made melodys and she also sang. Her husband played different instruments. My son was about 6 year old and he wanted to make breakfast for me. I like porridge so he made porridge for me as a gift. He just didn't know measurements and there were plenty of porridge. We could not eat all of it. My son said that we could invite our neighbors to eat. 😂
Home made spice-mixes (from vegetable I grow in my garden) or seeds, honey from local beekeeper - my friend for my parents, wallnuts or whatever my dad makes from wood (always a practical thing) from my parents. Dry mashrooms or wool socks for my husband made by his mother. Those are the best gifts.
Local honey is a wonderful gift! Especially for those who suffer from hayfever as it helps to minimise symptoms. My dear old friend Joyce (RIP) used to give me jars of honey, propolis and wax/candles 💗🕯Some of my favourite gifts ever!!
I cared for my handicapped mother for 16 years. Even before this, however, I learned I was a breach baby and she was in labor for two days! I thought, MY (birth) day? What have I done to deserve special treatment on this day? Nothing. It is not really my day, it is her day! ... So, on every year on my birthday, starting years before her care, I would take her to dinner at her favorite restaurant, buy her a gift and her favorite flower, red roses, and tell her "Thank You for My Life". If anyone has an aging parent, this is the best gift a parent will absolutely love! 🌳
The best gift I have ever had is time with my family, nothing beats that. Spending time together and enjoying it as good as it gets. My most precious gifts are the cards my children made when they were little. I love those, and we have fun looking back at them.
We're new in Sweden, but indeed am giving my partner hand-knitted socks and my daughter a hand-knitted scarf 😊🎄 First time I've knitted socks (so proud of myself🫣)
Seve, thanks for the thoughtful list! If you have the right friends for this, receiving an essay on a topic your friend has spent a lot of time thinking about would be really interesting. Especially if it's on something you discuss a lot with them. Topics like minimalism, or a well balanced life for example! Having a written well thought out piece would probably make for great conversation with your friend afterwards over some drinks or time outside together. A gift that keeps giving!
I'm bookmarking this video because these are great ideas! I usually go for gifting an experience/outing or second hand stuff from the persons wish list.
Hand cream with wonderful and relaxing scents, best gift ever and even more because it is from a local small bussines that sell on line in marketplace. I keep buying from that small store for my christmas presents. 😊
I especially like your first suggestion, Seve: the handwritten letter. I’d love to receive that. This year I have planted favourite succulents and unusual flowering plants in simple pots to give (we live in the Southern hemisphere, so it is growing season). I hope to decorate each with a painted pebble. I have also made a Red Onion Marmalade batch or three… try it, it’s delicious!
A good idea is to make cookies together build together gingerbread houses and decorate them. You can construct very funny houses create own teas ( fruit teas from apple peels) bake bread invite people for a )dinner. They can before select the country ( f. ex. Island or Kirgisien
Hey Seve--happy holidays to you and your circle!! Out of curiosity, in the high-end category, I don't suppose anyone there would like to give me the gift of citizenship in Finland, eh?? Or even a week in some nice B&B??? Ha ha. In this crazy world of me-me-me and how much bling or pizzazz something has, your list of thoughtful, caring suggestions is heart-warming. Thank you.
This brings a smile to my face because minimalism and minimalist gift ideas sounds like an oxymoron but I understand what you are trying to do. This being Finland, I am curious why you do not mention going to the sauna as a gift idea. Merry Christmas!
10/10 in all categories the escapes can be hard if it’s just two people depending on the venue and the theme some places even require 4+ but there great
I let my state park parking pass lapse and asked for a Parks & Recs gift card so I can renew. Gift cards can be really meaningful if more niche like this that acknowledge and support the recipient's values. I loved the suggestion of nice coffee or tea! Good suggestions!
With my husband we gave ourselves an air purifier. 😊 Otherwise we don't give presents to each other, just for our children and this year we don't exchange presents with my relatives. On my husband side a small circle of people get personalised yearly calendars with our childrens' photos because they really love that. And that's it!
My family stopped giving anything but consumables years ago. We get together, share the food, drink and each other’s company. No expensive gifts that no one wants or needs no inexpensive gifts that if they really wanted they would have bought it for themselves. I think we have finally figured it out. But I like your ideas too.
How about a good book for introducing minimalism for the not jet minimalist person. Would you recommend a good book, preferably in Finnish as my wife is Finnish.
Hand made soaps are wonderful but you need to be careful who you gift them to. I remember a Christmas long ago where our grandmother gave my older sister, she was 13 at the time, hand made soap. My sister was insulted. She commented: Is Grandma telling me I stink?
What's the best gift you've ever received or given? 🎁😊

We've got a family photoshoot and I loved it!

A trip to Prague with my parents. From me, for them. My dad is quite old already and I want(ed) to make good memories with him and my mom.

I'm a keen beekeeper, living in north Wales, UK. I give jars of my honey as Christmas presents. Everybody loves the honey.🐝🐝

Please stay safe in this storm coming! And your dear bees! May God protect you all!
i’m jealous, I love honey!! 😋
Wow; I wish you were my friend!
What a perfect gift idea 🥰

Love that! ❤❤
I love this. So true.
Food is always a wonderful gift to give/receive. Ever since I became a minimalist, I've been receiving my favorite treats every Christmas. I love it!

Wonderful! 🥰 I am sure they'll like them :)
A great list of minimalist gifts, best I’ve ever seen.
Thank you! 😊
Almost 50k subs! Growing FAST!!! Keep it up, Seve!
Thanks, Austin! Will do! 🙌
This gift list is a gift! Thank you, Seve, and wishing you a happy christmas! 🎄✨
Seve, thanks for the thoughtful list!

Love these ideas! Going to make some homemade granola for people this year 😋
Thank you Seve for great list of lovely gifts❤
Thanks for watching and hope you got some inspiration! Happy holidays ❄️🥰
This is a very helpful and thoughtful list. Thank you, Seve.
Glad it was helpful! 😊🙌

Secrid wallets are great! Small and durable

That's great! The calendar is a good one, especially if it's personalized like that 😊
Home-made gifts Seve! This year people are getting chicken and bacon pies and or milktarts!

Kiitos vinkeistä😊
I've been making ornaments out of recycled greeting cards, and my mom recognized a card her mom gave my dad.
😊😊😊

Haha yeah I think that's a gift that suits adults better 😄
share homemade cookies or cakes with someone you love.
That's lovely! 😊
