I personally would rather get a grand Cherokee Mk1 to mk3. Specially with the Mercedes diesel.
Way more luxurious inside than this one, and they also have the hatchet rear window, while this one doesn't
The best thing about the Patriot is the boot space. But if I want to priorize that I would choose a Discovery 3 myself

I agree! My first brand new vehicle was a 1995 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 with the off-road package. It was boxy, very bare bones with no options beyond a cassette player 😂 and sliding rear window, and no power locks or windows. But I loved that truck, and had no problems. My parents had a ‘94 Jeep Cherokee that was very similar in terms of being bare bones. Neither fancy, but VERY capable!

@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess If you're buying a Grand Cherokee specifically for "luxury," then you're everything that's wrong with the typical Jeep buyer of today. A Jeep should be the opposite of luxurious, and if I wanted a Mercedes diesel, I'd buy a shitty Freightliner (if you can find one outfitted with a Mercedes diesel that is still running after 4 years; good luck on that.)
Jeeps should be rugged, sparse, underpowered, manual transmission, small displacement gasoline engine, 4WD, ugly bricks meant to do what no other vehicle can do. Grand Cherokees are engineered to go to the mall and Starbucks and make the frail soccer moms who drive them feel safe whilst doing so.

I had a 2014 Kia Sorento SX V6 and my engine blew up with almost 144,000 miles. For about 2 1/2 years it would burn through 4 quarts of oil in about 1500 miles. I found a 2015 Jeep Patriot with 31,500 miles in October 2021. Although I never even thought about ever owning a Patriot, the price was right. I am really happy with it. We had a couple challenging driving days this winter and it went through it like it was nothing. My Kia didn't perform like that with its all wheel drive system. Thank you for the video.

I have a 2016 Patriot Sport and all it has is the 4WD, A/C, Cruise, Heated Heats and Bluetooth. No power windows or locks, no fancy screen and no backup camera. No lane departure, blind spot sensors or any modern 'safety' features. It sucks on gas mileage but I don't care. It's been pretty reliable since I bought it new and I love the old school feel to it. Plus it looks better than anything else in its class. All SUVs now look like bubble spaceships.

Theses things are under rated, less tech = less problems. 4wd does fine. Especially the 2.4 with a 6 speed transmission not the cvt. It does it’s job, I’ve seen people lift them as well about 2in and they look good. I rather a Patriot over a compass or the newer renagades any day.

Very underrated. I don’t have an automatic, they can come with a 5 speed manual like mine did. It’s hard to get a 5 speed fully loaded they’re usually 2.0 2wd.
You can get lucky like me and find a 2.4 5 speed manual, 4WD and fully loaded. Hard to find but they’re around

@@ElantraFukkenGang I imagine a manual has got to be tougher off road especially low speed stuff, no ? Torque converter seems so much easier climbing hills especially bumpy stuff.

@@drewmorg. if you’re used to clutch work it’s no big deal; but you will be riding that clutch a lot off-road being a heavy four cylinder. Even in daily driving the clutch has to work hard to get the car moving.

I liked your review. But I disagree with some of your points. I have a 2015 Jeep Patriot Latitude. I have had it for two years. I love it very much. Very fun to drive and the inside dash is actually quite refreshing. Simplistic, yes. But it is very easy to figure out where everything is. Especially with the big AC/Heat controls. However, I agree with your assessment of the power it has, or lack there of. Mine has a 2.4 liter with Freedom Drive II. And it is sluggish when trying to get up to highway speeds. The engine does sound like it is trying very hard to move down the road. Once highway speeds are achieved, it is a good easy to handle drive. Steering is very responsive at all speeds. And when off road, it handles very well. Locking in the 4 wheel drive gives it much more ability to get to some of those harder to reach places. But, again, the CVT restrains the actual power when trying to climb on some of the steeper trails. Over all, a great vehicle with some minor drawbacks. One of those being the price tag. 10k for the one you show is WAAAAYY over priced.
Again, great review. Thank you for the video.

I have a 2008 4x2 2.4L Patriot North (Canada) power everything except no sun roof. Tinted windows. It needed front end brake, suspension etc work, , shocks, struts, put new plugs, with 135K miles. Mechanic wanted to put in a new rack and pinon unit but said it was fine on the interim. I only paid $2,200.00(CDN) But the engine is faithful. I put RESTORE oil conditioner and Lucas valve treatment in the gas. The engine is so quiet now. It's been a retirement project, I guess. It's amazing climbing over winter snow banks.

  • @corradettimotorsports360

What they use is a "brake" Lock differential, all axles split torque equally through the differential & the engine can only deliver as much torque as it takes to turn the wheels, so if its on a slick surface or similar one wheel may turn, but not the other, its the equal torque division that causes this, stepping on the accelerator will only increase speed, not torque, so what modern systems use is brake application on the spinning wheel wheel (slipping wheel) to add extra torque to the other wheels that have more traction (until they slip causing a brake application) MacLaren indecently uses this system instead of a rear limited slip as to save weight and offer better torque vectoring control. Good review !!! I still like these for some strange reason!

It’s 2022 so prices SUCK but I just got a 2016 Patriot for about $17k. One owner, 23k miles, standard transmission (which I don’t mind) and the interior and exterior are in VERY good condition. However, no power windows, no nice seats, no backup camera…I still like it just the way it is. I do plan on getting a little bit larger tires at some point. Oh, no f@*king USB ports! have a 2015 patriot latitude ... in one word I'd describe it as "adequate" ... nothing great, but not bad either
the 4 banger engine, well, it gets the jeep going ok ... but, don't expect anything really resembling acceleration
gas mileage isn't all that great
cargo space is smaller than what it ought to be
but, has been reliable enough - and handles winter driving conditions nicely
the "freedom ii" package supposedly has fairly decent off-road capability, but w/o it, can handle simple terrain ok(ish)

You completely forgot to mention this is an economy vehicle and is the cheapest of the line up. Half the price of that terrain you keep talking about

The vent system in these are horrendous. Super noisy and on the lowest setting it feels like it's blowing full speed. It's just ridiculous. It's very obvious that Fiat Chrysler used the absolute cheapest parts to build these. Sensors crap the bed after few thousand miles. I just hope mine will hold out for couple years until I can trade it and get ripped off bad
