So they never mentioned anything else (lol). There was this breakfast & Lunch place on Bloomfield Ave we use to go to as well. I forget the name, but it only opened from 5am - 2:00pm. It was very small, stayed packed and the breakfast was pretty good.

I like how this video started with a bit of a street vibe totally fit for Newark on the outside, but in the restaurant it went into that soft chill relaxing vibe when the food was being made. Just a nice little journey through out. This video is JL firing on all cylinders!

I am from Newark born and raised. I was a Newark Public Schools Teacher and First started substitute teaching at Abington Avenue School in the same area up the street from Dickey Dee's. I used to buy their Italian hot dogs which are the best. I now live in Surprise, Arizona and miss Dickie Dee's hot dogs. I hope they open one here in Surprise, AZ. I had my daughter to ask well known food sampler and influencer to stop by and sample the food especially the hot dogs. I was only 2 years old in 1958 when this place was established so it seems to me like this institution has been around forever. Love that they kept the old school look both inside and out. Worth a try for sure.

I grew up in Newark, use to go to a spot on branford Place when I was a teenager. Always ordered the dbl dog to go and would go to the movies. I haven't eaten meat in fifty years but watching made my mouth water. BTW my mom's house is six blocks away on 6th Avenue.

Great Video! The bread is called "Pizza Bread" the double dog is put on 1/2 pizza and the single on a 1/4 pitz. The come from Calandra'a Bakery next to Dickie Dee's. What makes the Newark and New York City Bakery Breads so exceptional is the water. Both have upstate ressivors the supply pristine water.

NJ Pizza bread is totally legit. A cheesesteak made Wit that bread is next level. Steaks Unlimited in Seaside Heights uses this types of bread. I’ve never seen it further south than that.

In Elizabeth at Tommy’s famous hotdogs next to Jerry’s famous hotdogs they make combos with fresh Italian sausage/beef hotdogs and of course potatoes and onions and green peppers. I truly enjoyed this video

Been to Dicky Dees a ton when I worked in Newark. I always preferred Jimmy Buffs. They slice their potatoes instead of cubes. A bit greasier but oh so good

Been to Dicky Dees a ton when I worked in Newark. I always preferred Jimmy Buffs. They slice their potatoes instead of cubes. A bit greasier but oh so good
